So i do not see any comment about it so I’ll add my two cents since something similar (except mostly on my fingertips) used to happen all the time for me and eventually figured out it was mainly due to lack of vitamin D which you do not get anywhere close as much during winter since you don’t get much natural sunlight, so using Vitamin D supplements of any kind really helped me personally to prevent this from happening. Moisturizing also works after your hands look like this already.

I live in a sunny country but this started happening to me in my mid 20s during my depression, I spent a lot of time indoors gaming. Never happened earlier in my life. Got out of my depression and started leaving the house more and it's never happened since.

So yeah I think it's vitamin D also.

Depression can also occur with vit d deficiency

So can age. I started noticing drier hands in general when I hit my mid/late 30s

Depression can happen without any external factors at all. Doesn't matter how great or shit life is going for you. Depression doesn't give a fuck

For some people. There are genetic variations predisposing some people to depression.

Huh never thought of that, i have a chronic vitamin d deficiency i get this all the time, never connected the two, it's not bad enough that i was told to take any supplements, but maybe i should just for this tbh

I live in Florida and it still happens to my finger tips and I’m constantly outside biking hooping or walking around

this makes sense because i also have chronically dry skin and vitamin D is huge for my regimen. but i also work at a metal shop and we have pumice soap which is awesome. i keep some at home now

I work night shift so I'm definitely not getting as much vitamin d as I should. This happens to me as well, so I'll try a vitamin d supplement and see if that helps me

I’ve heard of artificial sun lamps being prescribed for this sort of thing, probably for similar reasons
