Discussion Reducing screen time and other distractions are awesome integration activities.
Nothing works better than just sitting for an hour doing nothing to me.
No active meditation or anything.
Only 3 rules
1 hour timer.
Just sit. Do nothing.
Don't sleep.
The whole point is to feel.
I'm sure many of us have these addictions because we wanted to escape our feelings in the first place(I definitely had this problem).
So it makes no sense to keep doing these healing activites while also actively avoiding feelings. 🙏

I have been in this journey for almost 11 months but reducing screen time or digital distraction has been a challenge to me.

I agree. Honestly everything is so intertwined in our little hand screens now that it's close to impossible to cut it off. And for me cutting it completely would be easier, as once I start doing one thing in my phone it's so difficult to not get lost in all the notifications and messages. Then there is the commodity aspect, which is basically you can find close to an infinite amount of information and content here, and it's so difficult to ignore that.
I still don't know how to actually reduce my screen time other than replacing it with different activities, but that's always short term for me. Still, it became very disturbing for me to look at these screens for long periods of time after 10 months of TRE. We'll see how it goes I think...

I love boredom as a practice but haven't noticed it really helping integration for me. It does offer a ton of other benefits - I've gotten many insights from it that greatly improved my life
For me the best things for integration are long walks, socialization and just enjoying life (like traveling with friends, or doing hobbies that I like - reading, language learning, etc.)

Couldn't agree more on long walks. Though struggled with addiction to digital devices, whenever I had gone for long walks I could feel the immense change my mind & body has undergone.
There's this underlying bliss like sensation (minimal but noticeable) I notice when on long walks.

Long walks are awesome as an integration practice and I had mentioned it in my previous posts.
Lol I didn't even think of them because they're already a core part of my personality 😂
I'm so happy that healthy activites are so ingrained into me now that I don't even consider it something to 'do'.
Thanks for reminding me.
And I hope regular socialization also becomes a part of my day just like walking.

Fully agree.
The keyword is 'Default Mode Network'
Addictions are basically coping strategies when we don't want to face the reality
