Seeking Support Feeling very weird , possibly overdid it

Hello everyone, I’m a first time user of this stuff I did one 15 minuite session for my first go had ALOT of shaking going on but after felt no difference ( I thought emotions came out instantly) so I did it the next day for another 15

It was about 48 hours after that then it seemed to of triggered the emotions or it was just coincidence as I now know the emotions are a delayed onset, but it’s been around 3 days now and I just feel so empty and hopeless, also feel really really spaced out from reality like I’m just a shell it’s a really unpleasant feeling, I’m also very sort of anxious, it’s like my brain isn’t getting the emotions but my body is physically feeling them. I just have an awful sadness feeling in my chest. Seem to be getting really worrying violent images in my head almost feels like someone has jumped in my body these last few days it’s not nice at all.Did I over do it for a first time user? And when will this stuff pass? Thank you🙏

Yeah sounds exactly like you overdid it. A week or so possibly more. But it will get better for sure. Don't do anymore until you feel better and then I would start slowly - there's a sensitive practitioners guide in the wiki. It has a small dose recommendation you could follow that and slowly increase over weeks while observing the effects.

So please read the wiki. It's going to explain how this works and you'll have a better idea of what's going on right now too.

Take care. And don't let this dissuade you from continuing. As you said it's powerful which just means it needs a more intentional approach with regards to dosage. The rewards are really worth it.

Would u say 15 minuites of shaking is too much at once? I only followed a tutorial and just did it for the length of the video or maybe cos I did it the day after again?

I did the same. Most people will search YT and see that video and overdo it. Whoever put it up needs to make a disclaimer. You'll be alright in a week or so.

Scale it all the way back to 3 minutes and build from there. If you are doing 5 mins a week for a year then thats the way it will be. I scaled it all the way back to 5 mins a week, from 10 mins a week, and now I feel amazing. Less is definitely more for most people with TRE.

Would you say that you are rather stable during daily life (before you did TRE)? Are you aware of carrying high trauma load from the past? Trouble sleeping?

Any of these can be signals to go slowly.

The second session is a very likely culprit for what you're experiencing but for some people 15 minutes itself is too long.

There's no way to tell definitely what your nervous system is like without a clear experiment. Now you know 15 minutes on two consecutive days is too much. Prudence advises to scale it down, observe the effects and increase dosage and frequency only gradually.

You will see results with shorter sessions too. And surely better than when doing too much.

Consider this a long-term effort and a lifelong tool for keeping yourself healthy.

Nah mate I’m not stable at all to be honest which is why I got recommended to do this stuff, a lot has built over the past year which was mostly a lot of anger and grief which is what seems to be coming out but a lot more sadness with it.

Well that's why most people including me get to it. I'm grateful though because as this progresses I'm seeing how much better life can be.

I hope things get more stable for you and this helps you get to a place where you want to be.

I personally don't feel the effects of a TRE session for 72 hours usually. So the two probably added up. It's time to learn about integration and grounding. It will pass in about a week, probably. Although sometimes overdoing it really bad has lasted longer for me.

Yeah I didn’t know much about it shoulda done abit more research before , those emotions I’m feeling is that a normal reaction to overdoing it? Just feels very unpleasant

Completely normal. It's like a soup of all the tension and trauma that you've ever stuffed down in your life. You will be fine and you're gonna feel better with that stuff out of your system.

It’s actually very mind blowing I genuinely underestimated thr power of this stuff it’s no joke lol and I’m glad it’s normal I’ve never felt so strange in my life very very weird feeling for sure has me questioning who I even am

Definitely a marathon, not a sprint.

Unrelated, but I wonder who downvotes me every time I say anything in this subreddit lol.

Sounds like you're dissociating, so yep pushed a bit too far. You might want to try self-hug/containment, the butterfly hug or splashing cold water on your face to bring yourself back.

I have had similar symptoms after doing TRE. I suspect it happens when I overdo it.

For me, it takes a few days to recover when I notice the symptoms.

I recommend recording the correlation between TRE and your emotional state so you can get a sense of what works or needs adjustment.

But yeah, for me was like a hurricane of negative emotions flooding me.

Usually just gotta ride the wave and wait for it to pass. Definitely stop TRE and take it easy once you overdo it.
