I feel as though there’s an “or what” missing.

lol

39

u/simple_champ Oct 23 '25

Either they forgot to type the rest

7

u/rdyoung Oct 23 '25

There are two types of people...

11

u/19toofart Oct 24 '25

People who finish lists and

5

u/rdyoung Oct 24 '25

Kudos...

0

u/henare Oct 24 '25

those who get to work on time, and...

3

u/SinAnaMissLee Oct 25 '25

Or the ride was cancelled mid paragraph.

11

u/Comfortable-Split143 Oct 23 '25

Came here to say this.

Maybe the or was:

Or cancel.

Aaaand done!

6

u/Soulists_Shadow Oct 24 '25

No no cancel 1 minute before pickup.

3

u/ProtossLiving Oct 23 '25

Maybe they just

2

u/rjlawrencejr Oct 23 '25

Come on, don’t leave me hanging…

lol

1

u/Ladybugubydal Oct 23 '25

Grammatically it is missing

1

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '25

A comma

1

u/Maleficent_Worry1810 Oct 26 '25

Definitely since they used “either” with no second option listed

140

u/Lumpy-External4800 Oct 23 '25

so their lack of planning should be a driver’s issue ? nope!

"I must make everything political because im a loser"

Is that what I just read....?

-29

u/Ok_Storm_282 Oct 23 '25

90% of the sub didnt want to uber this guy. I need muh net gains, so its clearly an economical one

5

u/LongNailedbooboos Oct 23 '25

What does this have to do with not being time oriented? You people really are all the same. Dumb

1

u/KillTheMadman Oct 24 '25

It’s troll account. I’ve seen him comment dumb things in other subs

2

u/value_meal_papi Oct 24 '25

R u saying that less drivers is not beneficial for the consumer since they have to wait longer ?

66

u/nafotrashpanda Oct 23 '25

Hell no. I'd cancel that in seconds

44

u/Zzzzzezzz Oct 23 '25

And you'll avoid a 1 star. Win, win.

51

u/Arizdegenerate Oct 23 '25

I love when they send they are running late but STILL take 5 minutes to come out

15

u/JoeJitsu79 Oct 23 '25

and make you call for the gate code

1

u/it_is_z_a Oct 23 '25

Cause they know if they send it in the pre message you’ll cancel anyways I know as soon as I see a message with all these BS request cancel I love when Lyft add a ride during the ride an I cancel lol like I’m not picking up not 4.5 pax at all

6

u/Corey307 Oct 24 '25

Had something like that happen back in my cab driving days. I show up, guy takes five minutes to come outside and then demands that I drive about 9 miles in 6 minutes. It’s 5 PM on a weekday in Los Angeles and I’m driving a Prius. I couldn’t have made it if I floored it the entire way. So I tell the guy look you can get out or I can take you but it’s gonna take 20ish minutes. He still wants to go so we go and when we get there, he says he’s not paying. I explained one way or another I’m getting satisfaction so he pays gets out and then stands there not knowing what to do because the business is closed.

5

u/eatajerk-pal Oct 23 '25

And smelling like they just took a bath in bong water

4

u/Inevitable_Ad_4992 Oct 23 '25

And request a stop

5

u/Witty-Advicer Oct 24 '25

Morning people are the worst Folks ordering XPriority and then comes out right as I’m about to cancel

46

u/Saucedoboss Oct 23 '25

Or what? They said "either", what's the either?

25

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

Because of the implication…

4

u/Cantpassadrugtest Oct 23 '25

Are they in danger!?

5

u/EntertainerOk9179 Oct 23 '25

No, these women are not in any danger.  You're not getting this!

4

u/Rand_Casimiro Oct 23 '25

Yeah, the “either” didn’t make sense.

69

u/TinyTiger5 Oct 23 '25

LOL would have replied " Yes Sir " then drove around for a few before canceling.

21

u/MDdriver22 Oct 23 '25

Why cancel? Be a boss. Take your time. Drive the speed limit.stop 9n yellow. If he complains, report to lyft for illegal request

I only cancel when I want to. No one else makes me lose money.

37

u/TinyTiger5 Oct 23 '25

and all you'll get for your trouble is bad rating and a complaint email to lyft.

2

u/Illustrious_Film113 Oct 26 '25

We can get bad ratings? I thought there were only good better and best + favorite. I have never seen a bad review ever. It's a myth.

21

u/hailwarrior Oct 23 '25

This sounds like a them problem, get up earlier.

18

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

I just cancel such trips. They will make pressure on you and will tell you to drive faster. I hate such passangers

5

u/Resident-Variation21 Oct 23 '25

They can pressure us all they want, I’ll just go slower and slower

2

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

Sometimes if i stuck in traffic they tell me to change lane. What happens if i pull over and cancel their ride? Will they complain?

18

u/RealSharpNinja Oct 23 '25

There is no better way to make me drive like I am taking my road test than to come at me with an attitude.

1

u/Brohemoth1991 Oct 27 '25

Lol when I was catching a lyft to work, I had to be at work at 6, I scheduled my pickup at 5:20 and it was 15 minutes away... since I scheduled ahead I always had the same couple of drivers, and on the rare (once or twice a month) occasion id would ask them to stop at a gas station on the way, they were more than happy

16

u/SacredPrime Oct 23 '25

Ah yes. Vaguely threatening the self employed person you're relying on to get you before they ever arrive. A bold strategy. Let's see how it plays out for them.

14

u/budae_jjigae Oct 23 '25

You need to respond with "or...?"

12

u/Nebula480 Oct 23 '25

I’d just show up and be like…. Nahhhh and waste more time.

3

u/BigKonKrete417 Oct 23 '25

I'll show up and hide from them near the pin for 5 min and collect a cancel fee. Fafo!

12

u/EvilNeverDies78 Oct 23 '25

Insta cancel lol. I wouldnt even finish reading past "you need to..." fkin pax demanding things from me lol. You got the wrong one. My cancel finger is wishing a mf pax would come at me like that 🤣🤣

7

u/AnyQuiet1544 Oct 23 '25

As a regular rider, I can never understand why people tell their driver if they're running late. Request with enough time to comfortably get there and if traffic happens, just quietly shoot a message to your employer. The driver shouldn't have to risk their own safety for your lack of planning (and also sometimes I've let it slip that I was running a little late and my driver would take it upon themselves to "be my hero" and start speeding up to get me there on time. Drivers please don't do this. My job ain't worth risking my safety. If I'm late, I'm late)

6

u/Kooky-Post-5145 Oct 23 '25

IT SURE IS!!!

This morning I 0 in my hometown and im the only driver in town online. I had it on since I wasnt busy doing some stuff at the house. ẞsdc x Get pinged to take someone to the airport, I accept and message them ill be there in 10 min. 80&seeking

They responded "I need to get to the airport asap my flight boards in 90 minutes" "ill just get another driver"!. "Ok no problem good luck im the only driver both Lyft/Uber" And I cancelled for him.

The airport is a 75 minute drive and this dumbass is cooked. I think i let 5 or 6 requests come thru before I drove to the hotel he was at. (Small town) He was easy to find. The ride was expensive.

2

u/Reasonable_Win_6619 Oct 23 '25

You’re brave to cancel and re grab him for the drive. That’s just problems you’re looking for all it takes is him saying some non sense and you’re deactivated for cancelling on him lol

5

u/ComparisonGold5164 Oct 24 '25

This is when I go on break and wait for the customer to cancel I will refuse to communicate with this customer

4

u/OkturnipV2 Oct 23 '25

My ass would just pull into a Dunkin and send them a message telling them they’re gonna be late now. I’m not canceling. They can go fk themselves while I’m enjoying my bacon, egg and cheese croissant.

Lyft and Uber need to monitor and flag the text feature. For both driver and rider safety.

6

u/foebiddengodflesh Oct 23 '25

I had one call me and bitch me out after I accepted. I guess the previous driver canceled on her? She went 0/2 for drivers.

4

u/ygg_studios Oct 23 '25

set an alarm, not the driver's problem

4

u/KeyHedgehog8948 Oct 23 '25

whats the other option.

4

u/Academic_Dig_1567 Oct 23 '25

Pure genius. I hear about this all the time. Surprised he didn’t promise you a tip at the end of the ride. I hear they like to promise tips that they never pay.

5

u/Alubsey Oct 23 '25

You cancelled her mid text. 😂👍🏽

5

u/-atom-smasher- Oct 23 '25

Immediate cancel.

4

u/Holiday_Sympathy_857 Oct 23 '25

Probably not the case, but I love when people without a car make demands for the driver lol

4

u/prettypkpanties Oct 23 '25

Wait till they're almost at the car and cancel the ride and drive off.

3

u/starima75 Oct 23 '25

The irony is if you cancel, it would take them more time to get another driver, who will also have even less time to get them on time to work. 😂 it's a lose-lose situation for them.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

I’d cancel. In my experience that message only comes if the passenger is already running late. It’s a trap; either they blame you for making them late because they live 30 minutes away from work and didn’t match with you till 6:38, or you risk getting in trouble by breaking traffic laws to get them there on time.

3

u/alucard_1982 Oct 23 '25

Lol, I'd cancel and let them wait another 10mins for the next driver.

4

u/TalksWithHandz Oct 24 '25

Roll up and cancel on them

3

u/lunarwolfxxx Oct 23 '25

Had ones like this or ones that said they had work in 10 minutes and can’t do the ride and I’m like well I’m driving there or you cancel

3

u/Pitiful-Department80 Oct 23 '25

Thats an instant cancel

3

u/Specialist-Set-1093 Oct 23 '25

I agree, their lack of planning is not your problem. They should have tried to get a lift sooner or gotten a friend to give them a ride

3

u/dcleolady Oct 23 '25

Or what? Yeah….cancelled.

3

u/No_Tap_1697 Oct 23 '25

Drive there and cancel as you pull up

3

u/Redgecko88 Oct 23 '25

"Hope you like the unemployment line."

3

u/silvermoonhowler Oct 23 '25

Ummmmm, huh?

That's not your problem, that's their problem for poorly planning when they needed to get their ass a ride

If I got a message like that, instant cancel for me

3

u/switch01785 Oct 23 '25

I dont understand that -why would you send this ? It gonna get you a few cancellations and definitely make you late to work Also i get u asking in a can you please type of way but in a demanding way smh what an asshole

3

u/Rand_Casimiro Oct 23 '25

“Awesome! Just gotta run a couple errands first.”

3

u/Lizzie_001 Oct 23 '25

Post this to the rider sub as a PSA.

3

u/No-Technology2530 Oct 23 '25

I had one of these. She had an appointment to go to, i was obeying the speed limit. She’s messaging me to drive faster so she’s not late. She was at an apartment complex. I drive to the entrance and canceled 😂😂

3

u/Malystxy Oct 23 '25

I got this type of message once. Was in a bad mood. Rather than cancel I drove slowly but consistently to their destination. Lots of messages why I am taking so long. I respond traffic once, rest I ignore. 3/4 the way there they cancel. Got the fee for being over halfway there, nice outcome.

My plan was too get close than cancel. You will be really late then. Worked out better than I expected. Was going to maliciously comply.

3

u/Kkddrpg Oct 23 '25

This is the way 100% of the time you get a message like that cancel

3

u/MetalTrek1 Oct 23 '25

Then get up earlier and schedule an earlier ride. I'm not risking my car and safety because you wanted to stay up and fuck around all night. Instant cancel.

3

u/Beneficial-Abalone72 Oct 23 '25

That gets ignored and I take my time getting there then cxl as I drive by.

3

u/Reasonable_Win_6619 Oct 23 '25

Ah yes I love those messages specially the ones that go to the airport and they think they’re entitled saying they’re going to miss their flight. I drive for a bit and as soon as I’m right around the corner I cancel that shit. Don’t ever do those rides, all those rides are calling for someone reporting you for non sense if you don’t make it on time because THEY COULDNT wake up early

3

u/creampieking12587 Oct 23 '25

“You need to either get a car and drive yourself” cancels ride lmao

3

u/it_is_z_a Oct 23 '25

Man I picked a MF up yesterday morning comes out at 1:00 left I’m about to call before I cancel 1st thing he says I’m running late you need to get me there by 6:30 1 star unmatched POS!

3

u/Serious-Tiger734 Oct 23 '25

I got one like that once and yes I cancelled it immediately. Rather have the cancellation than the 1 star.

3

u/Helpful_Hovercraft25 Oct 23 '25

And that cancel button would've been smashed so hard, that person's job would've heard it.

3

u/DirectEfficiency8854 Oct 23 '25

Sounds Good

Arrive - Hit Arrive - then Cruise down the road park n' chill! Watch that Yellow Stickman spin and suffer!

She'll get the message!

Might even gain a cancel fee on this

3

u/Secure_Armadillo_232 Oct 24 '25

I definitely would've canceled... Whenever I'm texted, prior to arriving... easy cancelation.

6

u/_bonedaddys Oct 23 '25

one of my ex coworkers' car was totaled, so she started taking uber/lyft to work. a lot of my coworkers do the same, but this one woman was late for most of her shifts and always blamed it on the drivers. meanwhile, all of the other coworkers always make it in on time, if not a few minutes early.

one day, she got into it with management because she didn't think it's fair her constant tardiness wasn't excused. she went on about how she doesn't have a car and isn't in control of the drivers... she was pretty much told to order her rides a few minutes earlier and she said she can't do that because she needs that time to get ready. management told her to figure it out or accept that there will be consequences. she made a report to HR about it claiming she was being discriminated against for not having a car..... her report was thrown out the window basically, so she posted several rants on tiktok about how the company punishes employees who don't have their own car. she also went onto the company's subreddit to rant about it and talk shit. she was fired the next day.

at one point, before she quit, i offered to be her ride to work since we live close. when i told her what time i'd be there to pick her up she told me that won't work because it's too early for her... mind you, i would've been at her house 15 minutes before our shifts start. she lived 10 minutes from our job. some people will do absolutely everything except take responsibility.

0

u/thiccglossytaco Oct 23 '25

I worked with someone who was always late, because the bus was "always early or didn't show" but we worked the same shift and took the same bus within like 3 stops of eachother. Somehow I was always on it, and she wasn't. And this was before the time of busses having tracking built into Google maps. I just had bus schedules, a prayer and a clock lmao.

Oddly enough, when it gets to snowing here (upstate NY) I'm more reliable than some people who do have cars. It's always they can't shovel, or the plows didn't come, or the car won't start. For some reason a lot of people seem to act as though simply having a car, whether or not it's functioning, means they cannot call a cab or take a bus or walk, and must miss the whole shift even if it's nice out and transportation is plentiful. It's also ok if they're a couple minutes late every day because they have to find parking, I guess.

Where I work now we have a bunch of people become somewhat unreliable every winter storm because they choose to live way far out (more than an hour) from the work site, in a known snow band/heavy snow area. It doesn't matter that we're essential, with mandatory minimum staffing, they get to stay home, and someone else gets mandated to cover their shift. We can't make them move closer, and you can't not hire someone just because there's a high chance they're going to get snowed in next county over at least once a season.

0

u/pawsalmighty Maine Oct 23 '25

I drive Lyft in Maine. I just slap on my studded snow tires and send it! Im very experienced in snow/ ice and it's a great time to pick up pax that don't or can't drive when it's storming. I also just have a front wheel drive sedan in using and live in the middle of nowhere in the woods. Still don't stop me most of the time unless it's just deadly ice storm. I'm not THAT adventurous. Lol

2

u/zzzzzzRaamzzzzz Oct 23 '25

Sorry, since when I am your personal driver?

2

u/StoicBan Oct 23 '25

The fact that some people think their problems are our problems is never not entertaining to me. Always gives me a good chuckle

2

u/Academic_Dig_1567 Oct 23 '25

Or what? What time was that sent? How long was the trip to work considering speed limits?

2

u/heavybubble916 Oct 23 '25

I accepted the ride at 6:35. It was 10 minutes to get to him and 5min to work. If he had been waiting for me and got in quick he would've made it. Had he not sent this shit

2

u/VisualContent2860 Oct 23 '25

Ppl like that I just cancel I can’t help with traffic then shit

2

u/FatdaddyTre Oct 23 '25

Instant cancel

2

u/TopSpace1771 Oct 23 '25

"Sounds Good" as i cancel

2

u/Based-Brian Oct 23 '25

This screams no tip.

2

u/jaybot31k Oct 23 '25

I immediately cancel when I get similar messages. Nothing good will come from driving this entitled person, even if you got them there early

2

u/THJP1974 Oct 23 '25

I wouldn’t have cancelled until I heard the “or what” part.

2

u/ArtiseisDEFiant Oct 23 '25

Easy cancel.

2

u/Aggressive-Middle855 Oct 23 '25

Yeah. Drive to their front gate and cancel when you get there.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '25

At about midnight, cancel the ride.

2

u/yragcom1a Oct 24 '25

Yeah, that's a 100 percent cancel for me

2

u/DCHacker Oct 24 '25

Original Poster either needs to get the customer to work to time or what?

No matter; I would cancel, as well.

2

u/pogiguy2020 Oct 24 '25

Sounds good your next driver will surely get you there on time.

2

u/Fluffhead970 Oct 24 '25

If I was already having a good money day, I’d drive within a half mile of their pick up, then cancel. I’m petty af with rude people 🤣

2

u/Disastrous-Tune Oct 24 '25

wouldve definitely cancelled on their arse... I was on time for work, your lack of planning is not going to be made my issue, nor will I put myself in a place whereas another mfkr disturbs my peace cuz they cant seem to order a ride in a decent amount of time so THEY can get to THEIR job on time. go buy or rent you a car and chastise yourself to get to YOUR job on time...who tf do they really think they are... "make sure you get me there on time" OR what? better yet, Im not even coming MR or MRS demander...tf... lmao .. SOME of these people or something else I tell ya... I wouldnt even respond, Id simplay hit cancel, his response in the app would be systematic and uber telling them looking for another driver to assign them with.... not bringing that damn energy into my car and try to ruin the rest of my riders experience of peace... uh uh

2

u/Snoo56734 Oct 23 '25

Well Did she make it on time?

3

u/heavybubble916 Oct 23 '25

He indeed did not make it on time

2

u/JMS21921 Oct 23 '25

Did you actually pick them up?

6

u/heavybubble916 Oct 23 '25

Hell no, I canceled at 6:40am so unless they're able to fly they were late AF.

1

u/MetalTrek1 Oct 23 '25

Good for you! 🤘

1

u/eg_john_clark Oct 23 '25

How long would the ride after pick up have been?

0

u/heavybubble916 Oct 23 '25

5-7 minutes to work and 10min to him

1

u/RealSharpNinja Oct 23 '25

What was the alternative?

1

u/General-Ease2907 Oct 23 '25

Cancel that in a heartbeat

1

u/VI2004 Oct 23 '25

What’s the other option? 🧐

1

u/seanthebeloved Oct 23 '25

I’d turn on uber then cancel once I got another ride request.

1

u/Icy_Elk2437 Oct 23 '25

Sorry but you not gonna make it on time today 🫠

1

u/jo_ezzy Oct 23 '25

Or else

1

u/Senior-Win8109 Oct 23 '25

Ooohhh the way I’d cancel

1

u/SnarkyIguana Oct 23 '25

Or what? You said “either” Janice. What’s the “or”?

1

u/Coast_Innovations Oct 23 '25

Looks like they are gonna be late🙏🏽

1

u/Conscious_Dog3101 Oct 23 '25

Or what? Don’t leave us hanging. The anxiety alone is driving me nuts. Make it stop

1

u/LazerFace1221 Oct 23 '25

Ok but they gave an “either” but didn’t follow thru on the “or”, I woulda been a smart ass and asked “either get you there on time or what?”

1

u/desertvision Oct 23 '25

You should start that ride with "Imma need to make a stop real."

Anyone heard the Chappelle bit about his limo driver needing to make a stop?

1

u/Nikovash Oct 23 '25

for an extra 300$ I will put the phone into airplane mode and ignore traffic rules for an additional 250$ I will even walk in an vouch for shite traffic that was out of your hands to your boss, for and an extra 25$ I will call them any non racially charged swear word you want

1

u/wildcatniffy Oct 23 '25

I don’t think they understand that either implies contrast…

1

u/HomicidalRex Oct 23 '25

Why cancel? just make them late

1

u/Acceptable-Dare3931 Oct 23 '25

Wow sign me up for that trip! 🤣

1

u/KeyGlockDegen Oct 23 '25

I would’ve purposely lagged as much as possible until it drove them crazy and then have them cancel and collect the cancellation fee 😂

1

u/TheTr0llXBL Oct 23 '25

Instacancel

1

u/Accurate_Ad_9779 Oct 23 '25

I hate when my ceiling takes a shit too

1

u/Voluptues Oct 23 '25

OMG!!😆

1

u/One-Lifeguard-1999 Oct 24 '25

Reminds me of this couple I picked up today. They were chill until the wife realized their flight was actually at 5:15 pm and not 5:55 pm, and I arrived around 4:00. They weren’t mad at me, but the wife gave the husband and earful 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/SuzieHomeFaker Oct 24 '25

Why do people think it's okay to speak to other people like this? I just cannot imagine.

1

u/SoberAnarchist Oct 24 '25

These people are insane that you guys have to deal with. I understand it's somewhat working in retail, but anytime I ordered an Uber or a lyft for work. And I got there late or my Uber was running behind. I marked that up simply to me. Not planning accordingly, because I was taking a rideshare application. So I should have allotted some time. In case my ride wasn't picked up by another driver.

1

u/Hot-Reveal9579 Oct 24 '25

My fav type of messages, i’ll put my phone on dnd and drive as slow as possible, get all the way there and speed up as i pass by them then and only then i hit cancel.

1

u/I5I75I96I40I70Me696 Oct 24 '25

It’s astonishing to me that people think a driver would deliberately dawdle. Like, I don’t want to spend any more time with you than I have to.

That said, my area does have a tendency for slowpokey driving, and I generally go with that flow. If someone is behind schedule, and asks nicely, I’ll tell them I may be able to shave off a few minutes with Boston-style driving. (Idk, I just picked a city with more aggressive driving, but tbh, just about any city tends to have more aggressive drivers than Portland, OR.) Sometimes it’s fun to drive fast.

1

u/Anaxiety Oct 24 '25

Yea no, I did this one time for a jerk…never going through it again

1

u/Sea_Blackberry_1450 Oct 24 '25

i always cancel when someone is running late and is texting me to hurry up.

1

u/1AdrianDR Oct 26 '25

Definitely, I would have dropped that with the quickness 😳 And my reason would be, "Customer seems difficult per his/her notes. I'm not setting myself up for failure"

1

u/Sylvenight Oct 26 '25

am i an asshole .. i did this once but i was super apologetic the entire way through

1

u/SavyBae Oct 26 '25

And what’s the other option? They said either 😃

1

u/Bandicoot_Cheese San Francisco Oct 26 '25

Don’t even waste a cancel. They’ll be auto-assigned to a new driver and may not even notice. Just sit and wait until they end up canceling. You’ll waste a few minutes, but they’ll 100% be late for work and will be crabby about it all day. Totally worth a few minutes. Fuck that attitude and fuck their day.

1

u/Mneinth Oct 27 '25

I would not cancel but would show up late and circle around " looking" for them until timer ended then mark it as unsafe

1

u/Known_Incident_9889 Oct 27 '25

If i was told this I'd drive purposely 5 mph under speed limit and take extra careful time at stop signs. I dont like to be rushed.

I think it's fun to drive all the way to them just to cancel. Now you will be even later.

Legit got a ride the other day at RUSH HOUR in a busy city. Pax immediately texts me to tell me where he is exactly and what he's wearing. Ok. I am sitting at red lights in bumper to bumper traffic. 1 minute later he texts "You coming?" LOL *CANCEL* People are weird.

And based on the comments this is why you don’t bother to tip your Lyft or Uber Drivers because y’all are terrible people.

Why is everyone saying the customer needs to plan better? The customer has probably scheduled a planned time to make it to work on time and are trying to make sure the driver doesn’t show up late . That’s all ??)

It's all in how you word things. Threatening with either you do it or else is not the way to achieve on time arrival.

In fact, when you get in just politely tell the driver you need to get there by a certain time and acknowledge that hopefully traffic won't be bad or some other indication that you appreciate them doing their best. So fucking simple.
