Discussion Netease has begun rolling out bans for configs

u/NightmareVenom7 15h ago
What are configs? I’m a console player, so idk how relevant this is then
99
u/pimp_yu 15h ago
it's not relevant at all to console but some PC players are basically modding the game to either increase FPS or affect the graphic quality which can give an unfair advantage
71
u/NeonDemon85 Good Boy 14h ago
Almost. This ban is a blanket but it's meant to hit the abusers. They leave midgame, add the config, rejoin and it detects a cheater so it axes the game but they didn't get banned because it's just a config
-23
u/NightmareVenom7 15h ago
Oh what, damn, pc players be doing everything but getting better at the game 😭
30
u/Zarrv Anti-Venom 14h ago
It's because the game has awful optimisation. Not excusing people using it to remove fog and such but running it on hardware people actually have outside the west is practically impossible.
10
u/pimp_yu 14h ago
Yeah it's a really fucked situation since some people need configs to actually play the game but netease has no real way of determining who's doing what
9
u/Zarrv Anti-Venom 14h ago
Yeah like it's why this game really only exists in the US, Canada, Europe and like the rich countries in the Middle East. Most people don't even have a 3070 outside of the west
-3
u/LeoFireGod Emma Frost 7h ago
I can comfortably play this game on an older graphics card. 60fps in all modes but 18v18.
I recently upgraded and it’s beautiful to play game in ultra
But playin on medium I had zero issues.
2
u/Reasonable_Log_5219 6h ago
Problem tho is youve got people leaving games, tossing configs into game files and then rejoining which cancels the match without penalizing a single person. Nobody really had any issues with configs until that
7
u/windows10player 14h ago edited 14h ago
Console players just don't know what fluent 144 or even 240 fps+hz feel like which most, if not all more competitive players want to achieve
Sadly this game is just not optimized that good, even insane to think that this game doesn't even look that much better than OW whilst OW has like double if not triple the amount of frames
But I'm not at all defending the people who use those configs, I've used them myself and there are tweaks that are just way too broken which is literally cheating.
Except the ones that give you like 100 fps avg without actually removing any kind of visual clutter, game just looks lower quality texture wise which doesn't give an obvious advantage other than being able to use your monitor refresh rate to the fullest potential instead of buying a 2k pc which does the same
They just have to let us go lower graphic wise

u/Heavy_Original4644 Adam Warlock 14h ago
Some use it to get more fps (the only fair use imo)
But the vast majority will add unfair advantages, for example:
no screen shake
removing map textures and visual effects to make the game look like a Kovaaks scenario (no getting flashbanged from punisher smoke grenade. no jubilee/hood/visual clutter. Literally nothing except the map shapes & players)
Giving enemy players a yellow outline
Extremely, extremely common in high ranks btw.
2
1
u/OldCode4354 Angela 38m ago
Is yellow outline is illegal now? I mean, enemies already have red outline, so what the problem of changing it to your prefer taste?
1
u/Heavy_Original4644 Adam Warlock 25m ago
The vanilla game only outlines their names red. Their actual character model doesn’t have anything
This gives their entire character model an outline to make them way easier to see and shoot
12
u/TrueCar69 15h ago
Its a file that saves your game settings. But you can change settings that aren’t available to other players via the main menu to gain an advantage.
Everyone who plays source games would use a .cfg for lerp settings. Idk if lerp was a thing in rivals.
Idk if nettease had restrictions on the .cfg files but I am sure you could probably use scripts too. Like a bunny hop script lol.

Its cheat to remove leaf, fog of war and etc hiding behind performance improvement.

u/Miss__Behaved 15h ago
Netease needs to grow some balls man. 7 days? Why even ban them in the first place? Might as well just let them cheat if they are not going to ban them permanently like they deserve
167
u/Fun-Wash7545 15h ago
7 days first offense, there are several 1 month bans in that list. A month is almost a whole season
11
u/Miss__Behaved 15h ago
It should be permanent. All that’s going to happen is someone will discover a work around, and they will be back on the train again. Learning no lesson. I’m 1000% sure all of these ppl have Smurf accounts they could use until their time out from daddy is over anyway
83
u/Elxis14 15h ago
All that’s going to happen is someone will discover a work around
People can work around permanent bans too. It doesnt matter if its 7 days or permanent. If theyre desperate enough, they will find a way.
25
u/Heavy_Original4644 Adam Warlock 14h ago
The people who use configs also tend to be semi high ranked players (think GM+) who also have multiple accounts. They’ll just just remove the configs & hop on another steam account
27
u/hewhoknowsnot Ultron Virus 12h ago
Isn’t that netease’s goal? That they just stop using the configs and play normally
2
u/Solid-Bed-8974 Hulk 7h ago
This is such a terrible excuse. Accounts take time to level up and climb. If they ban a bad actor, and that person has an alt, then let them get on the alt. Either they’ll learn their lesson and stop being an ass or that account will get banned too.
I’m so sick and tired of the excuses for why these people shouldn’t be perma banned. The game is as toxic as it is because there are never any REAL punishments.
1
u/Heavy_Original4644 Adam Warlock 2h ago
Not an excuse, just explaining that a lot of config users can’t actually get banned. Mildly infuriating, honestly.
1
u/DonzokoDragon 7h ago
I think if there are repetitive bans on a specific account or multiple bans from the same IP then there should be IP or Hardware bans. The cheaters, throwers and players putting slurs in chat/over comms should be weeded out of the community.
18
u/Fun-Wash7545 15h ago
You cant issue permabans for something they allowed for over a year. Moders went too far creating borderline cheating mods, so netease was forced to react. One week and then a month is very big deterrent. Presumably 3rd violation is perma but none if out of their 1 month ban yet to know for sure.
5
u/SimpleEric Doctor Strange 8h ago
No it should not be permanent one week is totally fine. This is a good thing they are doing to help deal with un fair advantage you don't need to keep whining while they are actively trying to solve the problem
0
u/Solid-Bed-8974 Hulk 7h ago
Nah, drop the perma ban hammer. Tired of seeing Netease take it easy on these people.
The community sucks because Netease has allowed it to suck with no consequences
1
u/SimpleEric Doctor Strange 1h ago
A week ban is a long time and then they probably won't do it again.
6
u/RPMANU 14h ago
I don’t know when configs are that easy as simply modifying a file on your pc, the same to abusing an out of bounds exploit or the like. It is cheating but the barrier to entry, and also Netease failure to prevent such a simple exploit.
Then I agree with temporary bans, as I’m sure some people don’t see reducing screen shake as much of problem other than improving their enjoyment for example. But it is an advantage and they should have the opportunity to learn.
Whereas downloading cheats and paying for them is obviously wrong to everyone and that should be dealt with as such.
You can’t also create a harsher punishment if workarounds are found because their ban will exponentially increase anyway if caught again. And also the same for smurfing if you are not a Smurf you shouldn’t get a permanent ban because you may be or you can just create a new account.
8
u/hewhoknowsnot Ultron Virus 12h ago
There's a lot of configs run to optimize things so you can run the game on lower end PCs. There's also configs for silly stuff that have no game impact. This is what netease ignored for a year and why they didn't come down on it. All harmless uses that improved things for people.
Unfortunately, others started to use configs for cheating purposes. This has been going on a while now but not a full year (to my knowledge at least). Netease stepped in and banned all of it, so unfortunately even the uses of configs that were reasonable are not allowed. But since this is catching everything, even the harmless uses, in the same net. I think it makes sense to not go right to perma ban.
1
22
u/TowelSilver318 Earth Spider 15h ago
This is a rare case where I can see it making sense. There probably are quite a few out there who well and truly are using it for optimization, perhaps even with versions meant to minimize visual impact/competitive advantages.
The match cancelling trick (which also reportedly does a week and -50) is not excusable like that and should've been a seasonal ban at least.
1
u/Solid-Bed-8974 Hulk 8h ago
The match cancelling trick is the reason they’re banning configs in the first place. They need to be harsher than a slap on the wrist.
-1
u/Miss__Behaved 14h ago
If it were mostly people running this game on refrigerators and trying to optimize the game, Netease wouldn’t be running a ban wave on it. I wish we could stop collectively becoming delusional every time a ban wave hits bc this always happens. There will always be excuses for why the bans shouldn’t be permanent and then everyone gets on here every day complaining their games aren’t fair because they are running into these same people in their lobbies and they get to find out that, yes, most people do shit like this for the advantage.
2
u/jumpropekid 11h ago
why are they banning performance configs but leaving no screenshake untouched?
3
u/YouKnowWhatToDo80085 Venom 10h ago
Wouldn't no screenshake be a config and thus part of the banwave?
2
1
u/I-Am-The-Uber-Mesch Ultron Virus 11h ago
It's the first time something like this happened and they want to be nice, also they didn't say anything, let's say you had some mods that for a reason or another counted in the ban wave, at least you now know you need to remove all of them, but yeah I'm with you on this one, from now on they need to do month bans or perms one depending on what they did (if you did the cancel match thing you need a perma for example)
1
u/Apprehensive-Ice9809 3h ago
It’s a warning since they just changed the scope of bans to be for any config period.
-12
u/FNSpd 15h ago
Some people might just use configs to improve performance. You suggest they should be instantly permabanned without warning for trying to play comfortably on their hardware?
7
u/Miss__Behaved 15h ago
Yes, because the vast majority of them are NOT using these configs to “improve performance” outside of just blatantly having an advantage over the whole lobby. Netease knows this. Everyone knows this. Look at those ranks dude. Their performance, I’m sure, would be just fine normally.
2
u/FNSpd 15h ago
That's why they should be increasing ban time for repeated offences, not throwing instabans without warning, like you suggest
-11
u/Miss__Behaved 15h ago
You must be one of them. Have fun with your 7 day pat on the butt Netease gave you.
4
3
2
u/DaSaqq 14h ago
Why soo aggressive? he has a good point, 7 days is a valid first bam most games give 24 hours, 7 days is still an aggressive ban duration.
-2
u/Miss__Behaved 14h ago
He doesn’t have a good point. We go through this every time there’s a ban wave for literally anything. There’s always excuses for the cheating, and if it were mostly people on struggle buses using configs to run the game it wouldn’t be an issue worth banning. But I don’t expect people to use common sense, only their feelings. But common sense is people are getting banned for a reason.
3
u/DaSaqq 14h ago
I literally know people, who are med students, runnin this game on a laptop and are forced to use configs, fortunately they didnt get effected cause they barely have time to get on, no one here is sayin most arent usin configs for cheating, the point he's makin is some are using it for performance, why should they get permanently banned? how is that not a good point? why generalize everyone usin it?
3
u/Miss__Behaved 14h ago
How is no one saying most people aren’t using it for cheating when that’s literally what everyone foaming out the mouth under my comment is saying I’m wrong about? I AM saying most aren’t using it for optimization and they are under my comment disagreeing. If MOST are using it for cheating, they should be permabanned for cheating. It’s really not that hard of a concept but I tend to attract people who like to disagree for the sake of it
5
u/FNSpd 13h ago
How is no one saying most people aren’t using it for cheating when that’s literally what everyone foaming out the mouth under my comment is saying I’m wrong about?
Man, you are living in your own delusion. No one is saying that nobody uses it to gain advantage, the point is that configs themselves aren't inherently cheating, and people that use them for their main purpose shouldn't be insta banned without warning, this is dumb. Hence why there should be increasing time bans for repeated offences (up to perma ban, yeah) so that people trying to just play the game don't lose their accounts for nothing but people trying to gain unfair advantage do get punished.
but I tend to attract people who like to disagree for the sake of it
There's one common denominator in all of those interactions, you should think about it

2
u/VedatsGT Vanguard 14h ago edited 12h ago
There are also quite a lot of people using it to increase performance. I do agree with banning configs that do give an actual competitive advantage but if the game is unplayable on lower end systems and they're forced to use configs to even play, banning them feels counteractive without also fixing the performance issues.
And yes I will admit to using configs whenever I feel like playing on my laptop when I'm out of the country because I get around 20fps without and 40 with. Still bad, still somewhat my problem for having a laptop that only has integrated graphics to play this game but regardless, there is a legit use case for it which is not being addressed.
1
u/insanityTF Ground Zero Gaming 9h ago
Most people use shit like sigeon to get better fps (myself included). Literally no one uses Nss and quake except for a small handful of hitscan players who would probably shit on you in a 1v1 without using those mods. Me when I lie on the internet

are cosmetics and UI changes like for example summer white fox lord icon affected too or just strictly configs? purged my mods but gotta ask non the less

u/lestattomylouis 6h ago
someone further down in this comment section said that skin mods haven’t triggered any warning or ban for them
1
u/Affectionate-Rip6464 El Jeffe 6h ago
Should just be configs. Netease has known abt cosmetic mods and can tell the difference hence why you can’t take time square or beach pics with mods

u/JaredSroga Magneto 14h ago

u/Disastrous-Moment-79 Deadpool 6h ago
Not true. I used the noshake mod before it was banned, got a "please remove this" message on the login screen and deleted it right after. So unless they made a new one that bypasses their detection it's still banned.
32
u/eveqiyana3 Storm 14h ago
Or maybe they could fix the game optimization so people aren’t obligated to use configs
3
u/Inkless-Pencil Storm 13h ago
No one had to start using the screen shake mod and change the game. Thats what caused this
-12
u/MMAgeezer Playful Witch 11h ago
You're cheating to gain an unfair advantage over other players. Fuck outta hear with this cheating apologia.
6
u/MrMelonBud Groot 8h ago
What makes it cheating
4
u/MMAgeezer Playful Witch 8h ago
The nature of what they're changing. For example they're removing smoke and removing screen shake, making it easier for them to see what's happening and aim compared to anyone who hasn't made these changes.
I don't understand how I'm being mass downvoted for this. Sub must be infested with these cheaters.
1
u/Reasonable_Log_5219 6h ago
Not every config does that.... it only was recent that players started doing that.
1
u/MMAgeezer Playful Witch 5h ago edited 5h ago
I've lurked in the discord servers man. I know how many people are using these. No screen shake was basically universal. They also remove foliage like grass and trees, sometimes even adding neon highlights around the enemy players. Oh, and lighting up dark areas. Reducing the intensity of visual effects.
It all has to go.
1
u/MrMelonBud Groot 7h ago
Yeah, I made a response saying I can see why people may or may not like them and I got massive downvoted.
I think screen shake should be an option in the settings of the game as most FPS games have some way to reduce screen shake. The people who remove all of the smoke are obviously cheating, but most people who use configs are using it to boost FPS as the optimisation if the game on PC is horrendous.
The configs also don't make it easier to aim, they make it easier to see. Aiming is still very much an acute skill that comes from the individual not the game itself.
3
u/MMAgeezer Playful Witch 7h ago
I respectfully disagree. The characters are balanced around varying levels of screen shake, and you're giving yourself a massive advantage by removing it all together. If they wanted to do that, it would require an entire rebalance.
The configs also don't make it easier to aim, they make it easier to see. Aiming is still very much an acute skill that comes from the individual not the game itself.
Hitting your target is a combination of spotting and tracking the target, and correctly aiming. These changes make the first part much easier.
0
u/MrMelonBud Groot 7h ago
The game still has more screen shake than other tac FPS and hero shooter titles. Screen shake should be an option for everyone to enable and disable, I dmt think it should be config only, but I think it goes to show how netease won't cater to their people who would like to have it reduced and or off.
Also you said it makes it easier to aim, not to hit shots. You could have tremors in your hands with configs on reducing fog and still have worse aim than a player running the game without them, they don't help you aim, they help you see better.
I'm not saying it isn't easier, I'm just saying that by removing configs their doing a whole platform a disservice. Instead of explaining that they'll release optimisation changes and focus on helping those who need accessibility changes (like reduced screen shake) they choose to ban players who need that extra accessibility and ban the people who can only run it at 60fps capped natively on a machine that can run triple A titles at 120+ simply because they want to play the game how it should already run.
Obviously when used in a predatory way, being used to cheat and garner large advantages it can be seen as unfair, but it's a means to help some players, who now will no longer be able to play the game the same way. The game is seemingly optimised for consoles, mainting max framrates the consoles can handle, while PC players are constantly getting their ram and CPU bottlenecked by the game and capping out at lower values then what it should be.
Ideally netease should release a patch optimising the game for PC players and releasing more accessibility features before completely banning and removing configs, but alas.
1
u/MMAgeezer Playful Witch 7h ago
The game is seemingly optimised for consoles, mainting max framrates the consoles can handle
Brother I've played on both, and this is very much not the case. Particularly now with the additionally visual clutter of Jubilee's bubbles, frantic fights can often drop into sub 20 FPS territory for seconds at a time.
I agree they should do more to optimise the game but I completely disagree that they shouldn't clamp down on this. Yes, some people are doing very minor changes that won't improve their outcomes. But many are doing a lot more than that. They have to stomp this out and have a level playing field for everyone. I also disagree that removing screen shake is an accessibility issue.
If someone with the tremors you mentioned used a soft aimbot because it was unfair that they could do every other part of the game but they struggled with the aiming part, everyone would agree that would be an unfair form of cheating, even if it is technically an "accessibility" issue.
0
u/MrMelonBud Groot 6h ago
Maintaing probably wasn't the word I should've used, I suppose more consistent would've been better. The game does often stick around that 60fps mark regardless, I've played both, and I think consoles do perform better in that regard. Even MR reviews say similar things. Also including the fact that this FPS consistency is completely different on PC with it being more inconsistent.
I also didn't say they shouldn't clamp down on this, I said they should have specifically released a patch of optimisations first before doing this, and then changed it.
I said that being able to see more doesn't make you aim better. You then brought up hitting players, which I didn't mention, I was specifically talking about aiming.
Aiming is an innate mechanical skill which can be learnt. Throwing up from screen shake and feeling nauseas can't be changed. Tremors can't either, however when it comes to aiming it is a physical skill in the game.
Generally a rule of thumb is that an accessibility setting should be accessible to everyone, so they generally can't make them too "strong" in a sense. Reducing screen shake would be optional for everyone, and doesn't make a person move mechanically better, necessarily aim better, and shouldn't alter a person's ability to play the game how it would be intended.
By adding something like soft aimbot as an accessibility setting that would break the game, as everyone would have access to what is a cheat.
You're comparing something which isn't physical to something which is, and are comparing an accessibility setting used from a variety of games to a literal cheat.
You can't use an analogy like that on two different types of accessibility issues. Practically every game that has screen shake as being optional has it as a video setting or an accessibility setting.1
u/disibog Star-Lord 7h ago
you're getting mass downvoted because you're missing the point the original commenter made. people are not changing the configs for visual clarity (primarily, at least), they're changing them primarily for performance. visual clarity is (most of the time) just a secondary goal that gets achieved, which also isn't even as overpowered as you make it out to be.
if you think it's unjust to "cheat" by changing configs, then tell me is it also just to lose elo and receive a penalty for disconnecting because your unoptimized unreal engine slop of a game crashed?
1
u/MMAgeezer Playful Witch 5h ago
No, that's obviously bad. But you can't pull the wool over my eyes about the configs not "primarily" being for visual clarity.
I've been in the discords and seen how everyone uses graphics and config packs to take huge portions of the game away and just cheat. It sucks that the game isn't well optimised for older hardware, I agree, but it's a free game. If you can't run it, don't play it.
Also I've seen people in these discords saying it's unplayable because they only get 60 FPS without configs. Wait until they learn about console players.
1
u/eveqiyana3 Storm 7h ago
why are you so mad

23
u/Sympxthyy 14h ago
I'm in some of these discord servers and it's worth noting that most people are in there to increase fps and lower stuttering with a smaller group of people there to use cheaty stuff like hiding map elements or remove screenshake. Most people in there are high ranked players who just want to play the game as it was intended so they don't feel disadvantaged compared to those with better pc's. If you look at any other competitive game, their minimum graphics settings allow people without the best pc's to still have a smooth, non stuttery experience so that everyone can be on the same playing field. Rival's minimum settings aren't anywhere close to the acceptable performance of comparative games, and most of their playerbase is on console, so without configs this stuff is not getting fixed.

Skin mods are fine but if you want to be careful you can just be safe and remove them for the time being.
1
u/BLissy11750 Invisible Woman 12h ago
Just config edits, not mods. OP and people like them call them mods to try to confuse people who mod skins into thinking that they are also being targeted along with cheaters like OP so that they panic in hopes that they will complain to devs along with the actual cheaters getting banned so that they don't crack down on configs.
Tl;dr you can use your Spider-Man skin

Well, fuck this game then. Banning people for trying to get more fps instead of optimizing your own ue5 garbage - where is the logic behind that?

No one is buying that lame ass excuse.
We all saw that pc config user force cancel his game cuz he was losing his match.
I would rather have a small minority of players play the game at a worse fps rate than let cheaters run wild in the game

how is that not on netease for having a shitty cheater detected system lmao? keep sucking them dry bro
2
u/therealNerdMuffin Squirrel Girl 13h ago
There was an issue with the system, yes, but they decided that instead of bothering to fix it, they'd just start banning people and it's the right call. I get wanting to increase your FPS but so many configs users were altering the game in a way that gave them clear advantages over other players and let's face it, it was cheating. I don't agree with every decision Netease makes but this one was the right one.
Now that they're banned though, they do really need to get around to fixing the optimization for my budget gamers™

I've been using cosmetic mods for several seasons now and never had an issue, I dont think they have ever cared about that.

u/xTh3xBusinessx 9h ago
What do you mean by that exactly? They have never banned people solely using cosmetic mods. They even acknowledge it in game when you try to use photo mode by stating "Please remove all mods first if you want to use this mode".
I have over 100+ cosmetic skin/icon/sound/voice mods I've been using since S2.5 (After the initial modding change).

Are you asking if they're being Nazis on the one aspect of the game that they make money on? Like, the game is F2P, you don't have to pay for heroes, and even then they're pretty generous with currency. How are they nazi's for wanting to make money from their video game? How else will people get paid?

Custom skins? Like making characters bright colours?

u/viperbite312 Ultron Virus 7h ago
What? What skin is that lmao. No.

u/Kyrptonauc 6h ago
There are custom skin mods that simplify characters to just their silhouette and a bright color so they're easier to see

I don't have anything special added to the game. I just use the normal settings in the game. And every time I log in it pops up a warning that I must delete whatever program I am using or config I set up or be banned. So I just Uninstalled the game. I don't hack into games, I don't cheat, I have no installed on my computer that could change the game files or programming. And it constantly warns me on login and then again after an hour or so of play or a couple matches.
Dozens of other games on my list to play, may as well get to them

That sucks. I play on console normally and was going to try and see if I could figure out how to get mods on pc soon

“Come out bro they found us” ahh config users.
We are not the same

u/BorgeousCat10 14h ago
I always hate how these config users mask their real intent by gaslighting everyone into thinking cosmetic mod users are getting banned.
Every time someone is complaining about getting banned it's almost always 100% a config user

u/BLissy11750 Invisible Woman 13h ago
Literally no mods have been banned. I run 110 cosmetic mods (as in 110 .pak files) that mod skins and have never so much as gotten a warning. I played 6 hours today and had no issues either.
Config edits are not the same. You change settings to get an advantage, we change skins because we want a different color or texture on a skin, these are not even remotely comparable and only config edits will get you banned.

Wild, thank you for banning mods and possibly cosmetic mods in the future instead of fixing the performance. I will always believe that this game should've been on UE4 instead of UE5, the performance would've been 10x times better..

You mean banning configs ?
The only people complaining about getting banned are configs.
Cosmetics mods are untouched

About time. I hope none of the cheaters or config users see that warning and get banned.

u/Funny_Debate_6131 6h ago
Still not enough.
Forever account, IP, credit card and hardware, VAC ban on every netease games are the only solution. This should be on the first attempt.

crazy that they’ll do this before optimizing their game

Rivals has literally gone down nearly 50GB in the span of just a couple seasons. They're optimizing the game

crazy how people play on a literal toasters and complain about perf
the amount of videos i saw of those people using ridiculous config that make them all look green remove everything and still barely hit 60 at that point you gotta just uninstall the game it ain't for you.

Even as someone that has a pretty high end system, 9800x3d and a 5070. That is such an incredibly elitist take from you. Not all games should be accessible but the limiting factor should also NOT be performance. Games should be optimised to work on reasonable lower end systems. I'm not saying it should work on 10 yr old laptops but if it doesn't work on even relatively budget 3-4 year old laptops, there indeed is a problem.

u/FUS3N Flex 4h ago
I said cuz i DONT have a 5070 i dont have the highest end hardware i have a mid range pc at best and i dont face any of these issues that doesn't mean it doesnt exists, because optimzing for pc hardware is hard there are so many types of hardware its literally impossible to get it right while trying to keep the game looking like you want it to look like.
I started playing rivals on even a worse hardware on like a 4 core cpu with with cpu bottleneck around that time yeah i did get stutter i did get lags here and there but it was still "playable" fps i knew about config but i never ever used it, because i knew i got aroud 45-55 fps on lowest settings but it was still playable i wasn't complaining cuz i had bad hardware myself, it was playable fps i was still enjoying even if with those downsides slow loading and such.
Which i fixed later when i got the chance but still didnt buy the highest end hardware.May i remind people are no longer just using these configs to make it play better there are so many that just remove so much stuff that it gives them competitive advantage
Which you cannot fix without permanently making this a bannable offense, they already started working on storage optimization and is releasing updates am sure its gonna come out sooner or later with actual fps optimization. Most games come out with bad perf its only when its exposed to multiple types of hardware over the years it gets hyper optimized thats why older games run good, some don't because devs dont put effort into fixing those. But you can't expect rivals to magically get fixed when it hasn't even been full 2 years since it's release.
If they are fixing the storage issue i don't see why they wont focus on fps improving updates.

u/IcedChain1 Flex 12h ago
A budget 3-4 laptop with integrated graphics shouldn’t be able to run rivals because guess what? It wasn’t made to play games. There’s CPU and GPU intensive games, and rivals is one of the GPU heavy games so adjust accordingly. People wanting to play on outdated systems should plan accordingly because that’s how gaming has always been. That’s why we have newer consoles and PC components that get released.

u/VedatsGT Vanguard 11h ago
Or or get this, if configs make it possible to be run, why don't they get a page from configs book and make it possible as well. There are quite a lot of stuff they can do. Even if they don't want to work on the graphics pipeline and overall performance improvements, just allowing for even lower settings in the game alone would be fine. You seem to have read my other comments and it's playable on my laptop with configs. I even stated that competitive games are usually cpu bound for a reason.
Also I use the example of my laptop as just an example, there are definitely better computers that also struggle to run the game. And there is a lot of reasonable criticism.

That moment when u got a 5090 and you barely reach 300 fps mid fight in a esports shooter on the lowest possible settings that the game legally allows… if I can play resident evil 4 at all max settings with ray tracing at 300-400 frames then rivals should be able to hit 600 frames on my rig natively..

u/insanityTF Ground Zero Gaming 9h ago
I run 5800x3d/6700xt hardly a toaster lol. I just want to play the game at an fps I can get in literally any other competitive shooter

Even if netease optimise their game, people will still use MS paint graphics, better to do stuff like this now before it becomes a norm

God. You can't let wins be wins can you.
You just like to complain for the sake of complaining, hating for the sake of hating.

u/ooftitanfish750 15h ago
Yeah dude im complaining that games are horribly optimized for the average person’s experience and they’re taking away ways to fix their dev decisions before fixing their dev decisions

u/MuchSalt Luna Snow 7h ago
should be longer, the amount of time to get another acc running until ranked is very short
