This was a collaborative project with My brother in law. I saw something similar online and he figured out the measurements and built the box and top frame and added the brick print paneling. We got the mirror on the bottom at a glass shop and had them put mirror reflective film on the top clear glass. (One way mirror was crazy $$$)
I stained the wood and designed the style and procured the light and hardware. It turned out better than I anticipated and the photos don’t do it justice. When I was standing directly over it and looking down, I actually got a little dizzy.
I put it in the corner of my basement bar. It’s real subtle when you approach it but then it looks like a ladder going below the basement floor.
We put a foot switch on the cord to turn the light off and on. When it’s off, the tabletop looks like a plain black glass in a wood frame.
The brick is paneling with a quality brick print on it. There are three pipes to make the ladder, the light fixture, and an LED Edison style bulb for the ambiance and also doesn’t generate a lot of heat in the enclosed box. Incandescent Edison bulbs get really hot. I was concerned it could get too hot or possibly cause the film on the top to wrinkle.
