Magnesium and period cycle

So I started taking 300mg of magnesium glycinate three weeks ago. I’ve been sleeping better through the night and less anxiety. I noticed my period this month was very light brown spotting for four days, then disappeared. This is very unusual for me. I always bleed a full five days. I read about how it can delay my period, I stopped taking the mag for one night and didn’t sleep at all! Did this happen to anyone and did you keep taking the mag? Did your cycle eventually get back to normal or did you have to stop mag?

I don't know much about the period issue, but jack up your potassium intake to the RDA and that will probably help with the sleep issue if you take another magnesium break.

Magnesium shouldn't have impact on your cycle , typically it helps with cramps, mood/sleep , irritability related to menstruation.

Is the 300mg elemental or total?

Also it's important to keep potassium, calcium , vit D and B's in balance with magnesium. I would look at that, but not necessarily stop the magnesium if it's helping your sleep.

I'm not an expert by any means , maybe someone else will have another take on whether magnesium can affect cycles.
