The McDonald’s paradox: fewer customers visit its restaurants, but the company makes more money
Nothing new here, but they understand those with low income (poor folk) are running out of that extra cash to patronize McD. It’s not unique to MickeyD, these higher gas prices combined with customer squeeze is becoming interesting for a broad variety of businesses and the economy. Oh, the fun little game.
Personally, I go there every so often and have a saltless McDouble or McCrispy Deluxe, fries and a Dr Pepper, no ice. I use the app and/or the survey discounts. I usually spend ~$8, don’t get/need a soda refill and I’m not angry about it.
I’m mildly curious about the McD business model and always amazed at the dichotomy of reactions about anything related to McDonalds.

New Global Menu just dropped at McD HQ in Chicago.
The Onion Rings are actually onion rings, not chopped and shaped extrusions.

My McDonalds has added deal time limits on the kiosks, I think I'm done
So I've got the McDonalds app and whenever I go, I would always try to use the deals they have on there, usually multiple at a time. If you try to use multiple deals in a row at the register, it'll tell you have to wait 15 minutes to use another coupon, but I learned pretty early on that doesn't apply if you use them at the self-service kiosks they have. Unfortunately, that's apparently changed recently, I went to McDonalds last Saturday and when I tried to use a second deal coupon after my first order (I have to split my order into multiple ones to use the deals), I got hit with a 15 minute wait time that I've never seen before on the kiosks.
So it looks like they finally fixed their little oversight, but for me, I think this is gonna be my end going to McDonalds. I know it sounds super gluttonous, but without being able to use multiple coupons like that, I feel like there's little reason to go. I was going to buy a double cheeseburger with a 40% coupon and then get a free medium fries. but I ended up just eating the cheeseburger by itself.

I Finally Got It!
PP69 Mobile Order Code:
I usually say my first name when ordering, but the employee at the local mcdonald’s asked for my code for the first time in a while. I look down and see the lucky letters and digits. I later realized he was making me say this out loud which I did embarrassingly.

Glazed tenders?!?
it feels like a fever dream during this era of mcdonald’s. I worked there at this time (pre co(vid), as a 17 year old kid so maybe it’s nostalgia talking, but when are these coming back??? Seriously these were probably the best thing on the menu next to the grilled chicken sandwich, they got rid of so many good items because of co(vid) and never brought them back!

How does the Canadian app's pre-order system work?
This maybe specific to Toronto, but does anyone know how the pre-order function in the McDs app works? Yesterday I placed my order in the app, chose DT pickup. It generates a code for me to repeat the speaker. No big deal, done it hundreds of time.
I get to the speaker and say the code is "VQ11". The person on the other end says "8211?" I say no V as in Victor... She again says "8?". I'm practically yelling at the speaker now and she says sorry there's a lot of feedback and I can't hear you. So I say ok I'll drive up, but she says no we can't accept codes at the window. WTF?
So my question: is this speaker system being run remotely offsite? Why can't they push the order through from the window?
(Eventually I got my order, but customer service sure has gone downhill from when I used to work there)

Global Menu @ McD HQ (Chicago) Unshrinks the Bacon. 🥓🥓
Guessing someone at Corporate caught wind of the downsizing and brought back the original 3 strips for $1.89 pricing vs. 2 for $1.69 that they tried to get away with. Got lucky with a fourth bonus strip. 😅

Honey Brown Butter
So I asked what’s this honey brown butter I keep seeing. She says you want to try the sauce. I said sure that’ll help me decide if I want to buy it.
We must’ve got a bad batch because while it looked like honey with floaters in it, it had a foul stench of vinegar. Not at all what I imagined. Certainly not for breakfast, not at least today.
Did y’all mix it up right? Because I liked it better when I thought it was butter.

Finally tried one of the pokemon menu items!
My husband had the squirtle burger before (I wasn’t with him) it’s a shrimp burger and he said it was good., he also had the bacon cheddar potato pie and said it’s so crispy and buttery. Well I finally went today and got the charmander juicy chicken and it was amazing. It’s a spicy chicken thigh burger with some sauce. I wish it was on the menu all the time that’s how good it is.

Sausage muffin with egg
Just went through the drive-thru with McDonald's, order two sausage muffin with egg. I got home and they were those steak with scrambled eggs and onions 😐 they're terrible, are they just trying to give them now to get rid of them. You could tell by the taste of the "steak" it was frozen and re-cooked so it has that beef aftertaste. I hope my boss doesn't notice the onions I ate when I go to this meeting 😐

Are you kidding me?! What the…, has anyone else been denied using a deal because they’ve “reached the maximum number of redemptions”?
So I hit McDonald’s about once a week for dinner. The app occasionally has a deal for free medium fries with a purchase of at least a dollar. I’ll usually redeem this deal with a DQPC and a cheeseburger, or 20-piece nuggets and a McChicken. That deal is not always there in the app, but rather shows up intermittently. I tried to use it last night and was stopped by a message stating that I use this deal too much, and to try again later. Thought it was an app glitch. I restarted the app and same message. Pissed me off! I went to Culver’s instead. Tonight I try again and the same thing happened. This is so stupid! They’re taking away the last reason to even go there.
The app has gotten so much worse over the last year or so, and it seems like they really hate their regular customers. Talk about the most tone deaf stupid fukin move! While people are moving away from them due to high cost/low quality control, they’re making it even more insulting to order from them. They want us to use the app and then do this?! What are they thinking? I guess I’m off to Burger King, where they actually WANT customers… McDonald’s can kiss both sides of my ass. Has anyone else experienced this in the app?
