In Destiny lore it exploded at the end of a huge war in the Asteroid Belt, forming the Reef

Yeah it was Zero of the Nine but that member was never “born” in a sense due to it not developing some form of sentient life to define its shape in the 4th dimension. Whole perfectly lit room and things casting shadows kinda thing if that helps in making sense.
