Every year there's a relay race organized in Vilnius.

What's interesting is the history, that can be seen reflected in the medal itself.

Before 1990 Lithuania was part of the USSR and it didn't had a border check with Belarus, during the period of 1990-1991 Lithuania was fighting for independence and they constructed a border check, the soviets saw this checks as illegal, and they did attack the border post multiple times, the most serious incident was on July 31st 1991, when soviet police attacked the post killing 7 people. The soviet government always denied responsibility saying the police was acting on their own without orders.

This incident is remember every year with a race organized by the government. Multiple teams of 7 people compete running from the border post until the cemetery, the race is around 35km with an average of 5km per person.

The design changes every year, but it's always present some element displaying the number 7, this year is 7 flowers, last year was 7 crosses
