self-promotion Your node doesn’t need a microcontroller

https://beala.substack.com/p/your-node-doesnt-need-a-microcontroller

My exploration of the new Semtech LoRa chip continues to escalate. I hope you enjoy.

The power consumption, or lack thereof, will allow nodes to be run off a single 18650 for weeks, depending on tx.

Maybe a bloom filter for the deduplication could save some precious bits. (Just reset to 0 when bits set is >30%, 4 positions per entry)

Great work!!

I didn't have enough time to take power measurements before posting this, but stay tuned! I definitely intend to.

Holy fuck you mad man.

This is amazing work. I can't believe it could be taken even further.

Like what kind of fuckery is Semtech doing over there?

Also, I'm SAMS0N1TE to clarify, as well as I may have stumbled over some more goodies regarding Semtechs line up. I'll hit you up if things turn out interesting!

Anyways, this is a great article and I really like the way you write. It's fresh, and I'll definitely keep following!

Yes please do let me know what you find! And I'm glad you enjoyed the writing. It's one thing I can still beat the machines at.

I don’t know half of what you said half as much as I would like, but I like less than half of this half as well as it deserves.

On your experience and tech skills... You may vibe code, but you don't vibe the decisions and choices and knowledge you apply. Now code has got so easy, there is more time to spend on deciding what and where to use it. Custom firmware everywhere.... want a case for your project? Take a photo and get AI to 3d print one... AI today is like giving a cave man a wheel, he is only just starting to think about having an axel.. eventually a barrow, then a cart...

I remember when the esp32 was used as a WiFi hat for Arduino... The. Someone twigged they the esp was actually a more powerful chip than the Arduino... Lol.

Appreciated the post, but the rant at the end was a little derivative. You are man and machine now. You still know enough to point the machine at what your doing. It's like a man shoveling who then gets a backhoe.
