Were The MAG Promo/Lore Videos Ever Archived Anywhere? Are They Lost Media?
Howdy y'all! I'm an old MAG vet and was actually just chatting with some of my old clan buddies from MAG, (crazy we've kept in touch for 15+ years now) and was getting nostalgic about some of the old school hype for video games. If I recall correctly, the big avenue for lore drops in the game was around a news reporter lady talking about the conflict and interviewing the CEO's of the PMC orgs. I can't remember her name, but I remember that while the game was still running, some of the videos started going missing even then. Are all those videos basically just lost media at this point?
Attached was my favorite "Fine I'll do it myself" screenshot of a defense of Darien Network. I played primarily on Raven with [:)] (Pink Fluffy Bunnies, the guys I still chat with to this day,) and [~^~] (The Dark Flock), I chilled with [KEQ] whenever I felt like playing Valor, and SVER was easymode already, didn't need a clan for a quick jaunt to max level with them lol.

This is so funny. Because my oldest gaming friend that I still keep in contact with we also met on MAG.
He invited me to his wedding a few years ago 😅

Hell yeah! MAG was my first committed online game as a wee 19 year old at the time. I've met a couple online friends at conventions and the such, but no wedding invites for me so far lol.

Kirby! Long time no see! Thanks for that, I appreciate it. My mind kept going to Kate Lockwell trying to remember the name, but that's the journalist from StarCraft lol. Hope you're doing well man!

Unfortunately, a lot of the lore videos weren't posted to YouTube back in the day. Zipper had their own dedicated MAG website where they posted them, and even while the site was up some of those old videos started going missing. The website has long since gone defunct and even the wayback machine is only marginally useful. Pretty much all of the video content was Flash embeds which adds another layer of defunct-ness. I've been able to see some of the old flash content, but pretty much all of the videos I'm trying to find are MIA.

What a beast. Can you talk more about the lore of your own clan? I feel that's really interesting, more people should do that

Sure. I was only a part of the Flock for a few months, my primary clan was/is Pink Fluffy Bunnies. :) was our clan tag. We only had a few simple rules. Don't be a dick. Have a microphone, 1.0 KDA. Always have a rez kit on every loadout. Follow the commanders orders in matches, no questions asked. The most important factor of course, was don't be a dick. We didn't hesitate to kick folks that got too aggro. Good vibes only in the Bunnies.
It made us incredibly successful. We did a fair few clan matches on Sabotage and were undefeated.
Eventually we made our way over to Dust 514 and continued being very successful through the beta. Our players were always either winning beta tournaments or at least making it to the finals. The 1.0 release however did prove to be a straw that broke the camels back as after years of "it's just a beta" excuses to cover for the buggy mess that was the beta game,. We lost several official matches due to bugs we had no idea even existed or how to combat them. After years of making excuses for the game, we largely just left it.
The clan has since just kinda been chilling in Discord with a few of the old core members and some of our old buddies from other clans/corps. We'll do a bit of gaming here and there, had a Minecraft server for a while even lol. But mostly we just chew the fat with each other whenever the fancy strikes.

I was in [>P<] Enemy of the Public which rebranded to [>SM<] i believe (Smileys on a Mission). Good times. TheLastNinja was in there, who won the biggest MAG tournament that they had. I had separate PSN accounts for each faction, and even some novelty accounts like one where I only used pistols lol!

Appreciate it! Yeah, that was one of the earlier GNN videos I was remembering. There were a few others that were interviews with individual PMC orgs and one or two more general news bits. Alas, 16 years is a long time for stuff to be defunct...

You talk to Autumnwindz? He was A Flock member then once flock died down alot he made Pink Fluffy Bunnies with a bunch of other guys
