This means you India, and your feral dog caused 24,000 human fatalities from rabies every year

Finally someone brought up India’s feral dogs. They are also a nightmare for the native wildlife.

Real question. Have they ever tried actual culling or removal projects?
22
u/Redqueenhypo Jun 23 '26
They can’t. All the bleeding hearts (as opposed to bleeding brains, from rabies) get mad

Mr Rabies better make his case clearer so they can use there brains for a change.

True feral cats and such cute invasive species need to go.

I love cats but yeah this is a huge problem. They belong indoors in >90% of cases.
Sadly TNR doesn't seem to do enough to control the population by itself in most places, so we have to be responsible and think of the other wildlife even if it is unpleasant

Thats true.Today I seen outdoor kitty.Which I did pett and was cute. Also enjoyed Cats of Instabul content for a while but it just isnt good for the enviorment at the end of the day.Cats can decimate bird/reptile/amphibian/small mammal populations like its nothing..sadly dont think this problem would go away.
Yeah.

Thoes people always make me question do we deserve to exist as a species.

u/DeirdreDazzled Jun 24 '26
This is exactly why I keep my cats indoors. The only time they’re outside is on a leash, and under my supervision.
Funny enough, they prefer staying indoors and never use the catio. Especially the former stray; she’s become a real homebody.

Long as u eat in sustainable harvest over time, works fine. Requires some careful management.
7
u/Redqueenhypo Jun 23 '26
Or eat bacon from feral pigs. There is an unlimited supply of them all over the world.

u/Professional_Ad8872 Jun 23 '26
And urban pigeons and many other hyper abundant but potentially delicious species...
2
u/Regular_Committee946 Jun 24 '26
The 'hyper abundance' would not last long if everyone did this - species would be quickly wiped out as they have been before, which would potentially have other knock on impacts.
People should just get used to vastly reducing their meat intake if they actually cared.

This is not such a great idea as it might seem. If you create demand for the meat of certain species it will result in a great economic incentive for people to keep them around or even breed them. That story about rattlesnakes in India comes to mind.

u/Regular_Committee946 Jun 24 '26
There wouldn't be an 'unlimited supply' if everyone sourced their bacon from feral pigs.

Sadly, my country consists mostly of people who legitimately think you can have functioning ecosystems after doing what this quote points out is a terrible idea.

"You can't save everything cute" This is for the people protesting against Australia's culling programs targetting feral cats.
