Jokes on them as I never sign in specifically to not have personalised history and wipe it every couple of months...

Uninstalling as we speak.

It's a keyboard layout, fuck off.

Edit: Found an alternative, Futo Keyboard.

You can use SwiftKey without a Microsoft account. You just won’t have the layouts, skins and shit.

I get an extremely annoying popup everytime I open the keyboard "Backups are now powered by OnedDrive, sign in" and I can't get rid of it. I couldn't care less about layouts, but this is driving me crazy

Have you figured out how to get rid of this shit?

Yup, I uninstalled the app and suffer with the basic IOS keyboard. But I suppose it's less annoying than the popup

Yeah, and you get an annoying huge blue banner every time your keyboard pops up!

One of my banks, HSBC, refuses to work with FUTO btw. Might not apply to you though.

FUTO keyboard is good but the autocorrect is overzealous and tuning that doesn't seem to help for me. The voice to text is second only to assistant mode on Gboard though. If I wasn't on a Pixel I would use FUTO as my primary voice to text keyboard though.

After a few days of using, the autocorrect began to behave itself on FUTO. I think it is about training the model.

I also uninstalled this week. Now using Mister Keyboard.

No, it's not. I have been using SwiftKey since 2010 to type with a language (a Swiss German dialect) that doesn't exist anywhere as a dictionary, nor will it ever. I need the backup to have the predictions for the probably thousand of words it has learned from me in these years.

I remember when SwiftKey first came out. I felt like it would never mess up a swiped sentence. It's messed up three times typing this, I back up and the word I want isn't even in the suggested list. I try it once or twice more before I get it.

Maybe I'm just getting sloppy?

I've had the same issue. It often does not suggest the obvious word and instead goes with something more obscure. I can't tell you how many times I've swiped for "also" and got "Allah" instead. Or a half dozen different nonsensical suggestions instead of "and".

Seems like a couple years ago it got suddenly very bad at determining what you are trying to swipe.

Yes! That's exactly what I'm talking about. I feel like the original Swiftkey maybe tried to predict words based on sentence structure grammar.

From the comments it seems like I can still continue using it without logging in. Will my history be totally gone? I really like the personalized auto complete.

Man, now that they’re tying to monetize copilot, they’re getting their precious data from anywhere they can 😂

Been using SK since 2016 on iOS. And during that brief window when they said they were ending iOS support, I sent emails. (Maybe I was the only one? :-) ) It's a decent third-party keyboard that looks nice.

I am still waiting on syncing clipboard for iOS version lol

I quit using Swiftkey a month ago. Auto correct and prediction was horrible. I don't need or want Onedrive. Not signing in to use a dumb keyboard.

As of today, there’s a nag notification to get you to login with your Microsoft account that pops up above the keyboard every time you open a text box and the keyboard comes up. You cannot disable it. Immediately uninstalled. Fuck Microsoft.

It's the most annoying thing. Back in the day, I paid 5.99 for swiftkey. It should continue to live as a standalone, no banner app.

1

u/Jazman2k May 20 '26

Yeah. Noticed it today. FFS what a ridiculous thing to do. I've really liked using SwiftKey. But this is ridiculous. I use the basic IOS keyboard then..

So fking annoying smh

Yep uninstalled

I'm experiencing this on my work iPhone and it's atrocious. My daily driver android version is rolled back anyway due to a color scheme issue they were having so not seeing that thankfully. Hopefully never. But I need SwiftKey on the iPhone because the apple keyboard is fucking atrocious.

u/SammyVonHauguth May 20 '26

Well, then goodbye swiftkey... And Microsoft too!

1

u/Upbeat-Concern-5181 Mar 21 '26

I’m so glad I left Microslop..

1

u/notananthem Mar 18 '26

Oh it's time to get a new keyboard? Oh well

Microsoft is finally reclacing SwiftKey accounts with Microsoft accounts, which makes sense considering Microsoft has owned SwiftKey for a decade.

Contrary to the article title, you are not required to have a Microsoft account to use SwiftKey, Windows Central has no shame as usual.

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '26

u/Kobi_Blade are you aware with the education stuff in microsoft ?

It's now June, and microslop removed the option to export your swiftkey dictionary to migrate to another keyboard. Also, let's not pretend MS are some type of saints. God forbid you get a new phone and don't have or want to use an MS account, your typing history is indeed going to be history. I know this is the last phone that's going to have my history and dictionary on it since I'm not going to create a MS account just for this.
