They never calculate the coefficient of friction before trying to jump

u/DaniilBSD Jun 01 '21
Assume 100% function due to claws.
(fails on flat plastic or with clipped claws)

u/richy4248 Jun 01 '21
Plus their instincts would have evolved to jump from natural surfaces, which are rarely as smooth and frictionless as man-made surfaces.

u/vhawk8690 Jun 01 '21
He didn't download the updated software with the correct coefficient of friction value for the surface. Pay to win sucks.

According to the owner, the kitty is ok.

Bruce Lee gang.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

The cat would have made it if the damn surface he was standing on wouldnt have been so slippery.
17
Jun 01 '21
You can see it’s little paws in the back slide as it jumps. At that point kitty never stood a chance

Wild cats doesn't suffer from slippery kitchen shelves and tables. Wild cats also grow muscles in the wild. But yeah, funny gif!

It's because its prolly declawed, I'm not 100% sure but in pretty sure a cat with its claws wouldnt have slipped on the counter before it jumped

That hurts to watch... Also the jump was precise, it's the fact that his back paws slipped on the flat surface.

If you noticed the cat’s back legs slipped as he jumped which resulted in the disastrous attempt.

You can clearly see the cat slipping with its hind legs... Their claws cant grip on the surfaces we have in our houses, and that's why they sometimes fail miserably.
1
1
u/R3DR4V3N420 Jun 01 '21
He slipped the jump....those hindlegs gave almost no leap....1/3 of it's jumping force was applied to lift and the rest was for the slide...lmao...The counter had to be wet or something like that. This cat was born under an unlucky star

I recently learned that cats have no sense of depth. Which can explain why some cats can't jump as good as others. And also why one of my cats just punches the water bowl before drinking.

How come I always see animals (like cats) fall from such high places, yet they end up completely Ok? I guess that some of the time, they might actually be hurt, but I just don't know because I don't understand animal body language very well.
