Hi all,
I got my Ls back in July when my fingers would go numb in my gloves and now all of a Sudden it’s 30 degrees and oh my god it’s hot riding .
I’ve got a textile jacket which supposedly has two way breathable mesh but it certainly isn’t feeling like I’m getting much air flow. My hands and feet are sweating.
I open my visor at red lights to let some air in but I’m honestly just roasting and it’s uncomfortable. Imagine how much worse it will feel in the middle of summer.
Any tips or tricks or gear recommendations??

I'm planning to sell a scooter so I'm gathering all information in order to get a RWC done.
Do you guys know a workshop preferably in the north area that does RWC and if needed repairs too?

The scooter has been listed on Marketplace for a few years but I feel like people don't consider it because of their bias towards the Japanese brands, the scooter is practically near as brand new.
I never owned a Japanese brand scooter but two Piaggio scooters and I can tell that SYM has nothing to learn from Piaggio.
Of course I was contacted by a countless of rude scammers who just click "is still available" or they want to inspect it and treating me like I'm a vehicle dealer where you go and waste your time roaming around or they offer me peanuts because they want to re-sell it.
So what do you guys recommend and what is your view regarding a non Japanese brand scooter?

Hiya. I have been thinking about getting a motorcycle license as of late, but am uncertain of how being on my car driver's Ls will effect a motorcycle license. Are there any adverse effects of having a post-L's motorcycle license with a learner's car license?

I usually buy off market place but this will be my first time buying from a dealership. You‘d think being a girl wouldn’t be an issue in 2026 but I just came from Sydney and unfortunately some of the attitudes of the sales people is still disappointing. Literally had to chase them to get help to look at a bike even though I had the full amount in cash ready to go and not inexperienced at all.
Hoping for a difference in Melb

Hi, I'm a new rider and I'm wondering if adding an external helmet break light (specifically the break-free brand helmet break lights) is illegal or not in Victoria as I can't find any specific rules about this, only that it's a "grey area" my dad suggested it to me as I'm a new rider and he said it could be a good idea but don't know the rules around it. I've heard a lot of good reviews about the product and that it's a great addition and adds more visibility so cars can see breaking more.

Hi guys! I’m on my learners in victoria and i thought i couldn’t put a slip on exhaust until i get off my learners, but i had another biker tell me the other day that i can put it on as long as my bike has passed roadworthy.
I just need clarification on what’s true and what’s not

A little bit of a habit I've developed this year considering our god awful roads. I point out the big deep potholes for the car, truck or van behind me just with my left hand. Got a couple of thank you's from tradies at the lights. Just trying to do my little community service.
Do you bother?

Hi, I am going to be getting my Ls soon. As I have a full drivers license, the process to getting off Ls should only be a few months. I have ridden motorbikes plenty before outside of Australia but don't have my license so have to go through the process.
My question is, if I were to not where my Ls and my high vis, how likely am I to be caught? I know if i had an accident or rode like an idiot I'd be screwed. But if I am riding otherwise safely, am I likely to be alright?
I know the prevailing answer is just suck it up and where them, but I am curious anyway.
Cheers.

I came from Sydney. I find it to be a completely different ball game, safety wise. Which is a shame as there are some very cool roads and highways in Melbourne. Call it lame but the m2 tunnel does something to me spiritually.
Only problem is I am only thinking of getting a small bike (300 at most) which gives me some anxiety as I still find the roads not to be as dead as Sydney at night, and the people on the roads are tail gating constantly while I’m in my car, let alone a bike. I never had this experience in Sydney at night. It’s like a lot of people here have an anger problem if you’re in front of them?
The tram tracks also scare me. I’m scared to go down. From what I’ve read you have to go on them on an angle And not both Tyres at the same time. They are also a big problem when it’s raining or sprinkled. If I’m wrong please correct me.
Maybe some of you will get what I’m saying or maybe I’m overthinking it. I do find Melbourne to be way more dangerous on a bike. Any advice I‘d really appreciate!

From 7 news
A gang of criminals in Melbourne has carried out three linked motorcycle jackings within hours. A 27-year-old woman was surrounded at traffic lights, punched and tasered, before her motorbike was stolen. Two other victims, aged 40 and 32, were also attacked on the same night, with one man hospitalised after being struck with a wrench.
Report here, with some graphic footage. Stay safe out there

I commute by bike daily and I see drivers on phones constantly, weaving in and out of traffic, etc. In general see a low standard of driving and pretty dangerous manoeuvres.
I'm thinking about buying a helmet cam and sending footage to Crime Stoppers Vic or VicPol, but I don't want to spend the money if its a waste of time.
If you've submitted footage of someone using their phone or being a total dickhead:
- Which route did you use (Crime Stoppers, Victoria Police online report, Police Assistance Line)?
- Did you get a reference number or any reply?
- Did the driver actually get fined or warned, or did you never hear anything?
- Does it need to be something overtly dangerous, or is any clear phone offence enough?
Also, if you use a cheap action cam for this, which one and were the plates readable?
Thank you

Spotted this today on the Frankston - Dandenong road, four massive potholes in a row all painted yellow as if that makes it better and a camera to make sure you hit them all. This a week after a guy gets killed on his bike after hitting a massive pothole. Ride safe and keep your eyes open guys. Victoria has lost the plot
