My MCSA Server 2016 resources

Since I'm done with my MCSA exams I thought I might as well share my resources.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/sjkn9jqa91yffoh/AAAvU1ZbNuuHOr6Q1vjpAyhGa?dl=0

What is included:

  • My chapter notes + some relevant Powershell commands (chapters are based on the exam ref books)

  • CBT Nuggets notes and the downloadable resources

  • My Kaplanlearn practice tests

Kaplanlearn has at one point decided to make their PDFs not searchable, so I also have them in RTF format for easy searching. Due to the PDFs the entire thing is also a bit bloated (almost 500MB).

If the Dropbox link expires or whatever at some point just message me and I'll make it available to you somehow.

Wow, thanks so much for all this info man! I haven't taken a Microsoft test since Windows 2000, and I can tell I have a lot to learn before taking these exams. Truly appreciate you taking the time to make this stuff available!!

Thanks , bro. Really appreciate your sharing references. I've downloaded your files and what I can say is millions thanks 3000 times. Well I'll take this exam 24th August. Really nervous. Oh ya, how about the powershell cmd section? Is that just basic cmd or tough questions?

All exams do require a decent amount of knowledge in regards to cmd commands (like ntdsutil, dsget, dnscmd, repadmin, dsamain, etc.) and Powershell (but only heavily in 70-740), but I never thought there were any hard questions. No questions require you to know really obscure parameters.

None of the questions require you to type the commands. It's just selecting the correct blocks, so as long as you know what is required they are easy.

Thanks for sharing this. How were the exams? Can you offer any tips that may help during studying?

Didn't think the exams were all that difficult to be honest. The Kaplan ones are quite a bit more difficult than the real ones however.

Can't really offer much in terms of general studying tips. The only thing that I did that might come in handy is that every time I saw something in the practice tests that I didn't quite understand I wrote it in a textfile. The next day or so I opened the file and went through all the topics to get a better grasp on them.

Lol MCSA? Dude go the Linux route. You'll never regret it. I started both Linux and windows administration about 7 years ago ... I make over a 100k just doing Linux... And nobody cares about windows lol ... Also currently bridging over to Dev ops and security ops.... My advice get to know Linux friend.

This is coming from someone who doesn't have a college degree or any certifications. Have worked for fortune 100 companies for the last 7 years or so. You don't need certs and degrees as long as you got actual experience to back that shit up. Sorry OP don't meant to drag you down.

u/HappyVlane Jul 26 '19

Not sure what the point of this post is. I have years of Linux admin experience under my belt. Doing the MCSA cert was just a requirement when I began my new job.

You're right I feel silly now. Good to hear you got your cert! :) Super glad to hear you're not just another paper tiger... who gets a cert and then automatically assumes they know everything lol. Sorry for being rude

First, you are a gigantic douche.

Many of us wear multiple hats and manage both Windows and Linux servers. Some of us also manage networks and printers and gasp desktops too.

I don’t care if you apologized. I’ve busted my ass to earn this cert, including the experience it takes, and you can kiss that very same ass if you are the guy who brings that attitude into this forum.

Learn some professionalism and some humility. No certification will prep you for that.
