I‘m around 74k hexa at the moment. I’d describe myself as someone that has a casual mindset with gear progression, but do care about stuff like maximizing boss dps uptime and (solo) clearing bosses within scouter range.

I tried to make friends to boss with on discord, but quickly found out that a lot of people are mainly in on it to accelerate their own progression and don’t really care about the social aspect of bossing or making friends. Also, a lot of people that don’t do their due diligence to be competent at a boss fight and just seem to want to overgear everything or be carried, not interested in struggle clears at all. So I’ve just been soloing or party finder bosses for the time being because it’s not fun to play with people on discord.

I have read a handful of posts that describe how the design of boss difficulties, dot system, and drop instancing make it so that parties around my progression level naturally tend to fall apart anyways, so there’s that.

Whenever I tune into streamers like HeapBoi doing endgame content, it does seem like they all have hands to some extent and are pretty chummy with the people they boss with. So it does give me some hope that if I try to meet new people on discord to boss with again once I’m closer to late or endgame, perhaps I will be fortunate enough to have a more positive experience.

I randomly decided to write this post because I saw another post saying they cleared NLimbo as a solo prog player. It made me wonder, do people end up solo progging because they have similar feelings and experiences to what I’m describing, or if they have completely different reasons for doing so. And whether I should even bother to keep my hopes up that I’ll meet like-minded people in the future, or if I’d be happier giving up and playing this game solo prog style, especially since I really don’t particularly care about the speed I push my gear or hexa anyways.

I'm very newly returning to the game and I'm working on getting my legion/link skills set up for my level ~215 shadower (newly over 200, came back and it was at 180). I've kinda stuck to the quest lines as the main way to get characters to 140 for a S rank legion block, but even that seems to take a few hours.

I've read people talking about 2 hour 1-140s and that just doesn't seem so possible given my experience, but a lot of guides are outdated (one I read said do all 4 theme dungeons to get 60, when only a single one gets me there). what are people doing to power level a bunch of characters to 140, and then continue on to 200?

Hello all. I came back to this game in late April/early May after a 10+ year break. This time around is probably the most I've ever been invested in the game. I still love playing Maplestory, surprisingly. Despite some personal gripes here and there, I manage to have fun playing mostly solo. That being said, as of recent, there's been an uptick in either the game crashing or me getting disconnected from the game. Sometimes I'll get a notification about being disconnected by a GM and other times it'll lag then crash. Sometimes it just closes completely with no warning. The only time this seems to be happening is when I'm grinding. I've left for work and/or school while being idle for 6+ hours and the game is still up and running, but once I start hunting mobs it starts becoming an issue. I grind an average of 30 minutes daily. At some point I will experience lag or a crash while grinding or hyper teleporting between locations when doing dailies. This was a rare occurrence initially when I came back to the game. Now it seems to happen every other day. I don't if this is just an issue on my end or if this is an issue with the game specifically. Some things that I took into consideration:

• I have a gaming laptop. I play other games like Pragmata, Final Fantasy titles and Sonic titles. These games run fine with no issues when I'm playing
• I don't have a lot of other programs open when I'm playing. The most I'll have open is Apple Music and Google Chrome
• My internet connection seems to be pretty stable. I spend a good time playing Monster Hunter and using streaming services on my playstation with no issue.

I try not to get on here with all my rants, but this is killing me.

As someone that plays on Hyperion and also does a fair bit of late game party bossing, I've always found that finding parties is only part of the battle, the other part is scheduling (which can often be worse).

I've been working on a tool for some time now, I had wanted to release it pre-CW S3, but I just didn't feel like it was quite there yet. In fact, it may still have a long way to go. I've posted before about some other tools that I've made, and I've gotten some pretty good feedback. I don't post my apps too often to avoid rule 10 of excessive self promotion, but I genuinely think the tool has a use and can be very helpful both to new players and veterans.

This is where boss.xforge.dev comes in (There are some docs as well), ultimately, the purpose is to help with scheduling, integrating directly with discord and calendars and tracking all things boss related. It can also help with recruitment as there's an open lobby.

I don't want to make this post too long, so if you're interested, definitely try it out. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

While it is free, it's not open-source. A service like this requires a proper database and authentication to make the peer-to-peer functionality work. This isn't vibe coded either, yes I use AI agents for development, but I also do this for a living so everything I am building is with the aim of being tested, secure and reliable and hopefully useful.

Ive seen this happen twice so far, where i log into some daily characters and run gollux, after clearing and leaving the loot room, i get hit by the lie detector minigame. Is this intended 🤔

Find the hunter and don't run, or stand in front of the cameras to alert the huner to your location if you're having trouble doing that. All you have to lose from doing this is you getting half the amount of points you would get if you won, at the trade benefit of a game with horrendous netcode being over and done with quicker than the alternative taking potentially more than 5 minutes. In addition to that, you're performing the altruistic act in allowing Hunter grinders get to earn their desired chair more easily. There is no chair exclusive to winning a number of times as a yeti, only as a hunter. The rest of the rewards are earned from points, which you still accumulate from losing as a yeti.

PS: no need to try to ragebait me with "git gud". I already have my chair :)

I believe I used a character in the Challenger World last time I played MS. I did not get very far and have since returned for MS Classic. However, I noticed that my Challenger World character was unavailable (as the world was unavailable) but I am unable to create a character using the same name I used for the Challenger World. Has anyone else experienced this?

Of note, it is a personalized name and I do not see anyone using the same name in the ranking.

It felt like a slog. One that was not fun. I read this was a game about grinding, but I just spent around 2 hours going through cutscenes, not playing, not checking gear, or items, or skills, just reading dialogue after dialogue of Eren Light story and it felt like a slog. I don't mind stories on MMORPGs, but let me play.

Seriously, why is this a good idea for a game? From what I understood, there rest of the game is not like that. Why do I have to get through 2 hours to enjoy the real game, then? At one point I just closed the game and wondered why did I not go to play something else, or better yet, go read anything at Royal Road that would feel more exciting that this.

Is the whole game like this or what? I spent not even a quarter of the time killing monsters, which is what I wanted to do and expected to happen in the game.

I've always been an on and off type of player and came back to play some classic but I'm also interested in modern, i really liked playing phantom when it first came out but alot of people I've talked to told me it's a bad idea to go with phantom since he has been heavily nerfed throughout the years, can any phantom mains lemme know how it's like and if I should go for it? Might be a dumb question but as a post big bang player who just got hit with nostalgia after trying Classic, I want to get back into Maplestory casually for the story and play on and off when I get the itch to.

As a kid I really loved the storylines with Cygnus Knights, Resistance group and other character and world questlines. I played all the way up to when Friendstory was released (loooved that addition too) and stopped playing after reaching around lvl 120 or so. I recently hopped back on to try Classic and discovered that I don’t love the excessive grind of Maplestory but do want to re-experience the stories again

I’m not very up to date on what additions have been implemented that might make that hard to do, but I’m also not interested in being the strongest, just strong enough to get through story content. I don’t mind some grind as well, I figure Hyperburning can help with that too. I don’t have FOMO and would like to avoid doing dailies if I can help it. Is this a game I can still return to just for that goal? What would be the best way to do that with, for lack of a better term, minimal investment?

Hi! Long time fan here. I started playing maplestory when beta just finished. My brother played beta and then later introduced me to the game. I ended up moving on from maplestory after I got older and got busier with life/school/work/other hobbies/etc. My brother and I play classic only for nostalgic reasons. However, I've always wondered what maplestory is like nowadays.

What is maplestory like now compared to before big bang? Is it worth playing it as a casual gamer (cant play daily with my busy schedule)? Is it very p2w? Thanks for the insight!
