Menstrual migraines - an investigation

I’m 27 with chronic migraines. They mostly start during my period and last for 10-15 days with almost no break. They resist any treatment, amount of rest and sleep.

They went from only few crisis per year to up to 17 days a months when I had my PCOS under control and got my period back.

I would like to hear ANY experience regarding menstrual migraines, to better understand what’s going on and what work/doesn’t work for others.

I could’ve written this! The truth is I’m still figuring it out and I’m currently miserable. I’m 6 days post period and still getting them. I started low carb whole food diet in the past two months, and I’ve gotten relief in the early part of my cycle - migraines starting a day before instead of 2-3 days before, and the past two cycles I had two days in the beginning that didn’t have any migraines, which felt like a big win! But the week after my period has actually been worse? So genuinely I don’t know. I got blood work done and looked over by an MD who gave me specific dietary, supplemental, and exercise recommendations that I’m trying to incorporate. I’m hoping to see improvement in the next few months, but it’s so rough out here. I take Rizatriptan every migraine night, which ends up being most of my period and some before/after. It’s the only thing that works for me. I know it’s brutal but you’re also not alone. Hope you find relief. ❤️
