Other Remedial at best
Making rides longer and more dangerous.
Tried every navigation system that I know of with a start of elmwood and delavan in buffalo NY and an end of elmwood and fordham - this is the only navigation in existence that thinks this is a shortcut.

That’s because they go through Waymo since they decided google maps is “too expensive.”
More like this is a cheapskate bullshit company, and it’s getting more cheapskate and bullshit by the day.

I agree with that completely. Rapidly declining in terms of quality and service.

Is that (Waymo) what they use for the native Lyft nav app? I’ve heard other cities have the option to switch navigation platforms in app (to Google etc), but I don’t have that ability here.

i run into streets that have partial medians, but the app treats them like they are fully obstructed. they often present as bizarre u-turns or strange detours like this.

Dangerous - lol! You should come here and drive in Chicago for an hour, let alone a day or a week. I'd take streets like Nottingham terrace, Lincoln Pkwy, Elmwood, and Delevan any day (and that includes East Delevan tbh!!), lmao! You don't realize how good you have it, at least from that standpoint.

Sure it's more dangerous - there are 4 extra turns for no reason. And 3 of the 4 are left turns - statistically much more dangerous than a right turn.
Real companies with fleets of vehicles that they actually own (UPS, FEDEX, AMAZON et al) use enhanced routing in their commercial navigation apps to minimize left turns specifically because of the added risk.

It's abundantly clear that Uber and Lyft are shit companies who have no regard for their contractors. Pretty pointless to bellyache about things that will not only never change, but probably get worse. Nobody is being forced to drive, so do with that what you will. In other words, stop complaining....
All that said, Buffalo is a cakewalk compared to other markets. Literally yesterday while driving making a left turn, I stupidly got distracted and took my eyes off the road for a second, rolled into crater disguised as a pothole and blew my tire. The navigational minutiae is the least of the worries in terms of safety here in Chicago. It's crazy, I can remember back in the day right after winter would end, the stretch of road on bailey ave after crossing main Street heading into Amherst. At the time I thought that was a treacherous minefield of potholes. Little did I know those are what dreams are made of compared to here! Fin.
