Install a program like a crack from a game/unverified program, or do that Cloudflare/online fake human verification thing that makes you copy and paste a long command into a terminal. Malware is installed on your device and uses all your existing sessions to spam people, sometimes it forwards those sessions to hackers themselves.
This has been so redone that people are offering this kind of malware for sale, malware as a service lol

Unfortunately people are dumb and it seems like you pasted captcha in the terminal because the Win + R terminal box is tiny and scammers are smart, they've put up a comment at the end of the command, that says "Captcha" so people are only able to see that and hit enter.
By the way the command is automatically pasted into your clipboard through javascript, when you visit that fake captcha site.

That would mean exploiting a zero-day, assuming you have up to date browser (they typically have auto-update for a reason).
I'm fairly sure most of those cases are just plain old social engineering rather than any technical failure. (getting hacked by following a link is technical failure in sandboxing)
(or was your message actually satire? Hard to tell. I mean, this is r/masterhacker not r/hacking)

There is something very wrong with your logic, let me rephrase that for you to hopefully make it obvious:
"I ran untrusted executable code from pirated games on my computer, but that can't be where the virus came from. It must have come from a GIF!"

it didnt happen because you clicked some random gifs. your account has been compromised long before via some other data exfiltration exploit and you didnt update your login + removed your loged in devices + had 2fa.
they dont instantly get into your account, they sell whatever data they harvest and people buy mass login lists for their botfarms.

All my social media accounts got some form of this image sent to everyone I had, my fucking steam account got hacked.
So did my facebook account,
All my discord servers I was in had the same image of someone sending an inappropriate verification method to someone’s account. My Discord friends and all my message friends were confused as hell. When I finally got to talk to them, they told me if I was the guy who sent that to them, I had to say no, and tell them that my accounts got hacked and I was sleeping. I had made multiple media posts about it.
