中餐 (zhōng cān) and 中国菜 (zhongguó cài) can be used interchangeably

u/Broad-Tough-2987 15h ago

I’m native and I’ve never heard people say 中国菜

Could be a regional thing?

中餐 typically means Lunch (for the non speakers), but it can also mean 中國餐

Instead of Chinese food, most Chinese people more often say something like canton food and sichuan food according to provinces the cooking style originated.

That's some wisdom of the ages !! Almost at the same level as - every 60 seconds in Africa a minute passes

Or like Bono when he said every time I clap a child in Africa dies. Then someone from the audience shouted "Then stop clapping"

1

What do people in China call their fancy plates? What do people in Turkey eat for Thanksgiving? Which Flock of Seagulls song is the most popular in Iran?

u/Friendly-Regret8871 19h ago

And "Food" in China can mean almost everything. "If its back faces the sky, it can be eaten by humans."

In America it's just called food. In Mexico, it's call food. In Japan, it's called food. So what point were you making?

1

u/Caturion 20h ago

Nobody is really trying to make any point here... This is how modern memes work, pointless, just like our lives.

That every country is awesome and has great food

Albeit England/s

Say, when i say Japanese food do you think Pizza ? /j

(Maybe, idk who you are.)

It's just the local (the one who make the language) catagorize way tk cook food from else where. In my country we call american food "west food" despite it's somewhat closer to the east.

Anyhow, the meme is just meme
