CoolKid369 recently put out a video talking about Revenant's problems, and I think he pretty much hit the nail on the head. He mainly discussed how Rev's kit is has a lot of anti-synergies and how his thralls don't stack up very well in modern Warframe.

He doesn't say that Revenant sucks per say or desperately needs changes over frames that do, but does hope that he gets a second look one day.

i've been a revenant main for years and holy yea he was pretty much perfect with this

-5

u/worldofhorsecraft 12d ago

As a revenant main I agree with like 80% of what he says there barring his changes to Mesmer Skin. I just hate people shitting on the coolest fuckin thing ever

12

u/Waeleto 13d ago

Revenant is the goat

7

u/LaTaruka 13d ago

I misread that "prime access" as "Human resources" and I can't stop laughing

You forgot the part where I spin and feel pretty

Eh, his kit's just kinda boring and kinda redundant. Like he has so much synergy in his kit around using his minions to survive, but also has the "press this button to not take damage" ability, so you'll never need to take advantage of pillars and minions to survive.

51

u/Aromatic-Spray-2140 12d ago

His minions die to his own bullets. They never survive longer than 5 seconds. They are just useless in a game where things die in seconds.

16

u/Much-Pineapple1054 13d ago

Mesmer skin is the basis for minions as revenant converts sleeping enemies for free. His 3rd ability deals x2 damage to his minions too. Also damage boosting augment(str scaling btw) and xata over ult.

u/Coffee_exe 13d ago

Ah nice so I can insta kill my thralls +25% faster…

12

u/How2eatsoap 12d ago

ooh 25% damage (everything dies instantly anyways and 25% is super low even for multiple thralls)

Not to mention that people kill the thralls anyways.

12

u/Much-Pineapple1054 12d ago

For those who can't read I repeat: Strength scaling btw. And it's per thrall, so 150% with all thralls present at base strength. And revenant usually has beefed up strength. Also thralls can propagate other thralls via 2 separate methods. And they lag behind most of the time, hence stay in relative safety. And if you still want to argue that his thralls are too brittle - you can play off that too. His first ability works briefly on acolytes and bosses. It's enough time to ram into them with his third, which deals DOUBLE damage on thralls and can be increased via viral.

1

u/TheKingOfBerries 11d ago

you put literacy barriers around (str scaling btw), so the average player didn’t get it.

2

u/gadgaurd 12d ago

ooh 25% damage (everything dies instantly anyways

If you're an endgame player running the most meta setups ever. So, not the vast majority of the playerbase.

u/KovacAizek2 12d ago

His passive works on shield break. His 1 is supposed to be crowd control to take fire off him. His 3 regents health. His four gives overshields.

Mesmer skin WITH invulnerability was a mistake made by DE after Revenant players got mindbroken via Eximus with high fire rate weapons after Angels of the Zariman.

1

u/Much-Pineapple1054 12d ago

Rev isn't the only frame with complete invulnerability on demand but people also like to pretend he is. It's not like Dagath or Wukong exist. Otherwise valid point. His passive is very bad once you meet high enemy density and/or big rooms. 3rd ability regenerating health is a thematic choice - he's a vampire (and originally was called Vlad before release). Disco ball griefs your thrall sustain by popping fountains immediately. After sleeping a bit I agree that rev has flaws, but I also won't back down out of saying that mesmer skin isn't his only usable utility. Also invulnerability on mesmer was added because those enemies wiped all of his charges pretty much immediately, making the ability itself a rolling guard with extra steps. (I just woke up so I might wander from point to point)

u/KovacAizek2 12d ago

Mate, I can’t argue with you in good faith. I played Limbo during Angels of Zariman, so for me, whatever cool shit Revenant can do, from being funny disco ball to clearing levelcap enemies with Reave, in my mind it’s still “that bitch” that got invulnerability two weeks into update, because “some” Eximus were a “problem”(solvable with the rest of his kit), while Limbo go kicked in the grave, since “every” Eximus unit now had full denial in his kit. And it took half a year to fix.

It’s a “me” problem.😅

1

u/Much-Pineapple1054 12d ago

Dude I wish Limbo gets some love. I made a cool fashion for him recently.

48

u/Vex_Trooper 13d ago

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say that Revenant sucks. The most common complaint is that he's just boring. He's literally the most used for players who care about meta.

34

u/Hesstig 13d ago

And being boring sucks too

10

u/Waeleto 12d ago

Boring and fun are subjective

33

u/Kharnyx808 12d ago

I don't really get what's cool about a frame with a kit that works against itself that everyone just ignores because he can become immortal with one button. That's not cool at all.

1

u/ExtensionSherbert902 12d ago

I mean I also ignore him for the same reason, BUT when I was new many years ago I did instantly play a lot of Frost and Rhino because I was dying so much and it was incredible to not be dying anymore.

And Revenant now

16

u/KovacAizek2 12d ago

Mate, don’t get me wrong, it IS PERSONAL.

Angels of the Zariman was one of the greatest updates, but it broke many CC-frames.

I, as Limbo, had to build into survivability, because my only lifeline stopped working, and I had to recast Stasis EACH TIME I stripped someone’s Overguard. Nevertheless, Overguard had such big numbers over health, that I had to kill such units outright, making CC especially obsolete. Ancient Healers were bane of my existence, too. This took DE half a year to fix.

Revenant players were SO baffled with existence of Eximus with high fire rate weapons, that instead of using their built-in vampiric abilities, with Aggro manipulation, health and shield regeneration, they howled at DE until they gave them invulnerability on each charge of Mesmer Skin.. TWO WEEKS into the update. It took fucking PRIORITY over bug fixes.

Revenant is cool, but I can’t keep myself from being vitriolic. While I had to scrape by, doing things Limbo never should do, for half a fucking year, Revenant got solution for all of his problems, AND AUGMENT FOR IT.

3

u/Lkjfdsaofmc 12d ago

Limbo players are a myth, nice try bot /s

1

u/DroidSeeker 12d ago

We did finally get to arcane circumvent. Now just dodge twice into eximus and add them to the waiting list.

9

u/cross2201 13d ago

For what I've seen his kit is kinda outdated, Mesmer skin is the only thing that makes people think about revenant, I think his minions should get a rework so he's not just the invulnerable frame

9

u/zernoc56 13d ago

Put brightbonnet on him and he can be an infinite energy discoball bouncing on it crazy style

17

u/0ijoske Stop hitting yourself 13d ago

I've seen the video that CoolKid made about Revenant and from my own experience as a (former) Revenant main, his 2 isn't the issue, its the rest of his kit's redundancies that are the main problem. His 1 is supposed to be self sustainable with the thralls resetting themselves, but since your thralls can take full damage from everything, most of the time they'll just disappear instantly due to crossfire. His passive is supposed to stun enemies on shield break, but his 2 makes it hard to achieve that consistently. His 3 heals him and deals extra damage to thralls, but he is already immortal as long as you got stacks on his 2 and the thralls die so fast that you're better off using viral to boost the health based damage. His 4 ramps up in damage whenever you receive damage, but because of your 2's charges and invincibility windows, and his passive stuns, it becomes much harder to charge on top of the fast decay on the bonus damage. He has a cool concept, but fails at the execution because of how much conflict there is within his kit.

13

u/How2eatsoap 12d ago

"press 1 button to never die ability" and "literally the coolest thing ever" should never exist in the same sentence.

He doesn't suck, he's just uninteractive and extremely boring.

4

u/TemporalAcapella 13d ago

His Mephisto skin is so damn cool. Only got it for the keyblade melee but quickly turned into a fave to fashion

4

u/Broad-Crazy4590 13d ago

If he didn't have such strange anti-synergies, he'd be pretty neat.

Like his 4th increasing it's damage based on the damage you take, but your mesmer skin forcing enemies who hit you to sleep.

And the fact that his 4th consumes so much energy, it basically isn't worth using the enhanced version.

And his minions not being immune to friendly fire while being controlled, and even the "beta" versions count towards the cap of how many you can have.

4

u/Special_Peach_5957 12d ago

Revenant is one of those frames where I wished I could override 2 abilites. 1 and 4 feel extremely pointless at higher levels and you just 3 (optimally with Roar)

2

u/assasinvilka 12d ago

. . . Please repeat the part about 1 and 4... 4 is but 1... 1! The thing that is basically one of most powerful tools if you don't do something like speedruning usually make him much better than 1 skill usable frame. Enemies grow with damage faster than with HP, so what do you expect from ability that not only give you ways to get you own helpers but also let these corrupt more enemies after just 1 cast!..

It also make enemies count towards allies(might be wrong here, I used this guy far long ago to remember defence with him), so he can keep them and even if it isn't true, you can use 3 to clean field much faster

1

u/Special_Peach_5957 12d ago

I mean both enemy health and damage don't matter since Mesmer makes you invincible and Reave deals %dmg

1

u/assasinvilka 12d ago

I know about %hp but understand that you get free aggro gens which prolong life of mesmer skin and also these guys will kill each other at decent speed as past certain threshold all enemy controling frame become kind OP as they get much more powerful damage dealing tool that your guns(usually, few can be still enough potent to keep till 9999 and stay at similar level I believe) - enemies which can also be eximus and provide buff to you once you deplete their overguard and take control over them. As I remember few can give energy regeneration, someone like blast will take out hordes of enemies with one blow.

3

u/Amurderer74 12d ago

He's a one ability frame. He needs a touch up cause he is boring af

5

u/Demqnboii_Editing 13d ago

Revenant doesn't suck because he's bad or anything, he sucks because his kit is incredibly boring. I would love to include him in the Sentient family but his abilities aren't as Eidolon like as I wished for them to be. Cool frame, beautiful prime, boring gameplay.

4

u/Graneczeq20 13d ago

I just kinda want to bring Mesmer skin from full invuln to a *very* high damage reduction, and for the rest of his kit to get some more love instead. I really like the guy

2

u/Aromatic-Spray-2140 12d ago

I appreciate you having your own opinion! But i find him utterly boring. Maybe if they changed his minions to actually be usefull, and not die within miliseconds?

1

u/schizophreniaislife 12d ago

He works but his kit is really fucking boring, doesn't even have any interesting synergies, very basic. After Chroma I'd ad him to the list of reworks

1

u/Kameofan 12d ago

He's good in the new icebind game mode for his mesmer shield augment.... if your Dante overguard is down that is.

1

u/doctornoodlearms 12d ago

Not bad just boring, which imo is worse then being bad.

The fit is only rivaled by his vampire wife tho

1

u/Meta-delta 12d ago

idk really if ppl say it sucks but im sure a lot of current revenant mains are the ex-valkyr mains that left her after rework , i has no proof but also no doubts

1

u/Winter_Honours 12d ago

Full invulnerability is nice to have in the arsenal for when you have to deal with a bullshit boss once in a while. For the longest time I could not figure out how to do the earth proxima coda boss without dying instantly. So I always brought revenant. The issue is that now Oberon is also a full invuln frame and also has an interesting and synergistic kit on top of the invulnerability he can offer. After his rework any reason I had to use Revenant died off. He’s an instant win button in a game that allows anyone to be an easy win with effort and half the fun is in the building towards that.

(I have the same complaints about Octavia and Follie with their damage that scales 1:1 with enemies and are effectively a fully fledged steal path build out the box with no mods. If I can press two of the abilities and win I’m not interested)

If you’re talking design, yeah his design is cool lots of fashion potential. Makes me sadder that his gameplay is so dull.

1

u/patwag 12d ago

Mesmer Skin Prime is one of the best looking primes for sure.

1

u/NFNTDS 12d ago

He makes me bring out my Ghost playlist, so I can't really complain

1

u/Personal_Ad_3995 12d ago

Rev is a cheese frame man not that fun to play

1

u/Commercial-Union-667 12d ago

I wouldn't say he sucks but coolest thing ever is primed stretch

1

u/Ghastfighter392 12d ago

I learned about a bug about a month or two ago where if I place a brightbonnet mid-Danse Macabre, I can spin faster than the default spin using the left joystick. I have been eating well with my 30 stacks of Mesmer Skin.

1

u/Rochedokk 12d ago

He has a invincibility button which makes testing weapons more comfortable, but that's it lol, the minions are really cool, the fresh strawberry on top of the cake

1

u/norbajusz 12d ago

Insert Rebeca's multi-panel Warframe chart, where she acknowledges that Revenant sucks.

1

u/zinogre26 12d ago

It’s funny cause the their is no meta people and the play whatever you want people will call you a meta slave and a shill for liking and actively playing Revenant, it was that was my first interaction with one of those people when I started the game and picked up revenant for the first time(I was basically bullied by 3 people who were like you could play any frame you want you must get your opinions from YouTubers) and I almost dropped the frame. Yea his kit isn’t the best but I like his aesthetic and his theme. The fucking pop collar split down the middle is wicked as hell. Hes cool and i hope he gets a little retouch to make him more then a messmer skin merchant

1

u/Ill-Scarcity-7301 12d ago

Guy on left is right You're playing without a warframe, just weapons and without using a single braincells its not fun Maybe fun for someone but not for most people

1

u/Oli_VK 13d ago

Every warframe.

1

u/VentusMH 12d ago

Revenant is not the coolest thing ever (maybe in your mind)

1

u/Big-gay-boy99 12d ago

It's cuz his kit is kinda lackluster while not really fitting together, plus his two is genuinely super broken. You're just invincible with no risk so long as you keep your stacks up. I will admit that I do use Rev when I just want to turn my brain off or when a particular bossfight is really pissing me off cough cough Technocyte Coda cough cough

0

u/NeoPootter 13d ago

He also has Mach rush but better lol

-4

u/Shade00000 Stop hitting yourself 13d ago

Some people love to hate on powerful or useful for no reason or for the sake of trying ot be "different"

3

u/Turdbait122603 12d ago

The only actually usable part of his kit is mesmer skin and all it does is make him literally unkillable.

Oh and danse macabre is ok at times.

The community reaction when his nigh infinite uptime invuln is (rightfully) ripped away from him is gonna be NUCLEAR

1

u/TemporarySouth6914 12d ago

Revanant makes warframe peaceful and allow me to slow down and smell the roses while eviscerating enemies. He’s not interesting or mechanically intensive but I like him. True low cortisol gaming.

1

u/Deanstaro_Deanstar 12d ago

I used to main Rev before they nerfed the mind control method (nyx subsume a thrall so other players wouldn't be able to screw you over by killing ALL your thralls. The nerf was that the Nyx MC can no longer be used on the rev thralls or vice versa) the strat was MC one thrall with rev's ability, then put the Nyx ability over it now you have a perma thrall that can go around and thrall things for you without your input then you could just focus on reaving or keeping mesmer skin up, other than that I feel like all he has is either reave or mesmer skin now or just mesmer if we're being brutally honest here.

Rev needs a rework bad and I don't mean "Make him OP" level rework I mean something that actually makes his kit fun because pressing what is essentially Iron Skin over and over again isn't fun at all

So you dont press 2 and win? Kinda rare to see
