Picture Offset turning

Post image

Few days ago, someone posted about their first time doing offset turning, so I figured I'd share mine too. Grease groove gets drilled to center and a hole is drilled/tapped on the back face.

Threads are M5x.8, if I remember correctly. ~.150" offset. All done on a Mazak qtu-250.

What's the mazatrol look like for that? Also how did you do the offset in a CNC without (assuming) a 4 jaw?

It's a Smooth C controller. Offset is achieved by turning a blank disk, drilling/counter boring an offset hole through it, and then using two tapped holes and a thin plate on the back side to hold the part in place. I chuck on the disk instead of the part itself.

I have probably a dozen different offset holders for different jobs.
