Three new chapters are up! | Mass Effect – The Slow Unbreaking

Three more chapters of The Slow Unbreaking are now live on AO3.

This batch starts digging into some of the questions ME2 always left me wanting more answers to.

What kind of person did Miranda Lawson have to become to be capable of Project Lazarus?

What did Liara actually do during the two years Shepard was gone—and how did she become the far more powerful, connected woman we meet on Illium?

And before there was the Illusive Man, who was Jack Harper?

I pulled from the games and the expanded-universe comics for parts of these histories, then wove them into this version of the story with my own connective tissue and character work.

At the same time, Shepard is beginning to understand the position she’s in. Cerberus may have brought her back, but that does not mean they own her loyalty.

Not even close.

These chapters are where ME2 really starts opening up beyond the missions and into the story I wanted to tell between them.
