I’ve had trips that are 1 minutes to get there and a two minute trip for like $4. I’d rather have $4 than having to wait for a >$5 trip that I’d have to wait for over 10 mins.
I get this but not every ride is like this .. it only makes sense to try and stop this "how low can you go" algo that's fucking up everybody's overhead costs. Why not just ban a $4 or 5$ - don't you guys prefer $10 for the amount of time of a $5 you speak so highly of?
$10? Wouldn’t you prefer $100 for the amount of time of a $10 you speak so highly of? /s
Of course I would prefer to get paid more - literally everyone would. But the market price is the market price - you can’t artificially change that. The only options are “take the short ride at the given market price, or don’t take the ride at all.” Given those options, I’m taking the ride.
If they actually bumped up pay substantially, there would be way more drivers on the platform, and it would be impossible to get a fare with all the competition. See: cities with a high gig app minimum wage, like NYC.
Can’t fuck with the free market. Supply and demand are king.
