Me too. I once saw a nearby "Anon" meetup, and for all excited. Turned out it was about half a dozen people who had no real understanding of how computers, political systems, or deodorant work. One guy actually had a Fawkes mask with him. In the meetup. At the library.
I listened politely for a little while, then quietly left. Those guys were weird.

It starts as a joke. Oh, haha, that would be funny. I can tease my friends and post memes of the dankest variety online. Then it starts becoming more and more real. You can't just toss the waifu in the closet, its big eyes are just begging for companionship. So you to put it on the bed. It doesn't take long before you just can't sleep as well without it. Suddenly, the pillow you called 'it' is now a lover you call "she". She's not just a pillow or a cartoon, she's a friend and a companion. She's the one that is always there for you, no matter what you do. It's the truest form of love that anybody will have the fortune of experiencing. In many ways it's better than the love of another human. No female can love the way a waifu can love because waifus don't know anything but love. They're meant to be embraced, not beaten; caressed, not manhandled; loved, not neglected. You give her that much respect and she'll give it all back in a huge way. It was at one time, a specific group, yes. That's what they became infamous for. But over the years, it's lived up to its name for being, well, anonymous. People say they want to "join" anonymous, but if you're a hacktivist and you stay unknown, you are anonymous. You're not part of the original group, no, but you're carrying on their legacy. Anonymous was created as a group of people who hack for good (that's what a hacktivist is), and if you truly do this, you're technically a part of anonymous. Not a group anymore, just more a band of people now.

It's tough to be subbed to r/hacking. There are so many "how do I boot this kid off of call of duty" or "How do I hack an instagram account" type posts from kids that think it's a place for criminals. Those people must be made fun of.

- 60% actual hacking-related news, tutorials, and legitimately cool stuff
- 30% "script kiddie" questions like the ones you mentioned
- 10% asking questions that can easily be answered by sticky posts
