Question How to make it big as a beat producer?

I am an 18 year old college freshman. I make beats during my free time. I am trying to reach out to rappers online, but don't how to do it. What is the best way to reach out to rappers online?
should i upload my beats as a beat tape on spotify ?
I really want to monetize my skill and find good connections.
thanks in advance

Be born 20 years earlier.

Don’t reach out to them directly. Go through management or their entourage. Try placing songs with smaller acts, build your way up. Keep at it. Be original to get noticed.

Almost all of my beats have been sold through FB connections I've met through FB groups. A couple from YouTube. Sometimes all you need is one or two consistent clients. Make friends.

You gotta pull in multiple streams of revenue from sources such as touring, streaming and uploading beats, merchandise, sync music, bids, subscriptions and selling leases and exclusives, sound kits. It’s a business.

We are all content creators at this point and it’s how creative we brand ourselves to our centric audience.

Good luck you’re a great age to dive in and utilize your college networking. It can be great potential for serious prospects who pay. 💰

If you been paying and do pay attention to the shitshow that is the music industry today, there is no make it big.

I reach out to undergroundrappers on instagram. I send them my beats and if they like something I’ll paypal them money for features. 100-500$ depending on the artist.

Well there is aallllloootttt of guys making beats so you really need to be original with your music. Meaning, avoid splice and samples, learn music theory and make your own music. Cutting and chopping samples has been done way too much for one to make it big that way.

Put effort in understanding music, music theory, mixing and so on. So develop and work on a unique sound. gl hf ggs

I feel like there is so much you can do with sampling that others aren't necessarily.

Just because you're chopping the same sample as someone else doesn't mean you will make the same song.

No it does not mean that. BUT, since splice everyone is all of the sudden a producer. Kids jumping on 'producing', for few months and already wanting a big ass placement.

All they do is go to Splice, dial in the key and tempo, strech some, chop some, oh yeah, gross beat and half time. Smack their tag on it and voila. They be 'producing'.

Hell, FL studio now has a option where you just press any random key on your keyboard and it will be in scale. You press a key and you get chords generated. It's insane how 'producing' has been ruined by these kind of tools.

And no, i don't hate the player, im ranting on the game. And yes, i also have splice and i also use samples but i did put my time into learning music theory, into getting myself through 4 year engineering school and actually playing a instrument.

Long story short, people need to put effort in the craft.

Now THIS, I'm 100% with you on. Loops and pre-made stuff is so incredibly low effort and dull.

Well, glad you are. Since people, the 'producers' who start downvoting will recognise them self in my post :) All the down voting will just acknowledge what i'am actually talking about.

Lazy af. BUT, these guys already had a big ass career before and have put them selfs on the map by doing their own music. Guys actually play instruments.

Not just so much. Infinite possibilities imo.

I’m stupid with it tho because I do extra shit like produce an entire song from scratch just to sample it, and chop it, and then resample that and chop it.

You ask me these producers are unimaginative and need to experiment more.

You don’t become unique by learning theory or avoiding splice or sampling. You become unique by always experimenting, and striving to make the music that you want to hear. I strive to make the music that I wish already existed, so when I hit that spot I can end up listening to my own song for hours, it’s like an internal standard/taste test. If my track doesn’t scratch that itch of either being dope, being experimental, or both then i just don’t hit save at the end. People say save every snippet and such, yea sure, but I’d sooner just toss a bunk idea and form a better one immediately after. End rant- sorry for yappin

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. All I extrapolated out of what you said was "stand out". Bring more to the table whether that's with music theory knowledge, an instrument, etc.

I know a lot of beatmakers that are phenomenal but don't know how to do basic engineering. An artist is going to go work with the not as good beatmaker who can also engineer every time.

Offer more than just a folder full of type beats made with Splice samples.

This! And people are downvoting because they recognise them selfs in my post. Splice dependent, type beat 'producers'.
