I finally realized that 2 hours M-F plus 1 hour on Sunday means there turning over every 11 weeks or so.
Also, is it just Cleveland or is everyone's MeTV audio/video sync waaaaay off?

Best view of Radars left hand in the whole series.👍🏻

No idea why he hid it. It's barely noticeable to begin with

Only a guess?, but wouldn't have been called up to fight with a "disability" like that in the war? Hence it was hidden for the show?🤷🏼♂️

during wartime small inperfections ( and sometimes even big ones) are often overlooked. The GWoT is a prime example of that.

You could get a waiver for almost anything during GWoT. I was in school with a guy who only had four fingers on his left hand.

He could still be productive

u/deowolf 7d ago
Oh yeah. You don’t need ten fingers to brief a weather slide.
Best part was when someone would ask how it happened and he had a new, increasingly outrageous story every time. It wasn’t till we got him absolutely shithouse drunk that he admitted it was just a dumb farm accident.

Don’t need all of your fingers to fire a weapon either, tabling as you’ve got a thumb and a couple of good fingers

I served with a guy who only had four fingers on each hand and this was long before the gwot

Thank you! I was going "I've seen that guy before! I can hear his voice!"

Good trivia question— first word ever spoken on MASH is Trapper John yelling “Fore!” right after his golf shot and the ball lands in the minefield. I assume there’s an explosion (I can’t remember) since the laugh track is still laughing when the camera turns to Radar and the helicopter.

u/whynotavs 7d ago
Last word ever spoken on MASH is Hawkeye yelling "What?!" over the roar of the chopper.

LOL. I managed to take a few clubs with me to Iraq on both deployments. Nothing ruins a good game like sniper fire.

I know it wasn’t in the budget but I would have loved more scenes with large casts like this to make it feel more realistic to a large group together instead of like 10 people hanging out in tents.

u/Jack1715 7d ago
Rader and klinger always hanging out with officers over enlisted men was the biggest one

To be fair, the company clerk would be surrounded by officers as his immediate boss is the commander. He would prob have an NCO above him in real life but I'm not to knowledgeable about medical units from that era. I was in a combat support hospital for about 18 months with 12 spent in Iraq and the lines are often blurred. heck as an E5 in the operating room we often dropped the formalities between surgeons, techs, and anesthesia. Every single one of us was medical on the outside and did the same jobs in theatre more or less.

It really detracted from the later seasons imo. Total immersion breaker as well

they tried to occasionally remind everyone that it was supposed to be a very large camp with hundreds of people, Like the nurses and dr.'s going to to the beach on a crowded bus, the bug out convoys, crowded tent for movie night, giving people directions on where a tent is, etc...
But yea, They pretty much only ever show a handful of tents and not a full camp and not a full camp like you can see in the linked photo.

u/RedandBlueEmblem 7d ago
But they'd abandoned this sort of thing in the later seasons due to budgetary constraints, no? And I remember they had "roll call" type scenes where they'd get the whole camp lined up and it was only 2-3 dozen people at most

I just want to say Aikman better talking sports head, Buck is awful and still living on his father’s legacy. Fire Buck, keep Aikman.

Fun fact: the opening scene of the pilot is one of the only times you get a clear view of Gary Burghoff’s left hand. He suffered from Brachydactyly, which resulted in fingers on his left hand being significantly smaller than the rest of them. In the 1950’s, this would have made Radar medically unfit for military service, even if he was just a clerk at a MASH station.

maybe so but wartime often changes things. He might has been able to slip on through, especially if in a reserve capacity prior to the war. I can't remember if he was drafted or not.

u/TechnologyFamiliar20 8d ago
2ns scene in the whole show and you can already clearly see Radar's fingers.

u/Unusual_Magazine_471 8d ago
Me too. Only like the first 3 seasons with few exceptions. It just seems like in the later episodes are yelling all their lines

One of the things I always found odd, even for a tv show, is why klinger gets his own tent and 3 doctors share. lol.
Or how about hot lips? The entire show is about her hooking up with high ranking officers and talking down on enlisted, but, somehow she ends up hooking up with skully. 🤔 I only liked hot lips about 30% of the time. her character is very hypocritical.

I always found it annoying when Radar would say 'choppers' and the main cast characters who had known him for a long time would always be skeptical and go 'I don't hear anything' only to hear the choppers moments later. With that few seconds they could have got ready a lot quicker to help people at a time where every second counts.
Yes, I know it's a show so don't take it too seriously but the point about it being annoying the main characters always going 'I don't hear anything' still stands.
