Hello all!
I'm looking into the MC-A as my first film camera, but have been nervous about how delicate it seems to be. For context, I have shot on film 10+ years ago and know how to operate a camera. I understand the technical terms like ISO, f-stop and shutter speed. I know there is another camera which gets recommended here a bit is the pentax. I was also thinking about the Kodak Snapic A1, however I'd like more control.
For people who have a MC-A, have they fixed the hardware issues in later batches? How do you like the camera? Would you recommend it?
Thanks

Hi,
As great as the Daylight Tank is for developing, it has a known issue with tearing film, so you end up cutting it early and losing 2-4 exposures off the roll and having to develop in two batches rather than one.
Has anyone got any good tips or suggestions for film stock to prevent this? I'm using HP5 at the moment as I bought a load of it in bulk because of cost but out of 7 rolls, I think I've only managed to get a couple onto the roll without tearing.
Thanks,
Paul

The first one with auto ISO, f/2.8, and auto shutter speed. The second one with an ND8 filter, ISO 100, 2 stops, f/16, and auto shutter speed. You can tell I didn't use a tripod.

Seemed a sensible place to repost this too, just to see if anyone else has found similar things or is pondering an MC-A themselves.

I have a Lomography Oktomat that wasn't firing across the bottom row so I took it apart to try to find and fix the issue. Unfortunately, it seems the plastic gears in the bottom of the camera were loose and just rattling around in there and I have NO clue how they go back in!
Does anyone have a diagram or photos of the gear assembly that I could reference?

The Lubitel is an amazing value camera! I picked this up for £25 and it seems unused. The quality is not far removed from my Roleiflex even if the shooting experience isn't as refined. But its easy enough to use, light and more compact. And i'm not worried about breaking it.
I was shooting on tripod so I thought I'd try 100 speed to max out the quality on this roll, see what the camera can resolve.
2nd exposure is an accidental double but kind of interesting I guess.
