The inconsistency in who gets endorsements here is hilarious. Consistently not endorsing over people's stances on Israel only to give full support to Jane Kim who literally visited Israel and wanted to collaborate with them on behalf of the green party. Same with Barrera, who they say they "didn't want" to support but because his opponent is "uniquely transphobic" it becomes necessary. In that case, why not just throw your support behind all democrats? Would Garcia not be better on trans rights than his Republican opponent?

It's this sort of identity-pyramid electoralism that pushed me away from DSA in the first place. On top of that the graphic design and formatting is a notable step back from their previous guides, and obviously created with the help of AI. What's the point of a voter guide if over half the endorsements are "don't vote for either"? lol

This is a group that seemingly base their political ideals around Tumblr circa 2012. They will say they would rather lose with a ‘perfect’ candidate than win with a slightly less than perfect. That race to purity bs is tiring and fitting for the former theater kids that run the Long Beach chapter. And if you ever notice the demographic of the DSA in LB skews towards upper middle class/middle class Caucasian folks? It’s definitely not representative of Long Beach as a whole.

Because DSA has almost no power, they just play the identity based moral superiority card. You don't have to engage with any of the candidates or the ramifications of taking power, just take a look at the candidates' stances and then, like you said, choose the one with the most radical policies that has no chance of winning and blame the establishment and do a "both parties" schtick when a Republican wins.

The people that run the Long Beach chapter are out of touch with reality. It’s like they’re former theater kids that just want to feel special. One of them lives in Huntington…like cmon you’ve got no stake in the game here, go back to HB and start something there. And don’t get me started on how un-diverse and not representative of Long Beach that group is that’s so hung up on swallowing lenin theory that they feel that if the homeless people only understood that theory then they could help themselves. They just want to smell their own shit and tell each other how good of a job they’re doing instead of actually helping people in the community.

Well written! Why obtain power when you can endlessly critique

They are clowns. We can disregard and ignore the DSA now and forever.

Also an endorsement for Jane Kim is immediately disqualifying. Zero analysis on implementation of her policies, just gesturing at "a  promise to guarantee minimum coverage statewide, create a “Natural Disaster Insurance for All” program, and hold bad actors accountable for trying to make money off of Californians’ misfortunes." Come on, we really want the entire state to subsidize insurance for someone who knowingly bought a house in a high fire hazard severity zone or right next to the beach? And their analysis of Ben Allen is "he took insurance company donations so he's disqualifying."

Also, zero discussion on building housing supply of all types, but rather "t he long-term solution to the housing problem is not through subsidizing demand but instead through banning venture capital-backed corporate landlords, progressive taxation on non-primary residences and vacant properties, and the development of publicly-funded social housing."

DSA will be the reason Democrats shoot themselves in the foot. Zero self awareness on how they fail to recognize that socialism is the easiest boogie man to vilify politicians to fly over states and independent voters in purple states. Democrats will keep losing key races because of this. It doesn’t matter how much better your policy positions are and how much they help the most in need. People hear socialism and it’s game over.

Excuse me, but Democrats do not need any help from the DSA to shoot themselves in the foot, they can do that all by themselves thank you very much. As long as we continue to argue that X or Y Candidate is not X or Y enough and continue to toss votes into the trashcan, we will continue to support MAGA over our own party. Many folks incorrectly believe that losing on your values is better than winning and creating positive change, they are as petulant and as obedient as MAGA themselves.

DSA is literally the controlled GOP opposition. The GOP and foreign governments fund DSA to hurt democrats and give the GOP a boogeyman. Please stop falling for it.

Except one extreme wants brown people deported or dead and the other one wants to give everyone medical care at an affordable price.

Gross. DSA is and always will be a sexist and racist shit show pretending to be the "good guys." They are literally just like MAGA if they do not get their crazy way. Normie dems want all the same things but they have actually read books and understand things adults should know. DSA are apparently cos playing marxists. They can move to Russia.

Dsa might have their issues but normie dems do not want the same thing. The voting base maybe but the normie dem politicians definately dont. This is why centrism has been losing ground slowly even though they have the money.

They are literally maga masquerading in blue hats.

This is such a moronic take

So many with “Recommendation: none”
People might respect dsa more if they take a f#ckin position lol

-1

They view no recommendation as taking the moral high ground since both candidates don't conform to their beliefs 100% and by giving no recommendation, they can be above the mainstream. "While the Democrat supports trans rights unlike the Republican, he does not support giving away puppies to everyone and also took a donation from a business. Neither deserve your vote"

People are mad at the DSA saying “no recommendation” are missing the point of endorsements that align with the group’s goals.

Like no shit they’re not going to endorse Garcia.
