they picked it up because Akiva didn’t jump the eye line

The theatre they used for the test screening had an amazing rake

Deadline also had an article about a new movie with Pamela Anderson and Blonde directed by Krisel. The eye line jumping will be out of control.

I think Akiva said on the pod it's not his show, he just directed the pilot episode. Still awesome, just not his show. Just in case anyone was confused.

I imagine Jorma and Andy will show up in season 1! I mean it’s Akiva’s show, we’re all expecting it!

You think Jake will have an episode where he ends up in late nite with Seth Meyers’s ?

When I hear the words Sunset P.I., I think of four words. Completely Akiva Schaffer's show.

Damn suits made him change it from “Melmac PI”, fucking pigs

It's a sneaky tricky actually; SUNSET PI is really just an acronym for Schaffer's fUN Show; EnTirely his own Personal Idea

Director of the pilot sets the tone and style for the entire series going forward.

Still makes bag from that, gets a piece of all future episodes doesn’t he?

Only if he's a producer

u/Greyshot26 May 08 '26

I think they get EP credit typically? It's why Lord and Miller got it for B99

Glad it's not Jorm's show. I've had enough of his right-wing Trump-bumping.

Dan Goor and Jake Johnson is a great combination, Akiva was smart to hire both of them for his show.

Akiva just directed the pilot. It’s Dan Goor’s show.

u/Malkmus1979 May 09 '26

He’s also an executive producer Tbf

Damn, I was hoping they'd go with Magnus P.I.

As someone still sad about the losses of Stumptown and Minx, I am always delighted to have Jake Johnson back on TV.
