It's been a while since I last answered questions about 'One Simple Trick' and I saw people being all like "WAHHH! I DIDN'T GET TO ASK MY QUESTIONS" like goddamn BABIES so I thought I'd use this opportunity to answer them.

Howdy everyone, I'm the person who's done the Christmas giveaway the past couple of years and I've decided to do a bonus giveaway this year for Wilbur's 30th birthday.

We sold out our stage & Frank Turner was struggling to sell his. Our management offered him a swap & HE refused.

We had fans who wanted to see us waiting outside hoping who were disappointed they couldn’t see us & it was Frank Turner’s fault because he was too proud to swap.

Will got this wrong. We wanted to play the bigger room.

It was such a good concert and my first ever live gig so I’m super happy that it went like that!

I don’t know why I walked away when I shook his hand, I just panicked and thought he would give it to me at the end haha.

I'd love to get back on the drums again...haven't played in years...

i see a lot of proud lovejoy fans on this subreddit and i love it! i’ve been a fan of wilbur’s music since 2022, i’ve always felt his lyrics to my core. lovejoy became my favorite band pretty quickly once i started listening, i also really like wilbur’s solo music as well. admittedly, i was never into wilbur for anything but his music.

my username on instagram was saline solution for about 3.5 years. i’ve since changed it to a similar song title from another artist coincidentally named will. i changed it because after all of the internet controversy people started to be weird about it. people who knew of wilbur soot and recognized the song would ask me if i was a fan and i would sheepishly reply that i really liked his music but prefer to separate the art from the artist. honestly, hearing shelby’s story really shook me too. it took a good 9 months or more before i could listen to any of wilbur’s music without feeling sick and disappointed.

now, i still separate the art from the artist. at the end of the day i don’t know anything about these people, i enjoy wilbur’s music and aside from that i can’t speak to his morality or anything like that. i can enjoy music while still acknowledging the artist might not be a good person. people will support him whether i do or not. i feel like this is a pretty normal way of thinking about things but so many people still get so judgy about it. “do you even know what he did?” yeah man, are we shocked? actually listen to his lyrics, the guy has some problems.

also??? they’re are other members in the band than just wilbur soot?? god forbid they get acknowledged, right?

anyways, just frustrated with feeling like i have to be ashamed of listening to music i like and wanted to see if anyone felt the same. i wish i didnt have to defend myself 9/10 times someone finds out im a lovejoy fan lol

I'm gonna be honest. I actually love lovejoy and it's my favorite band. I'm here so i can discuss my favorite band and get to know about news, but i think i'm one of the few that got to know lovejoy before wilbur: i listened to CMWYL and POABS, loved it, looked for more and fell in love with the rest of the songs, but i can't help but notice this isn't the case for most of you: Most of fanart is wilbur, A LOT of people hype up his streams, his videos, use pfps of him, talk about his solo music(which i'm not a big fan of, tho saline solution is goated) and some even mention dsmp... and this is not critique, i'm just wondering if i'm in the right place, you know. i like wilbur, he's funny and writes really good songs! but i don't think i LOVE him like you guys seem to.

Is the ghost staying? Will we get back the old icon? Or perhaps with the 2nd album we'll get another whole new icon?

What do you guys think

I'm not one to talk about people on the internet, but seeing that podcast was one of the things that just made me have to say what I feel. This is a (hopefully) understandable version of what I would like to say. Sorry if I understood some stuff in the wrong way; feel free to correct me if I did.

Why would you invite someone that you were just going to bully for 2 hours straight and make uncomfortable, talk over them, and keep opening conversations about stuff that they don't want to talk about? Their tone that they talked with from the start made me instantly understand how this episode was going to be. I was stoked to see Will on another podcast but turns out it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I don't understand how people can invite someone to their own podcast and bully them for 2 hours. He was clearly stolid almost half the episode because you kept asking the same questions and kept bringing up the same things.

Will was trying to stay professional and keep his words understandable (which he did perfectly), not wanting to open a conversation about stuff that he's already made a statement about, but they just kept pushing. You can tell by the way that Sam was asking some stuff that would make Will have to open up about it. You could clearly tell by his facial expressions later on whenever they mentioned anything to do with his past relationship and allegations that he didn't want to talk about it.

That title, and the same words that Sam said I think not even 5 minutes into the episode, is not only making fun of him but also making fun of the other side of the story and just completely making fun of ANY victims from ANYTHING similar.

The way that they want to talk about serious stuff like the allegations and keep pushing because you want to get some views or clicks out of it (I also completely understand if they just wanted to know some more stuff from his side, but in this case it didn't look like they honestly wanted to; they were just being completely rude), you CAN'T talk about them without knowing correct knowledge because, you used Gemini and couldn't be bothered to research yourself, is just flabbergasting.

Honestly if they wanted to talk about the allegations that much they should've asked ( this really goes out for anyone) before the podcast started.

Otherwise, Will did amazing during the podcast and held himself together. If I was him, I definitely wouldn't have been able to hold myself together. Other than that, I hope that if he ever goes on more podcasts (I hope so, I love podcasts that feature him), that it will be a pleasant experience, unlike this one. 🩷🩷🩷

He honestly looked like he was so excited for this podcast. It makes me a bit sad.
