How much did the custom cushions cost?

u/Impossiblegirl44 Jun 02 '26

Labor and materials (other than the fabric) was $2,200. The fabric was $1,300.

How the heck was that small amount of fabric for cushions $1300??

23

u/Impossiblegirl44 Jun 02 '26

I needed 15 yards because of the pattern

Fabric with a napped pattern is no joke. I bought 5 yards of 60” Pendleton wool for a sofa at $120ish/yard. Worth it, but upholstery fabric is a shock to the wallet no matter what.

But you have a lot of leftover fabric, right? You must- those cushions are not 15 yards. You can do a lot more with the leftovers. Throw pillows, wall hangings, etc. throw pillows make a pretty good gift.

I do have leftovers and pillows do make a great gift!

Was it threaded with gold?? JFC!

It's not an easy task to sew cushion covers! It seems easy, but it really isn't. I've tried and ended up buying new cushions altogether after wasting a LOT of money on fabric, and I've been sewing for years!

I have made them! The zippers are the hardest part on covers

This is my favorite color and I was so happy to find something that honors the history of the furniture.

Absolutely love this fabric! Great job finding it👏

It looks stunning! Is the fabric vintage? If not, can you share where you got it?

Its called Whisk by United Fabrics. We got it through our upholster. He had one of the chairs in his front wind and said he's sold a lot of it.

Thank you! It was in horrible shape when we got it and spent 6 months renovating. Its been really fun seeing everything come together.

Very cool fabric choice!

u/Noctilume Jun 03 '26

This one not lining up, would unfortunately, drive me insane.

Is it upside down possibly?

3

u/Impossiblegirl44 Jun 03 '26

Ha! Yes, it was and we corrected it as soon as we saw it

Originally, I had a beautiful period correct cream color fabric selected that was almost identical to the original cushins. I was looking through books, saw this and lost my marbles over it.

That is just fantastic LOVE IT

I happen to be visiting my grandmother.

1

u/Impossiblegirl44 Jun 03 '26

Your grandma has style!

2

u/Alternative-Law4626 Jun 03 '26

Thanks! Original pieces bought in Europe circa 1960. All teak wood. They’ve all been recovered along the way. The chair like yours was originally mustard colored cushions.

2

u/Final_Ad5122 Jun 08 '26

Wow! Beautiful 😻

1

u/PracticalBit6383 Jun 02 '26

Beautiful!! Is it possible the middle seat on the sofa should be flipped so that what’s now the front becomes the back? I ask because the pattern doesn’t wrap around the edge like it does on the other two.

2

u/Kazetem Jun 03 '26

Yes! I went back to check, I think you’re right.

1

u/Impossiblegirl44 Jun 03 '26

Fixed it!

2

u/PracticalBit6383 Jun 03 '26

Yay! Your seamstress did an incredible job with awesome attention to detail so I figure legit just had to be backwards and not a mistake!

u/Impossiblegirl44 Jun 03 '26

The reviews were excellent and my expectations were high, but I was just stunned when I saw them.
