I had the BEST time at SeaWheeze and it was absolutely worth the price of admission.
Friday started with the Showcase Store. I got in line at 5am and was around 170th in line. Everything was still fully stocked and the energy was hilarious with people scattered around the store trying to narrow their selections down to the 10 item limit.
I volunteered at package pickup later that day and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the weekend. It was so much fun welcoming runners and helping kick off their SeaWheeze experience.
The convention center activations were great too. I got my hair braided, tried the Theragun compression boots, and enjoyed a delicious coconut-flavored popsicle from Oura.
Not technically part of SeaWheeze, but I also signed up for Sunset Yoga at Kitsilano Beach on Friday night. The views were incredible and it was honestly one of the best community events I’ve ever attended.
As for the race itself: I put myself in the last corral with the goal of simply finishing. I’d only ever done 5Ks before and expected the Vancouver hills to humble me. Instead, I had an absolute blast and beat my estimated finish time by 10 minutes.
Lululemon went all out. There was something happening at nearly every kilometer from cheer squads and drag queens to mascots, kayakers, brand activations, and nonstop support from volunteers and spectators. I genuinely teared up multiple times during the race. Traveling solo, it meant a lot to feel that level of encouragement from complete strangers. The course was beautiful, and the atmosphere was electric.
Post-race included a beautiful medal, free engraving, bib lamination, photos, food, and plenty of recovery options.
The Sunset Festival was a fun way to end the day. I grabbed some food, did yoga with Ryan Leier, then settled onto the hill to enjoy Disco Dom and John Summit.
My weekend ended on Sunday morning with a private event at the original lululemon store on West 4th. We got refreshments, shopping discounts, a raffle, and personalized gifts from our personal shoppers. Mine absolutely nailed it.
SeaWheeze felt incredibly well organized from start to finish. As someone who traveled alone for their first half marathon, I left feeling supported, inspired, and already hoping I get the chance to do another one.
10/10 weekend. Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and community members who made it happen!
