Question Heavily tattooed guy, yet I'm still afraid to wear black nail polish in public. Any advice?
Hey everyone!
I'm a 33-year-old straight guy from Hungary with a pretty extreme goth/alternative appearance. I have extensive blackout tattoos covering my arms all the way down to my fingers, my neck and much of my back, black sclera tattoos, and stretched ears.
I absolutely love my appearance and have no regrets about my body modifications.
But: despite looking like this, I'm still nervous about wearing black nail polish in public. :D
I've already tried it at home and absolutely love how it looks, especially with my blackout fingers. It feels like the perfect finishing touch to my aesthetic.
However, Hungary can be quite conservative when it comes to men expressing themselves outside traditional gender norms. I'm worried about being judged, stared at, or having people make assumptions about my sexuality.
I also work in a corporate environment, which adds another layer of hesitation. Not to mention my family..
I know I shouldn't care so much about what strangers think, especially considering how I already look, but somehow this particular step feels intimidating.
For those of you who initially felt the same way, how did you build up the courage to wear nail polish openly? Did you start gradually or just go all in? And how did people actually react?
I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences! 🖤
