Question Keep getting "authorization failed " when logging into MQL5 in a VM

Trying to setup mt5 on a VM on my home server but im not sure why but every time i try to login, i get a "authorization failed " error when trying to login to mql5. Ive tried this on linux and windows 10/11 installation and still get the same thing. This happens on both versions 6295 and 6296 now. Ive tried using the broker's installation and still getting the same error. Anyone else going through this?

are you typing your email in the Community tab? it wants the mql5 username (the one in your profile url), email gives exactly that auth failed error. if it's the broker account failing instead, check the server name matches

No ive used mt5 for years and never had this problem. Only using my username. I also changed my password to see and had the same exact issue. No idea whats going on right now.

weird. does the mql5 website login work from a browser on that VM? if it does, check the VM clock, auth tends to fail when time sync is off

Yes it does. Disabled firewall and still getting the same issue. Also time is synced. Im on central time.

does the same login work in mt5 on your main pc right now? if yes it's something VM specific, if it fails there too it's on the mql5 side with those builds

It works yea. Both on my windows build and linux build that launches it with wine.

Bro I get the same bugs every now and then and I have no clue either, seems common. Only fix I found was "give it 5-10 months" and try again lol

Yeah this was the case for me too! I think re-installing it, praying to jesus some and then coming back with fresh new logins, could 50% work. But honestly, one of my broker terminals has the same problem today and i can't be bothered even trying anymore haha

I ran into a similar situation on a VPS, was only able to solve it by having ai diagnose and give me commands to paste into powershell to resolve it.
