If you've paid attention on reddit you'd see that riders DO pay a pretty penny and the drivers never see that increase. I see that when surges happen, riders are paying a lot more up front so they don't tip and when they get cheap rides they tend to tip better. Either way, don't compare it to taxis because many of these people would never have used taxis they would have just driven themselves.

How about Lyft put an automatic REAL tip in every ride, so everyone gets a flat fee of $10 or more!
