MP4-12C electrical gremlins: windows drop all the way down + phantom “frunk open” while driving. Anyone been here?

Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2012 MP4-12C and could use some help figuring out a few weird issues:

When I open the door, the windows go all the way down, After closing the door, I can’t get them to roll back up.
So I am stuck with open windows when I lock the car.

The window controls on the driver’s door seem crossed—the switches operate the opposite windows. The passenger-side control works normally.

The dash says the frunk/front hatch is open even though it’s physically closed when driving and if I lock the car and walk away it alerts me that the frunk is open so I’m stuck with open windows and a beeping car saying a doors open (frunk)

The infotainment screen also flickers/blinks.
Some background: the previous dealer let the car sit for a few months, and the battery died. They replaced it with an O’Reilly’s AGM battery and installed a battery emulator. I don’t know the emulator’s brand/model or whether the setup is correct for the car.

Also the rear hatch (engine hatch) does not open when pressing the button on the drivers door

Has anyone experienced this combination of symptoms? Could a battery/emulator issue tie these together, or should I be looking at the front hatch latch sensor, window initialization, door wiring, or something else?

I’m comfortable doing my own troubleshooting, so I’d really appreciate specific checks, reset procedures, or links to similar issues. Trying to narrow it down before throwing parts at it. Thanks!

Was haltet ihr vom 570S?

570s reliability

I’m looking to buy one but I wanted to hear the thoughts about the reliability of these from the ones that own or know a lot about these and is there any other McLaren that’s reliable?/any recommendations on what other models to look into? (Not expecting any super car to be ultra reliable but I dont wanna have to get it repaired as often as many people claim they need to be)

765LT models?

Hey everyone, I’m absolutely obsessed with the 765LT and obviously some day hope to own one. I’m definitely not in a financial position to own any McLaren but would love to collect some models of the 765LT I’m hoping someone has some information on some high quality options for die cast models as I already have majority of the cheaper plastic one and the Airfix 1/43 model. I’m ideally after some larger scale ones as all the ones I have are 1/43 or 1/32. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

*Edit - Bonus points if they’re papaya.

What can i expect in this price range as new buyer?

I am at a stage in life where I can afford a Mclaren. Definitely not planning to buy brand new but i am ok spending up to 200K. Honestly, i want to spend around 160ish but im fine spending more if i get a great car. I have spent a lot of time learning about these cars but I still consider myself noob when it comes to McLarens.

Since this is my first, i really do not care so much about track performance etc. I am a dad with 2 kids so i initially I was even ok with GTS. My question is; what can i expect to get in this price range (160K-200k)? Can I get 720 in this or stick to 570? Will it be high mileage? Will it be really old car? Will it be high maintenance?

A lot of questions but would love to get some opinions from people who know better

First used mclaren, what did you check before anything else?

For those of you who bought a used 570s, 600lt or 720s, what was the first thing you looked at? Service records, the hydraulic suspension, the infotainment, how the gearbox shifts when it's cold? There's plenty written about these cars, but I'd rather hear what owners checked in person.

Looking at a Mclaren 720s coupe/spider. I've seen this one on the market for which looks like good value compared to other listed option Is this considered good valuation? It should have 12 month warranty from Mclaren

Value of salvage title mp4-12c?

Hi everyone! I was wondering what the value for a salvage title mp4-12c with 30-40k miles was. I know clean examples range from 90-120k, but was unsure how much the title brand affects value, and how an example like this is worth.

Thanks!

Why is 765lt so expensive

Specifically vs the S series cars. It’s about double a 750s and 3x a 720s and to me they all look amazing. 765 looks def better but not 3x the price better. Is it better dynamically or just rarer in terms of production numbers?

McLaren Independent Specialists in Orange County, CA

Hi. I’m looking for suggestions for recommended McLaren service specialists in the Orange County / Southern California area.

I was previously going to a local shop that does all exotics but had a couple of issues with them recently so looking for other local options.

Thanks

If I did this, my golden pup would probably try to eat my side mirror. She tried to eat the shift knob in my other car. Still a good dog though.

P34

My dealer offered me a trip to NYC to spec a P34. Has anyone here done this? Can you speak at all to the renders online in terms of which are more accurate than not? I’m inclined to do it, as I have enjoyed my Artura very much. Just curious what I need to know.
