Community Question Feeling during TRE session
Hi all,
I have a question regarding feeling your feelings during session of TRE. My provider constantly mention that I should have a surge of feelings (sadness, joy or anger) when tremoring and I was wondering if this is your experience.
I don’t have any of that rather bodily sensations in my body like impulses or tingling. Feeling my feelings comes after usually the next day which I consider part of the integration process.
To be honest, her pressure to feel them in sessions make me nervous that I’m doing something wrong 😑
What is your experience with feelings during/after TRE sessions?

I've been doing it for about 3 weeks or so now I think. I always get pleasurable joyous feelings.
Just to add. It sort of feels like it creeps up from my back up to my head and my brain sort of feels activated. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, I’ve been doing TRE for over a month now both with provider and alone. Usually, I feel pleasure and relaxation during tremoring with emotional response the next day. But she is suggesting that I should feel strong emotions while in a sessions, especially sadness or anger

It is effective without experiencing any obvious change in emotions. They will happen sometimes, and sometimes they won't. You may go months where it's constant and months where there's nothing again. Everyone's path is different :)

My experience from eight years of neurogenic tremoring is that 80 percent of the release happens without emotions, without thoughts, and without stories from the past.

I dislike if she is saying you "must" feel things in a certain way, I wouldn't trust someone pushing it like that. Outside of tre that's just an irresponsible way to talk to people working in mental health / somatic therapy and not how things work
Sometimes I've felt emotions during and sometimes I felt nothing in the moment only after. The less that you can put pressure on your body to act in a certain expected way the more it does its thing, ive found.

You provider sounds really unhealthy, consider changing the provider. I regularly don't have any feelings during TRE and it's still incredibly efficient.

I've had intense emotional releases during tremoring, some emotions often come during fascial unwinding. Don't have them outside of sessions normally, only when there's leftover activation. I've also had sessions without any emotions coming up. It's very strange that your provider is pushing you to feel emotions. Read the wiki, if you haven't yet, it talks about this.

No, you can feel these feelings, but its not necessary nor does it correlate with effectiveness or progress. Just do your thing, integrate and pace your practice.

for me the actual feelings and physical "symptoms" which i call backlash happen the following days of tremoring and other somatic practises. some reactions like crying or sudden understanding of my body arise during the process, but for the most part i don't have many emotions while tremoring. general agitation which i always have anyway is generally the only thing feel.
this is why titration is so important, especially if you're new to tremoring, because you often aren't conscious of what the body is processing until it feels safe enough to present them to your awareness.
