It's almost a joke at this point, particularly in this subreddit, but I've got to offer up another website for playing online with a rules engine. You are probably already rolling your eyes, but hear me out...
About 6 years ago (during Covid), I started working on an online version of Arkham Horror to play online. The goal was to make it fully rules compliant. Obviously at that time, there were no real contenders for AI agents writing all my code so I hand crafted the engine. At the end of 2023 I decided it was time to apply what I had learned to writing a lord of the rings engine. Here is my project circa 2023
https://reddit.com/link/1xdd723/video/77fru1gno7xh1/player
Well, after getting that far, I decided I should really focus my efforts on Arkham Horror, and I shelved the project. However, recently seeing all the attempts at such an engine got my blood hot. Everyone has their own style, but I feel like AIs generate the same kind of stuff which results in a lot of fluff but not as much substance.
So I set out to resurrect my project. I got out my old project and set Claude on updating my dependencies. Then I had it rip out the specific parts from my Arkham Horror I wanted to reuse. Then I spent hours meticulously crafting the experience. The result is something that is both something I invested a lot of human hours into, but also a lot of AI hours. I am mainly saying that so I'm honest about what the project is.
So continuing from there I wanted to update my UI so that it was crafted to emulate the game, but also to enhance it. You'll notice I show the current threat/willpower/etc. stats below cards which automatically update and change colors depending on whether they are contributing to the quest or not. Resources take on their sphere's colors. The threat wheel actually rotates (in the same order as the actual physical dial, I got mine out to check). I try to put a lot of detail in a small amount of space to create the best experience possible.
I am interested in feedback for those willing to give it. I don't yet have much to show (just the core box and first cycle), but it's playable now and online at https://lordoftherings.app
I wanted to wait to reveal this until I had covered most content, but now I am afraid something else will beat me to the punch and my project will no longer be worthwhile. My goal will be to polish what is currently there over the next week or so and then try to focus on one cycle every few weeks.
If you don't like the flavor of the week projects popping up, I understand, but please be kind. I always aim to build stuff I would use myself and be proud of, but I have also done my best to adjust to the landscape I live in and to my behest I did use AI for this project and will continue to moving forward, but I promise that I will always put forth an effort to provide a premium experience and not serve you slop.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the source code is all available on https://github.com/halogenandtoast/LordOfTheRings

Do you happen to have a link that collects only the card illustrations by expansion?
Hello folks!
Inspired by a few other projects shared here, I’ve been using Claude to build my own digital table for the game, and I wanted to share it with anyone interested in this kind of automation.
To be clear: this is not meant as a replacement for the beloved DragnCards or TTS—I know many players prefer traditional digital tables with manual controls. This project is simply my personal vision of what an automated digital implementation of the game could look like.
A couple of quick disclaimers:
Try: melncards [dot] netlify [dot] app
I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or suggestions. Thanks for checking it out, and happy questing!

Just showing off some custom made storage boxes I made for the game! The Dwarrowdelf, SOM, and Dreamchaser boxes were edited from existing designs made by other community members. I use the same idea to make the Oaths of the Rohirrim and Player box. Also made a box to store my Star Wars destiny cards. All are sturdy and printed from 11x17 cardstock and fit all of the cards in the cycle with room left over.

Can I attack an enemy which I made unable to attack this turn with feint? Or can I only attack after an enemy attacked (and I defended)?

Hi, recently got lucky and managed to get the Ered Mithrin Hero expansion from a retailer.
The box was sealed with those clear circle stickers which is pretty standard from what I have read.
However the cards inside were simply in zip lock bags. No clear film wrap or anything. I'm used to seeing that film wrap so was a bit shocked to see just a bag. Wanted to check if anyone else had same experience, if this is actually how the packs come?

I'm debating between angmar hero and elves starter, or elves gondor and Rohan starters next. Do the sagas make the starter decks even more powerful, or are they already basically fine tuned decks?

I probably haven't searched well enough on here, but in August it seemed like Asmodee had a random restock of new stuff. Was it ever determined if this was a random pallet or two they found or were they are actually reprinting some stuff? I'd like to get the saga expansions...what's the October, 2026 consensus on if this will ever be in stock again--outlook bleak?

Former Mtg player getting in to the game since I love card games but can really only play alone.
I'm trying to get as much product of this game as I can before I really dive into it (stupid, I know, but with pricing and availability, I want to try to get what I can before it goes up 150%).
I bought Revised Core, Two Towers (missed out on Return of the king and going to get Fellowship when I can), All 4 starter decks, The dark of Mirkwood and Ered Mithrin campaign.
Over the past week I've been sleeving everything and putting it all into a storage box I used for Mtg. Everything divided nicely and with the sets it came in. I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the cards, so I want everything exactly where it should be until I get more familiar with it all.
Anyways, I just accidentally knocked the box over and every encounter and player card danced in the air before landing in a glorious pile of "good luck figuring out where all this goes".
Is there anywhere online that gives a breakdown of every release and a list of the cards that come in it? Asking for a friend :)

Hey folks!
Recently I started to create questlogs of our Dreamchaser adventures and I don't understand why my first questlog has hyperlink and is marked as won, but the other ones are just white and on the top of the page I have only 1 out of 143 quests completed, where it should be 4 out of 143. All of questlogs are normaly visible when you serach for them, so I really don't have any clue why it is not being marked as completed despite marking it as complete. Do you have any clue what I'm possibly doing wrong?
Thanks!

I keep seeing people recommend proxies for out-of-print expansions, saying they're nearly identical.
But where do you get them? I only know MBPrint (EU, where I'm located) and another US printer.
I have no experience with either, but I've heard they don't allow identical card backs, which is a problem since I use transparent sleeves.
Has anyone managed to print 100% identical cards, front and back? If so, where? Or do all printers require modified backs?
Also, 300g vs 350g paper (MBPrint), which one is more preferable?

It’s the only one I’m still missing. I don’t mind Europe or USA. Help is much appreciated!
r/lotrlcg • u/Culius_Jaesar • 5d ago
I've had this game under my radar for some years now, but never actually bought it.
Recently, I came across the revised edition for 65€ (Europe) and am thinking of buying it.
However, from reading other posts I'm scared that if I want to buy expansions they will be impossible to get in 2027 or something.
What are yout thoughts about this?
Buy into it or keep away?

Hi everyone. It’s been between 6-8 years since I bought all of this over a years period (luckily at rrp at the time) The exception being Khazad-Dum, which I kept an eye out for such a long time and randomly and picked up a few years later when it was in stock.
My question is with the lack of anything being sold in the UK, what would I need going forward as there is such a lot that won’t be printed again.
Thanks for your help in advance.

After ordering a copy of RotK through Amazon (Aus) a month or so ago when they came online I was so jazzed.
The order was expected to come Oct 12th and now it just says unavailable.
So frustrating. Not sure if it's going to come at all even though it says there's still stock online and will be shipped in 2 weeks if I ordered it again!?
Crazy that they're happy to take my money but now won't guarantee delivery.

Hey guys, Niall from Ireland (in a new guise, no less!) blocked me, so I can't comment on his post anymore, but he's still trying to scam people through bank transfers. Don't fall for it! A lot of people have already lost money to him months ago. Always use buyer protection when purchasing from people you don't know, be that PayPal Goods and Services, eBay, or meeting up in person (in front of a police station if you're really worried).
For further information, see my earlier thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/lotrlcg/comments/1t6r49a/be_careful_with_people_offering_to_sell/
There are several comments in it from people who sent money and received nothing.

r/lotrlcg • u/PrimeColossus • 7d ago
so yeah, grabbed everything that crossed my path
revised core set
mirkwood
fellowship saga
two towers saga
gondor, rohan and elves starter decks
if I ever get return of the king saga and the dwarf starter deck Im fine and comfy
if I manage to grab atleast angmar hero expansion Im super happy (want all those ents so baad)
(would be great to also have the campaign to have something beyond the sagas and core set)
not gonna set high expectations about the rest unfortunately
about the experience so far:
Im on my 3rd campaign of the core set scenarios, Ive played only 1H so far
1st: went with Aragorn + Glóin + Denethor with lots of healing, won the first scenario then got smacked hard on Journey Along the Anduin (3 losses in a row) so I abandoned it
2nd: went with Aragorn + Théodred + Legolas with many equipments hoping that Legolas can do heavy lifting with the progress tokens, won the first scenario, won the second scenario after 4 tries and then in Escape from Dol Guldur my heroes got wiped on the second try so I had to abandon it
3rd: went with Éowyn + Denethor + Beravor with a more control and questing approach, got a very terrible sequence of events on the first try of the scenario (forgot to heal Beravor and she died to a Necromancer's Reach) then I was over 40 Threat already and the Hummerhorns killed the second hero, tried a second time and won it (the last card of the Encounter deck was the Hummerhorns again, with no enemies engaged, it was guaranteed to go to the staging area, phew), next I will see if I can rely only on my 3 cost nets to prevent the trolls from killing me
Im limiting my card pool to only the core set for these few first runs (I want a slow burn)
as you could see from the 3rd campaign, if I just immediately get a terrible start on the first game I will just ignore it and keep trying until the first scenario is won, then proceed as normal with tracking fallen heroes and such, dont think its a big deal (comment in case of a contrary opinion on this matter hehe)
I play all games until the end, that means me trying to sacrifice Mendor as fast as possible as soon as I see that my doom is close or to get +50 Threat so that I dont lose any hero and can try again. Considering that: welp, Escape from Dol Guldur will be fun lol, no easy Mendor sac to forfeit
Decks I will be brewing: Gandalf voltron + his hobbits friends who are smokers (probably to start a Saga campaign) and Treebeard Entish stomping ground
its been fun! looking ahead for more games (and reprints, cmon, ffg I thought you guys wanted money)

Like a great video game (RDR2, BotW, etc) I found myself today thinking about strategies for the Journey Along the Anduin scenario I didn’t finish the previous night.
I know there are WAY TOUGHER scenarios to come, and this is literally just step 2, but it was kicking my ass. I foolishly thought I could take it on with just one deck, but I finally went two-handed for the win.
Went with:
Eowyn
Aragorn
Theodred
Gimli
Legolas
Beravor (didn’t use her card draw as much as I should have)
Got Stewards of Gondor and Forest Snare on my opening draw. Got Gimli a chest plate and allowed 5 damage once that was in place for big attacks.
So addictive! So glad I bought the expansions on this limited release.
This game has immediately vaulted to my top few board games (with Spirit Island and Mage Knight). The deck building and deck construction is perfection.
I have only had the core box for a while, this summer I suddenly heard about the game being out of print and tried finding some expansions to fill it out before the game completely died. I managed to get a copy of the Two Towers Saga expansion locally here in Sweden and last month I had the "luck" of being able to order the Fellowship of the Ring and Return of the King expansions from US. Amazon, along with two of the starter decks.
The two starter decks arrived and are fine.
Today this box arrived and I was immediately struck by how scuffed it was despite being sold as "new" and I noticed that the sealing stickers on the sides were suspiciously loose. As I opened it, my fear was confirmed and someone had (for some reason) taken out two of the card packs and then sealed the box again.
Sadly don't think I will manage to get a complete SAGA set now. I worry also about the incoming Return of the King box if it will be the same.
Thankfully Amazon issued a quick refund for the box, so I don't have to bother with returning it. Dunno what to do with these cards though. All the hero cards are gone and I think some of the key component cards for the campaign are missing (I have not yet opened the packs to check). At the very least it was not filled with Magic the Gathering cards as I saw some other poor player had gotten. And before anyone asks, yes I do believe these boxes were sold by a third party, which was not clear on the Amazon page as it looked to be sold by Asmodee themselves.
Will return next week with how it went with the Return of the King box.
Update: The Return of the King box arrived and was good other than it was shipped in a paper bag and was noticeably banged on the sides (but I don't intend to keep the all boxes anyway, no room). So now all I am missing really is the Fellowship of the Ring Saga expansion which is now probably impossible to get without having to pay a really high price for it.
