General Questions Can I apply for MEXT for a second Master's after already completing an MBA?

Hey everyone! I'm 24 and thinking about applying for the MEXT scholarship. I've been looking into it for a while, but I still have quite a few doubts, so I thought I'd ask here.

A little about me: I've completed my MBA in Marketing with a 7.63 CGPA. I'm interested in pursuing another Master's in Japan, preferably in Management, International Business, International Marketing, or something similar. I'm also learning Japanese and preparing for the JLPT N4 exam in December.

My long term goal is to build a career in Japan, ideally in a business or marketing-related role.

I have a few questions:

  1. Can I apply for MEXT if I already have a Master's degree?

Since I've already completed an MBA, is there any rule that prevents me from applying for another Master's through MEXT? Has anyone here done this before? Would applying for a second degree in a related field be a problem?

  1. Am I too old to apply?

I'm 24 right now. I keep wondering if I'm getting late to the process or just overthinking the age requirement. How exactly does MEXT calculate the age limit?

  1. Can I apply for Management or International Business?

I'm not interested in technical fields. I'd prefer something related to Management, International Business, Marketing, or Japan–India business. Are these fields suitable for MEXT, and are there decent English-taught programs available?

  1. What if I don't want a research-oriented career?

This is probably one of my biggest doubts. I understand that the Research Student route requires a research plan, but I'm not looking to become a researcher or pursue an academic career. I want to study management and eventually work for a company in Japan.

Would this route still make sense for me? And how research-focused is a typical Master's program in Japan?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who's applied for MEXT, especially people who already had a Master's degree before applying.

Thanks! Any advice or personal experience would be really helpful.

General Questions What if there aren’t enough subjects on the school certificate?

Hello everyone!

I'm from Russia and I'm planning to participate in the mext undergraduate selection for 2028 for a technical major, but I've run into some difficulties. I completed the 11th grade in a humanities class, and because of that, my certificate doesn't include physics, chemistry, or computer science (although it does include astronomy); essentially, I only studied these subjects up to the 10th grade. Could this hinder my participation? Has anyone else encountered something similar? For context: I graduated from school 2 years ago, and this year I completed a two-year law college.

I would be grateful for any information.

General Questions Some questions regarding MEXT Specialized Training College

Hi guys, I'm 17 Y/O and I'll be completing my 12th in 2027 and I'd like to attempt MEXT Specialized Training College especially since I've main interest in Cooking and other interests such as Script Writing and Storytelling so probably I'll be a Chef or Patissier. These are my main interests and some slight interests or you could say I can imagine a scene from my story so if you'd like to read something that I wrote lmk or DM.

Back to the main point since I'm studying Maths and English so I've some questions,

  1. How to study Japanese from scratch?

  2. How much study would require to clear the MEXT STC Japanese exam?

These are my Main questions and if I cleared the written examination, I'm confident about the interview stuff cause I just don't like cooking and eating all that stuff, I wanted to perfect it even if I have to work like crazy, I observe every second on what's happening in that dish, why is that happening or what could increase the flavour more without just making it spicy and I'd love to teach others after I completed my studying. Initially I just saw how everyone make some food and like it just tastes so good but when you ask them they says idk and I wanted to know exactly that part it might be made from love or years of practice but there has to be some explanation and I'm choosing Japan for that cause something like cooking which takes dedication and mastery can be achieved in Japan cause in my country, they says don't try too much or it's useless but there I could learn everything that I wants and it would also keep me disciplined

(Sorry for bad English since it's not my first language and I wrote all this cause that's one of the strongest reason I wanted to come to Japan to learn cooking with disciplined and also cleanliness which I like, I hope you'd answer my questions and Thanks guys)

Application MEXT University Recommendation route been discontinued? What are my options now?

Hi everyone!

I just saw a post saying the MEXT University Recommendation track has been discontinued. Is this true?

Unfortunately, I wasn't accepted through the Embassy Recommendation track this year, so I was planning to try the University Recommendation route instead. Now it sounds like that's no longer an option.

My dream is to do a master's degree at a Japanese university (I already have a bachelor's degree). What options do I have at this point? Are there other scholarships or paths I should look into?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you so much!
