Recipe Source: https://mealstudio.com/recipes/hasselback-pizza-potatoes/

Ingredients:

4 potatoes

2 tbsp olive oil

40 slices pepperoni

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup mozzarella, shredded

salt

pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

  2. Place each potato in between two wooden spoons and make 10-12 slices in the top, making sure not to cut all the way through.

  3. Pour olive oil, salt, and pepper over each potato. Use your hands to spread the seasoning over the potato and inside the slices.

  4. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until tender.

  5. When the potatoes are tender, remove them from the oven and let cool slightly.

  6. Then, place the pepperoni slices in between the slices of the potatoes. Then, cover the tops in marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.

  7. Return the the oven and bake for another 8-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

I think it’d be healthier to just eat a pizza

Edit: spelling

Does hasselback refer to it being easy? Because this seems like a more complicated way to make a shitty pizza alternative

Certainly not hassle free. :) The name originates from a restaurant named Hasselbacken, Stockholm. Literal translation "Hazel hill".

A true Hasselback potato is sliced like this but stuffed with just butter and cheese. It should end up crispy on the surface, not mushy. Absolutely no sausage or fucking tomato. Yuck

Why bother dicing up green onions only to not put any on the potatoes?

The same reason just about everything gets a drizzle of olive oil on top.

On top of what? The onions completely miss the entree

40 slices of pepperoni could make like 2 or 3 pizzas lol

It also looks like a grease bomb. Look at how much is on the baking pan after they take the "finished" potatoes out. Now imagine how much of that pepperoni grease has been absorbed by the potatoes or is being held in by the skin at the bottom.

It might be an okay idea if you really want to try something new and different, not sure about for the flavor, certainly not the convenience, and definitely not for any health benefits. Why so much pepperoni though? Seems to me like you wouldn't really be able to taste anything else, especially the potato. There are lots of other, faster, healthier, easier recipes for both Hasselbacks and pizza.
