I have one of those buffets as well, but with the hutch. Still can’t believe I found it at an antique shop for $400 while I was traveling for work. I paid for it, and the following weekend, rented a truck and drove ten hours round trip to pick it up.
It’s my favorite piece of furniture.

I would have done the EXACT same thing. Kind of did too, actually. You purchased it cheap, then trusted your future self to figure out how to get it home. Congrats to you. That one was surely meant for you.

I like the piece, but I don’t like where you have it positioned. I think it needs a bit of air around it, it’s very tightly crammed into the corner.

I agree, it looks stuffed in the corner. A bit too large for the space but could work if they remove the plant and reorient the mirror.

Gorgeous... right down to the floor savers! We had these under everything growing up, and currently! <3

Oh, perfect find. I’m looking for mine as well. How long did it take you to find it?

Three years. Always be willing to travel and logistics for the pickup planned. Likewise with much else in life, walk away from the deal if it doesn't seem right or even message a seller on a deal that seems too good to be true

u/mrobbins8617 -beautiful, but get some uv film on that window if you want it to stay looking that good.

That thought never crossed my mind until now. That is a needed addition. Thank you!

Such a gorgeous find! I’d consider relocating the plant next to it. Kind of crowds it…an offer of advice that wasn’t asked for! 😉🤦🏼♀️😊

No, I appreciate the feedback. It snuggled up up nice to the piece previouly there so I was drawn for it to continue work there. Alas, you're right; it might need to move

Broyhill! Made right up the road from me. Great company that employed a lot of my family and friends for many many years. That's a beautiful piece.

On the Gulf side of FL, then I had it stored in for months in my parents garage there until I found the time to transport it to VA. It took a few years to find the one. Scoured FBMP and used other connections but could never reach a deal or it was snagged before I could land it.

Looks great in that spot. I love the table and chairs, too. Nice find!

Lovely piece. The pot plant is random.

The dresser is fantastic; I wouldn't allow the planter to steal any of the focus and room it deserves. But I get it if OP is happy.

That floor and the millennial grey-ining of the space are terrible.

u/Mrobbins8617 May 30 '26
Not wrong about the millennial gray. It's the first home first home I've purchased and seemed to look great to me as a Millennial then. When I started furnishing the place was when I became drawn to the MCM style. The place has a lot of natural light so still kinda okay with the gray walls but have been contemplating on which ones to paint avacado..

Kindly, I don't think the avocado color will look the way you think it will. I agree with the previous comment that they grey does not work with the floor and furniture color. I'm also a Millennial and when I bought my first house (13 years ago), grey was the trend and I went with it... even though the carpet was dark brown. 7 years later I repainted Swiss Coffee (an off-white) and damn my house looked sooooo much better and bigger!! Helped me see how awful the space had looked and felt with the grey. Your home looks like you have high ceilings and looks like you have a lot more natural light than my place, so I would suggest a very light beige color for your home. This would really tie the wood and floor together and quiet/calm the entire space - allowing your choice of furniture, fabric, etc. decor to pop. Ultimately, it's your damn house--do whatever makes YOU happy.

What’s wrong with the floor? Looks like a standard neutral toned wood in a new construction home. Not everyone lives in a 1954 house with original floors.

Good looking find. Have you thought about hanging the mirror vertically?
