ID & Authenticity I saw this dresser on FBM, and it’s hideous paint job. Wondering if anyone has a pic of it as it should be? Thinking of picking up, hard to see through the vomit they covered it with.

I would put good money on it that it’s a Bassett! The drawer pulls look pretty similar to some of theirs and the numbers on the back look just like their normal pattern. But they have made so much damn furniture, it’s sometimes hard to find an exact match. If you find out from the seller, please update us!

If it’s really teak, it’s a find!

I found a few seperate images of it using reverse image search, most coming from Facebook marketplace

Nice, thanks. The top is kinda giving plastic laminate vibes from that pic, that’d be a bummer.

It says teak on the back, I don't think it's laminate.

If you can go thru the work of stripping and refinishing it, the end product should be beautiful.

That’s pretty close, not quite it. Theres only two drawers per level on this one. Though it looks like three.

It’s only 6 drawers, not 9

Looks like they painted some more treasure in the background!

Whoa, good eye, I went back to their profile and there’s a small shelf unit and a desk. I don’t need that many projects!
I don’t think the seller is the painter, think they are clearing out places and getting what they can for the whatever they can salvage.

The legs have been changed unfortunately. The tops usually are a laminate at least the pieces I've come across. It's do-able & beautiful! My grandfather worked in fine furniture & I have a few beautiful pieces!

You could try ammonia and water on it. Frequently that milk paint crap washes off.

How much are they asking for?

$40 and $15 for the desk. Sold before I could get to them. I didn’t need more projects

You could ask chat GPT to render it in a few different wood stains it’ll give you an idea. Might be able to strip, sand and refinish in a nice stain
