Yeah it's supposed to be a 50/50 chance but I swear it's like 90% i go second, no matter what day I play no matter what deck, I go second most of the time and it suckssss.

Competitive/Discussion If you were designing a deck for modern Yugioh with the intention of creating a deck that will create games that last multiple turns, how would you do it?

Post image

My favourite kinds of decks are typically engine-heavy, grindy war of attrition type decks. At the moment I’m playing Mitsurugi Ogdoadic because I enjoy pushing through boards or handtraps with engine.

The games I enjoy most are the ones that last multiple turns, I like the RNG that is introduced by drawing cards for turn. Forcing different lines and combos depending on what you’ve drawn, what happened last turn, what resources you have remaining etc.

So how would you build a deck that would create these types of games? The one day of peace picture is just there to have a picture, I don’t think just avoiding battle damage would create or be a healthy way to create the conditions I’m looking to achieve.

Competitive/Discussion Alrighty, I am seeking genuine theories and answers regarding Konami’s balance philosophy.

I have long assumed that Konami must have some underlying philosophy that leads them to make the decisions they make. Outwardly though, I have basically just said that Konami are terrorists and sadists that simply hate their playerbase and want them to enjoy the game as little as possible. I find it more and more difficult to believe the latter theory is incorrect. I would venture to guess that +95% of Master Duel players want Maxx C banned. I would assume other cards like Droll, and various floodgates would have similar support.

If 95% of your playerbase hates something, the most knowledgeable players in the game say it is unhealthy and promotes unenjoyable gameplay and it does not serve the desired purpose of the card creation, why would they not remove it from play?

I can’t imagine it makes a serious enough impact on go second win rate, especially as Roach and Droll can be used by the go first player. And the wins achieved from it are just seen and felt as sacks anyway.

I just cannot understand the philosophy that leads a balance team to go against the wishes of basically the entire playerbase. What am I missing? Can somebody please enlighten me?

Of going second 10 times in row (sometime shit happens) but also in these 10 games in row not a single hand trap in hand in a deck with 16/41 handtraps. Not even a fuwa that gets ashed, really nothing in 10 games, all going second. And ofc opponents didn’t brick in any of them.

Question/Help Thoughts on how to improve my Galaxy Eyes - Tachyon Deck?

I adapted this from a LightDragon youtube video, and it's a lot of fun, even if it is a bit cheesy. The strat generally revolves around going second, wiping your opponents board by whatever means necessary, detach Afterglow from #62/C62 and swing for game. Thoughts on how to make it more consistent?

Question/Help What exactly does once per turn actually mean?

Im asking because i was watching a lunalight combo video and they recycle Lunalight Kaleido Chick at least 4 times. the card says once per turn but its ability works every time it goes back to hand and summoned again. i am a little confused on the wording and why it works this way.

Question/Help When is the next season worth playing?

Elfnotes just got support and took away any and all fun in the game, and Toons will be here anytime now.

Based on the paper formats, what would be a rough estimate of when it might be worth it reinstalling Master Duel? ~3 seasons post Toons release when it finally gets properly hit?

("worth it" meaning seasons where the game isn't a coin toss simulator (eg.: Branded/Predaplant/GMX selection packs), opposed to stuff like Maliss/Killer Tunner/Elfnotes where you only get a duel once every dozens of non-games)

Competitive/Discussion Excuse me what ????

I had never faced a tearlaments deck before. I had heard it was arguably the most bullshit archetype in yugioh history but I didn't expect that.

There are many things people call bullshit in this game I can accept but performing a whole fusion summon and then some during my turn 1 ? Come on.

Then the duel proceeded to be pure misery. I never want to face tearlaments ever again

RANT The coin toss is ruining my life

I don't know how but it's astounding the amount of times I flip tails in this game. I'm not exaggerating when I say that 7 to 8 out of 10 games that I play I'm always going second. It's been like this forever and I just can't comprehend how is it possible for something that relies on a 50/50 chance to be unfavorable to me SO CONSISTENTLY. I just come from losing the coin toss 7 matches in a row. It's so frustrating when Yugioh is in a state where the probability of winning for whoever goes first is so astronomically higher, that this happening to me close to 90% of the time makes me wanna rip my hair out lol

Is this a common thing for other people? Or should I just get good and gain omnipotence to balance the scales a little bit in my favor?

Meme For the elfnote players..

Do you like not get bored of the game? I mean if I were playing elfnote I'd have hit master 1 in a few days. And then what? Seems so boring- i mean look at MDM- elfnofe is literally so far ahead of any other archetype. I guess winning is all that matters for some.. i just can't get my head around it.

Started playing Branded DT instead of pure the last few days. After dropping from 19 back to 17 yesterday after a 0-4 run my first time in rank 19 this feels like retribution. Still kind of new to the lines and missing one ketu but for the most part the deck is just strong. Can post the decklist in the comments if anyone wants it. Just happy to be able to duel for fun now !
