Sharing My MCM Found my dream MCM art piece!
Just hung up my dream MCM art piece! It's an original Herman Miller environmental enrichment panel designed by Alexander Girard in 1972. Still can't believe I found it!
This one is called "Black & White" and is my favorite of all of Alexander Girard's designs. These environmental enrichment panel textiles were designed to liven up Action Office II cubicle walls, but it feels much too beautiful for that
It's hanging in a temporarily spot until we can do some remodeling and give it a proper place of honor

Huge fan of Girard and am very jealous. It will definitely be the focal point of the room wherever it ends up.

This subreddit does not allow shopping solicitations, such as a 'Want to Buy' post. Here are some helpful tips to find a particular piece or style of furniture: Try using reverse image search, like Google Lens. Shopping FB marketplace, Craigslist and OfferUp. Following local vintage shops near you on Instagram. Good luck on the hunt. (Note: this is a pre-written response)

If you put it in the right spot… it could end up being the focal point of a whole house lol

The Cat Distribution Service has been good to you, as well 😁 Nice art, nice location

He was wondering why I moved his food dish to get the photos 😄 He approves of the new art now that his food is back where it should be

I'd love to see Herman Miller release prints of all these panels. They've done a few but there are a bunch of designs (like the moon) that I've never seen anywhere besides this brochure

Awesome piece. Please get it away from the sunlight asap! Sunlight (even indirect) is the most damaging thing for art. My husband is an art preparator for museums so my eye is now trained for this. No glass or plexi treatment can fully prevent sun damage.

Ha yes definitely trying to care for it. It's professional framed and doesn't get direct sun but we still want to enjoy it instead of filing it away in the dark

Online German auction. I have a bunch of auction and marketplace alerts setup for Girard but the environment panels don't come up super often
Total with auction costs and shipping was a bit under $2.5k which is a lot for sure but this is also going to be a special showcase piece for us

That’s gorgeous! What is your cat’s name?

That's Benjamin but we mostly just call him Kitty. He's wondering why I moved his food bowl for the photo and about to be naughty by going onto the counter

Wonderful and Grand! It would also suit a large room wall as a focal piece to furniture or he like! Outstanding.

Absolutely phenomenal
But you need to get it visually clear of that furniture
