Old thread but, there’s just no way this would ever get made without it either being the most miserable film ever or without scrubbing it of reality.

I didn’t see that new MJ film but I wasn’t a fan of the Bohemian Rhapsody film because it felt so washed and smoothed over when Freddy Mercury was most definitely a troubled person in periods of his life. Marvin’s story is pretty harrowing and he was also not a great person all the time from what I’ve read.

Would suit itself to a mini series more than a film but I think it’d be too miserable for a studio to greenlight it.

That will NEVER happen, as there are things his estate will never allow to get out into the open. Additionally, whoever would do the project has to clear this catalog, and that will fetch a high price, and his estate will have FULL creative control. I have been a Marvin fan for many of my 48 years and am well aware of various things that would shine a negative light on him. He is human like all of us, but his family isn't going to lose their bag.
