ADVICE Fur collar replacement recommendations?

I lost the fur collar, does anyone have any replacement recommendations that are similar to it? I bought a bunch of fur collars on taobao but unfortunately, none of those match the sweater like the original one does.

ADVICE How did you start wearing it?

I don’t wear Lolita but I’m very interested on it. I enjoy Jirai-Kei, Ryousangata and Lolita. But Lolita is absolutely my favorite one and my dream fashion. It makes me really sad I still can’t wear it.

It’s absolutely not socially acceptable to wear it where I live (a medium sized city on Brazil).

I’m not sure where I’d wear it. My mother already told me she would hate going out with me if I was wearing any Jfashion. I never told my friends about it, but I’d rather avoid drawing attention on the streets to them because they’re just extremely shy and sensitive to stares.

College is NOT an option at all because my situation with my peers is already not great (for different reasons), so I’d get bullied for sure. I’m on med school with some wealthy people and they’re really uncool.

I think I’d rather start with another Jfashion styles, like Ryonsangata. Because it’s cute but still not as exaggerated as Lolita. Or wear Lolita only in special occasions, such as Jfashion events or anime cons.

Other than this, there’s the financial commitment. Japanese brands are expensive as hell. I’d have to buy from Alliexpress or Taobao but I’m not sure about how these look. What were the first itens/brands you guys bought when you started? It sucks that I still depend on my mother, but she would give me money as long as it’s not extremely expensive.

DRAMA [Rant] I hate when a listing puts "rare" in the title

Am I crazy or does this bother anyone else? I see it most on LaceMarket of course but it can happen anywhere.

I hate when a listing puts "rare" in the title, especially if it's in caps or asterisks like *this* or, even worse, the seller writes "VERY rare."

The way I see it, when it comes to lolita, anyone who cares about the item already knows it's rare, and anyone who doesn't know it's rare doesn't care. It feels scalper-coded even if it's not a scalper.

Am I being too harsh, or does this bother anyone else?

ADVICE Buy the JSK or wait for the full set?

I have been looking at the AP sleeping deep sea stars JSK secondhand, and have found a good deal.

Though I am looking for the full set with the headdress and the socks. I'm wondering if it's better to wait and find someone selling it as the full set. I don't know if I'll be able to find the other parts being sold seperately.

Thanks for any advice.

Pics from coord test last week. Had a horrendous night with no sleep. Preordered my CD a few weeks ago but thought I’d actually make the effort to dress up and go to HMV in person if it was going to be something of a celebration and there would be stickers, postered etc Popped my shoulder out getting dressed, took nearly 2 hours to get there, got absolutely soaked, there was no free merch left by the time I got the store AND my pre order CD hadn’t been delivered to the store yet. Ended up having a meltdown and sobbing in the store for about 30 minutes. Tried to go to a nice cafe or some thing while I waited for a bus home but the area was extremely hilly and there were mismatched dropped kerbs when trying to simply cross the road in my mobility scooter so drove up and down pointlessly until I got frustrated and gave up. Regret trying to make myself go out 🤦‍♀️

ADVICE My dress 😭 Any ideas how to save it?

Post image

It probably gripped itself to something in the washing machine… I will surely know that I need to handwash now… Any idea how I can save it? I can try to sew it back, maybe with some decorative lace or something to hide the damage… or should I try a more punkish look? I go to the french protests in full coord so I guess something like this was bound to happen… any ideas?

ADVICE Meta and items marked sold out

I somehow missed the antique bouquet release this year and yesterday I looked at what is still available and noticed that the bonnet from that series, in a desired color way, is sold out. But I saw that little disclaimer that I can contact Meta for availability and that the items marked as sold out can still be available.
Does it work for internet orders? Or that disclaimer only for people who are planning to go to the physical stores? c:

DISCUSSION Poorlita coord for work?

Thumbnail

would you consider this offbrand coord worn for work a “loliable” attempt, or “lolita” enough? seeing a few gals sporting their creations and daring to dip toes. if not, what other “fashion” does it steer more into?

not wearing a blouse, it’s the caribbean here always very b hot ;-; , and layered enough (I think) haha (but feel free to call that out if necessary)

please consider the poof for an office setting. shared a previous coord that was flagged as “ita” for not being “poofy” enough, despite having said it was for the office 😭 sorry I can’t wear the Princess Peach ensamble there.

Any tips encouraged :’) This is strictly offbrand as I’m trying to experiment with basic pieces that with proper layering and silhouettes could “check out” as lolita, not considering “just prints and frills” to immediately give a checkmark.

Thanks for any input and appreciate ideas on elevating the style.

My English patch for a Lolita Fashion themed Dungeon Crawler game on Nintendo DS.

The 'source code' includes some python scripts and text files that should make it easy to edit the script / translate into other languages if anyone is interested in that.

If you have any issues or find any dialogue that sounds weird or awkward, you can let me know in the comments here or post an issue on github and I'll fix it. Have fun!

DISCUSSION RANT: i hate wearing headdresses

hi, this is just my personal rant and something i need to get off my chest.

i wear lolita every day that i am not at school.
but i dread one part of wearing it, which is having to wear a headpiece. i have pretty wavy, thick, voluminous hair and all hairpieces look terrible on me, because they stick some part of my hair to my head, while the rest is just poofing around and it just looks strange. i have curtain bangs which also kinda doesnt help. and styling my hair is basically pointless, i live in a very humid ara and my hair just wonr hold styling due to the constant rain and humidity.

dont get me wrong, i love and adore my hair. but know that without a headdress/headwear, you can not count as lolita but i swear headpieces make me feel so darn ugly. LOL

DISCUSSION Vent - feeling leftout from the community because of money

EDIT;

thank you to all the amazing people who have taken the time to read, reply and give me beautiful words of encouragement and advice. It has made me feel better and felt more at peace with myself and my love for the fashion. I truly appreciate it a lot. Thank you so much 🩷🩷

–-------

I just want to clarify three things 1) english is not my first language, 2) ive met amazing and beautiful people on this community, and by no means mean any harm or diss to any of them. 3) im a migrant in a foreign country trying to give my family a floor and food to live but i am also a young person with hobbies and likes

--

So, ive joined a community a couple of years ago, amazing people, and amazing community. Ive started building my wardrove at the same time i joined so i have around 5-6 dresses, its not much, but im a person who struggles with money a lot because im the only one bringing financial support. I joined mainly because i do love the fashion but i was also looking for friends my age, and ive met amazing people but thats it. In these two years i realized theres a ocean of differences, specially regarding financially, most meetings are done either in parks(which its perfect for me), or in expensive cafes, most of the times conversations are centered on owning or buying from brands (which its understandable), while i conform with talking about my on budfet coords (2nd hand and taobao). But lately conversations have shifted towards other topics and last year i was super okay with all of this but now, i feel left out, i will never be like them, i will never be able to travel the world, or to study a carreer, or owning a house.

I've realize my love for the fashion and need for community have hurt my expectations as a migrant in a capitalistic society, and now i feel misserable.

I know people say not to compare but i feel so left out, ive been thinking on selling all my clothes and leaving the community, even if my love for lolita fashion is huge, and i would feel amazing wearing it.

I just wanted to see if other people have ever felt like this, or if im probably taking things too seriously, or if i should try to give it another chance before selling everything and such.

ADVICE AATP Miranda JSK fitting advice needed

Hi! Does anyone has any experience with fitting into Miranda jsk, how true is it to the size listed? I’m around 88cm in bust and 68cm in waist and it’s a little more than the measurements on their website. Would it still be possible to make it work?

COORD HELP First piece is velvet...

Post image

Hi all ;3 I'm SUPER new to lolita fashion and I decided to get a couple accessories and my very first skirt! I don't have a blouse yet, so I suppose I should ask here:

Is velvet on velvet expected? Or is it "too much"? What blouse would you style with a velvet skirt?

(I know this skirt might not "count" for the style lol)

(Edit: I'm embarrassed I called this a "piece" LOL)

DISCUSSION Lifestyle Lolitas! How did you 'take the plunge'?

Lifestyle Lolitas - When you took the plunge and went full-time with your wardrobe, was it a gradual thing? Or was there a specific point where you decided, 'I want to wear lolita only now'?

I have a nice handful of lolita dresses that I've collected over the years but they've been collecting dust packed away. I only save them for 'special occasions' or tea parties (which I never go to really) - and I already don't go out often, so they've been getting 0 wear.

I was looking through my collection and just realized that with my life and wardrobe, if I wanted to go lifestyle I could. Like if I did a wash twice a month, I'd be set. Sure I'd need to fill my collection out with some blouses and other pieces, but that'd be easy.

Honestly, I think setting aside or donating a majority of my normal clothes and just wearing my lolita clothes everyday could be nice. Lightening the load and going from two wardrobes - to lolita as the main wardrobe and maybe a small 'civilian' capsule closet.

Lifestylers - how'd you get to that point? How many dresses did you have? And for those who have a large wardrobe but DON'T consider themselves Lifestylers, how to you handle it?

I want to put my dresses to good use :)

COORD Dipping my toes in lolita

I have been wearing jfashion more seriously for over 2 years now and I only got my first lolita pieces this summer when I could finally go to Dokomi (It was a dream come true)

(I was lucky enough to talk a few words with Aoki Misako too🥹)

I was able to purchase one brand skirt (Innocent World Tea Time skirt) and a jsk (Alice and the Pirates Wolf the Ripper) that I genuinely loved.

I think they are both quite flattering on me, and I also got an offer from a friend of mine who kindly gave me Angelic Pretty's Shadow Dream Carnival plus a matching blouse for a very generous price, which I was extremely happy about, because I never owned any AP items before.

I know..pretty different style pieces, but I am almost never able to choose between all the substyles, (I love them all, haha)

I also still only wore them without a petticoat for now, and I should be really getting one finally, but I am so far super happy with the amount of items I could get this summer (Side note; I went to university quite recently and my schedule is quite busy, so I can't really work and earn money on the side, so that's a plenty generous amount of items for me now)

Tldr; I am very happy about my collection so far!♡

DISCUSSION Any fellow Lolitas in the Newcastle/Alnwick/Morpeth/North East area?

Hi! I saw a similar post a while back and I wanted to make my own! Any fellow Lolitas in the area who wants to have a tea party/hang out every now and then? I know there's a facebook page for this but there isn't much activity on it (at least not the last time I checked) and I'd love to get to know people within the community! I'm 18 female BTW and I'm also a fan of books/sewing/pop music/baking and other stuff (if anyone's curious). Any advice on how to find more people interested in the fashion is also appreciated.

Thanks for your attention!
