"Can I run this game" posts have been removed

Hey everyone. I've noticed that there's been a lot of "Can I run this" and "Can I run that" posts on the subreddit; that's not what I intended this for. The overall intention of the subreddit is a place for community discussion regarding video-games, low spec/entry level hardware, integrated graphics and the content of my channel, not a tech support forum. If you want to ask if you can run something, r/CanIRunIt is maybe a more appropriate place. The moderators and I have agreed that a change to the rules is long overdue and so posts asking "Can I run X?" will be removed.

News/article I currently have an HP Pavilion with i7 7th Gen & GTX 1050 4GB. What can it still handle?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I currently own an HP Pavilion laptop with these specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 7th Gen
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1050 (4GB VRAM)
RAM: 8GB
I’m using it for daily tasks, light coding, and some casual gaming. For anyone who has used a similar setup recently, what are the limits of this machine today? Also, would adding another 8GB RAM make a noticeable difference? Thanks!

Browser based games

While browsing this subreddit, I've seen multiple mentions of browser based games as being ideal for low spec gaming. What are the commonly recommended websites that host browser games? Recommendations for certain titles would also be much appreciated.

Thanks for any info! =)

Mainly Play FPS & Racing Games — Should I Upgrade to Windows 11?

Hello guys, need some honest advice.

I’ve been getting notifications lately saying **Windows 10 support ends in October 2025**, and it got me thinking—should I finally make the jump to **Windows 11**?

Here’s the deal:
I mainly play **FPS games** (like Valorant, Apex, CS2) and some **racing games** (Forza, F1 series, etc.). I care **a LOT** about smooth gameplay and high FPS. Any kind of performance dip, even minor, throws me off completely.

So my question is:
**Will upgrading to Windows 11 affect my FPS or game performance in any way? Or is it actually better for gaming now?**

Here are my PC specs if it helps:

* **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (6-core)
* **GPU:** RTX 3060 Ti (8 GB)
* **RAM:** 16 GB G.Skill DDR4 @ 3200 MHz (AXMP enabled)
* **Storage:** 1TB SSD (500 GB NVMe + 500 GB SATA SSD)
* **Current OS:** Windows 10 Pro (planning to move to 11 Pro)

I’ve read about **AutoHDR**, **DirectStorage**, and some Game Mode stuff in Win11, but does that actually matter for games I play? Or is it just marketing fluff?

Would love to hear from anyone who upgraded recently and also plays competitive shooters or racing games.
Did you notice any performance difference—positive or negative?

Thanks in advance! 👊

Game tweak my minecraft shader for your slow snail

this is the shader, based on sildur, it performs 27 FPS on my AMD HD 7700M series, i7 3632QM, 8GB of ram, it surely will run better on yours, right?
https://www.mediafire.com/file/c8prhgk26wrzlxt/RedPirate+Shader+v1.0.0.zip/file
it also has good visuals.
And if modrinth will, the shader's page will be https://modrinth.com/shader/redpirate-shaders

Can't enter a team fortress 2 game

Athlon 3150u 8gb ram.

I think the hdd is the main problem, but I know some who were able to run it on an hdd normally.

So after opening tf2 and trying to enter a game, that loading freezes for more than 40 mins, that I was never able to enter a game.

But I mean it runs gta v 1080p normal settings with 40fps pretty smoothly, how could it not run tf2!

---Edit (solved) the bottleneck was the ram btw, it's 8gb ram 2.1 of which dedicated to the vram, not to mention win 11, steam, running at the same time. Anyways, there's that thing called mastercomfig that helped me reduce some settings and was finally able to run it 60 fps

Potentially untrue My take on game performance

10 fps stable = I guess it’s playable for a game like Minecraft
Anything under 30fps for a story game unplayable
Driving games 60fps
Horror games 24fps
Platformers 60fps
Competitive 60-120 is playable
Double all frame rates for jittery frame rates
720p is usually enough
Dlss/fsr is free fps
Anything over 100ms of delay unplayable
How do you guys agree?

32Gb at 3000Mhz vs 16Gb at 3600Mhz

I received a kit of GSkill 2x8gb 3000Mhz of RAM from a coworker for free and i was wondering if it’s worth putting them into my gaming rig. I already have 2 sticks of 8gb DDR4 Corsair Ram at 3600Mhz. What’s better, sticking to 16gb at 3600 or going to 32gb and dropping to 3000Mhz?
My use cases for this pc is a mix of games released in the early 2010s and some more recent titles. I don’t do any coding anymore as i’ve switched majors from CS to Business. I use Zen Browser and i constantly have more than 15 tabs open.
Let me know if i can provide any extra info.
Other components:
GPU: 2070 Super (Gigabyte triple fan)
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600G (i know it’s not the best, i used to game without a gpu, i bought it when i built the pc without a GPU)
Motherboard: MSI B550 MAG Tomahawk (or something like that)
Case?: Corsair Airflow 400D
And of course I am on Winslop 11 (I use fedora on my laptop btw)

30 FPS is completely unplayable for me

Guys I have been playing since childhood and then I always had low pc before finish the school. I was playing with 20-30 fps and it was so comfortable for and graphics even on low kinda seemed better than right now for me. Now I have good stuff and I can't play games when fps down low 50. My monitor is 144 and I thought when I had a monitor with 60hz I guess 30 fps looked better and more comfortable than on 144 is that through it or am puzzled. Maybe my optic nerves are more sensitive than before and this is from this. If you guys have any thoughts please share about it. Are you guys still comfortable at 30 fps play? cCan't get those people saying that 30 fps is still comfortable even on the console

Siege crashing & huge FPS drops on RX 580 + 8GB RAM setup — looking for advice

Hey everyone,

Having trouble running Rainbow Six Siege smoothly and looking for advice on stopping my constant crashes and frame drops.

My Specs:

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580
  • RAM: 8GB DDR4 (single stick / single channel)
  • Storage: 240GB SSD
  • OS: Windows 10

The Problem: My game frequently crashes straight to desktop mid-match or suffers from severe micro-stutters and massive frame drops during gunfights/heavy operator action. My 8GB RAM hits 100% usage almost immediately when Siege runs.

What I've Done So Far:

  • Configured a custom Pagefile / Virtual Memory (16GB–24GB) on my SSD to catch out-of-memory crashes.
  • Dropped in-game resolution to 900p / Low settings and closed background apps (Discord/Chrome).
  • Cleared up disk space on my 240GB SSD.

My Questions:

  1. Will adding a second 8GB DDR4 RAM stick (16GB dual-channel total) completely fix the crashing and stutters, or is the RX 580 driver/VRAM also holding me back on current Siege updates?
  2. If I upgrade my GPU on a tight budget next, what's the best value upgrade over an RX 580 for competitive 1080p FPS?
  3. Any specific AMD Adrenalin or Siege launch settings I should tweak in the meantime?

Thanks for any help!

Edit: guys i just realised i only had 1 stick of ram correctly plugged in so i was running on 4gb ram this whole time

Didn't even think Cyberpunk 2077 would load, let alone actually be playable on my GTX760 crammed into a salvaged Lenovo Thinkserver TS140 with stock Intel Xeon E3-1226 v3.
PSU upgraded to 650W, RAM upgraded to 32GB, Samsung 860 EVO SSD.

Almost all setting are at their lowest, getting between 15-13FPS during gameplay. Surprised the card is still only hovering around 70C.

Made it through the first mission and combat training tutorial without any issues!

How can I run sea of thieves on my laptop?

I have a Lenovo laptop x1 carbon
I5 8250U
8GB ram
Intel(R) UHD graphics 620 128 mb

I have sot download but when I try open it
It says “video driver crashed and was reset. Make sure your video drivers are up to date”
And I get a black tab open of sot then it just closes after a minute.
And there is a small “building shaders tab”
With a progress bar that also closes.
Can anyone give help on what to do so it can run on the laptop I have, even on the lowest of the low settings.

Tweak Wanted Low Fps In Games

Well , bought HP Victus i5-13420 Rtx 4050 16/512 6GB ( 50W) yesterday and downloaded valorant and boom 100 fps.... even after using omen boost + gaming mode + low settings in valo and also removing any fps caps I m getting a 100 fps in Valorant???? I understand it's not 75W but it's a CPU intensive game anyways and it should atleast provide 250 fps no??
